So I got 2 Northern Lights Going two Bubble Gum strains going. I did this because I thought for sure at least one or two wouldnt germinate But it seems that all of them have sprouted! I really dont think I could grow four plants in this size space. I might be able to get away with three plants so if that time comes I will get rid of one of the Northern Lights. Since this is my first grow ever I not expecting too much as far as yields. I think the grow techniques I will use in the next coming weeks LST Topping and maybe SoG. I could see me utilizing HST if my Bubblegum strain starts really out pacing the Northern Lights.

So I right now the northern lights that are pictured at the top are not looking good at all. They aren't dead but now look like they are on there last leg (they are the two at the top). The Bubblegum received the same water and lighting conditions as the Northern Lights but seem to be doing it much better. I moved the light about 4 inches closer so we will see if that helps out. I am more glad that the Bubblegum are the ones doing well because the size of the grow tent would only let me get away with 2 plants anyways and it seems nature made the choice for me. But I am curious what caused the Northern Lights to start failing. They received the everything the same as the bubblegum and I haven't even added nutrients. At the end of the week I have set up an auto watering unit for the plants and got it working in the middle of the light cycle. It runs for about 1 minute each day for each plant. I had to get rid of the Northern Lights strain because they were just about dead. I moved the Bubble Gum to the 5 gallon pots. I also increased the amount of water I was giving each plant because while they looked healthy and receiving ample lighting they just seemed to not be growing as quickly as other plants I have seen in other diaries. Since the increase in water I have noticed an increase in growth

I have a vivosum ph meter, a ph tester for the up/down ph liquids and ph test strips. All of them don't seem to agree with each other with in a range of 1 ph across the ph scale. My question is what is the most reliable or is there a different method I should use?

as long as your water is clear and relative clean... The ph drops are by far the most reliable and accurate... Iv'e used pens, strips and drops.. And I always go back to the drops. By the large volume test fluid and your golden.

9-1-20*I started to add nutrients at the end of week 3 and it seems to have made a improvement to the growth. I have to get some things to do LST or SoG but I haven't yet if I'm going to do those or topping or some combination of the 3. It is nice to see the drastic improvement in growth at the start of week 3. 9-2-20*Well after on day I saw a increase growth in the second plant so I decided to do the topping technique. I also added some of Fox Farms Liquid Plant food to the nutrient solution because on the back it seems to have lower concentrations of nutrients but also more trace nutrients than that of the Grow Big.

9-7-20 So the past couple of days I was scared that I severely harmed the plants. I thought I cut to low when I topped the plants. Though It seems to have worked because I got two new main stems growing out. But I just hope I didnt stunt it too badly. I also on the taller of the two plants I started to use I guess would called LST but it is like ScrOG. Basically I stick plastic wire around plant pot itself creating a mini screen. will see how this works. I also moved the light much further away because I was noticing the plant become heat stressed and it seems to help keep the temperature lower in the tent as well. 9-8-20 I just moved some of the cable that was LST on plant 2 around made some more nutrient water and they seem to be doing fine

9-14-20 Well this past week and starting this week I have not only been experimenting but also fixing mistakes that I have been making from the beginning. To get the mistakes out of the way. I started out using teaspoon tablespoon measure for my nutrient rich water. Then I switched over to pipits. That is where my mistake happened. I did not verify the markings on the side of the pipit or just misread them because the measurement increases on the pipit were in .5 increments and not 5ml. So I was basically not giving an accurate nutrient solution. That is why my TDS ppm will be going from 175(which is still drinkable) to 1170 ppm. I guess these aren't horrible mistakes but three out of the four weeks what I thought was nutrient rich water was literally just water. Now the experimenting. On plant 1 I have traditional LST ScrOG and I topped it in week three. On plant 2 I did LST, just not in the same way as plant 1. I did HST, and I might try some more. Then obviously ScrOG. The only thing I changed about the nutrient water is I will start out with a lower dosage of the general plant food. Last comment is that if I rub the stems with my fingers and smell my hands it smells like I'm in cannabis heaven! So I take that as a good sign. 9-19-20 So i think I am coming to the conclusion that i might just have one plant. Nothing I did wrong with the second plant (plant1) but I saw i wasnt growing the bushy foliage like plant 2. Both plants got the same thing. I think the difference is the genetics of the plants or that maybe I did the topping technique slightly more on plant 2. Honestly the biggest indicator has be the original fan leaves. Both plants germinated at the same time. Yet plant 2 was and is far outpacing. plant 1. I did this as a last ditch teaching thing. I did HST on three branches of the plant 1. Plant 1 just seemed to try to stretch. I hope the stress will encourage under growth. I honestly want both plants to basically come together.

9-22-20 So I haven't had gotten rid of plant 1 yet. I have used it as a test bed to test HST and other things. Plant 1 seems to be doing verry well. I haven't had had much in the way of new info. hopefully in the next 2 weeks or so I can start the vegetative process. I will undoubtably try to collect clones after this week as well. I have never done clones before but hopefully goes well.

9-28-20 A couple of days ago I took off pretty much all the fan leaves lower than the third node. While I was doing that I accidentally clipped one too much and took more than the fan leaf. So I'm going to try making it a clone and see how it goes.

10-5-20 So Im writing this late but Im trying to start the flowering stage. I have a bunch of clones I'm trying to start. thats basically it. 10-7-20 Well I have seen hairs start on the plant itself so I will consider this is the first day of flowering. Pretty exciting! I tried to take a picture but none of them turned out well

9-15-20 So I Have definitly in this past week have flowering. Thankfully so far no one around my area has a male plant because they are female. The root system is notably bigger as well because it took a lot of water before the pot started to drain. I did a bunch of fan leave cutting and everything seems to be going good. The photos are kinda crappy sorry maybe later in the week I'll try too take better ones.

When do you start counting the flowering days. When you switch 12-12 lighting schedule or when you first notice signs of flowering?

At 12/12 consider yourself in preflower. You'll stay in preflower until after the stretch ends (1-2 weeks). After that I consider it the flower stage. It helps me to break it up this way. During preflower, the plants still want a strong veg nute mix, so it helps me to organize my feeding schedule a bit better by separating out preflower and flower. For the purposes of your journal, I would include preflower as a flower week.

8-20-20 So the flowering has really taken off. I slightly increased the nutrients. I'm pretty excited because this is my first grow ever. I have a clone growing off a light in my closet. I want to be able to transplant the clone as soon as these two plants get harvested. Even if I only get a gram from these two plants I feel like this was a great learning experience and I'm pretty excited how it turns out.

10-26-20 I dont have too much new to report about the plants. I have noticed at certain spots on the stems it appears to almost look like the plant is doing its own LST training. As the bud begins to flower and grow it puts pressure on the other side of the stem. Thats just a theory at the moment. I'll keep an eye on it though because I really dont want to turn into mold. I tried to take some macro shots of the trichomes they kinda turned out alright considering I wass using an Iphone 8 and a jewelers magnifier. I have been I think kinda heavy on the defoliation. I have been testing different degrees of defoliation on different sections of the the plant. I think I can already tell that I defoliated too much on some.

This is a boron deficiency but you need to know why. Check your runoff ph and ec levels and get them both in line. Cheers

11-11-20 This past week we had a hurricane in my area. During that time I lost power for about 36 hours. My temperature was slightly higher, they didnt receive light and worst of all the humidity stayed around 90%. Now I believe my plant turned into a hermaphrodite. Not every bud site on the plant switched to making seeds. Plus I think if it was male or got pollinated naturally I would have noticed earlier than week 5 of flowering. I'm still doing things as planned but it is kinda disappointing that my first grow is going this way because of a power outage. I would like to get this grow under my belt because in my second grow if this happens again then someone in my area has a male plant.
