Another positive week of growth down. She is really starting to smell now tho! Not an overpower weed smell, more like fresh cut grass mixed with citrus, so its definitely pineapple express πŸ˜„πŸ‘Œ I have been monitoring an issue with large fan leaves on the main cola for 2 weeks now, which almost overnight has become more prominent. I will raise it as a question below. I have a few idea's as to what might have caused it, but since its only 2 old fan leaves I'm not too worried. So starting this week I have changed a few things in the setup. The 600w bulb for 1 plant was just too much, so I switched it for a 250w bulb and moved the light a lot closer. As I am running a cheaper light and closer, I have also decided to up the hour of light to 20, potentially increasing to 24 later in flowering stage. Interesting to see what affects this will have on the plant but I am hoping for no change at the least. Thank you again for another helpful week on grow diaries and I will keep all progress for the week up to date. W4D1 - She's bulking up and starting to smell now 😁 Yellowing fans leaves issue has made a jump tho so guidance will be needed. W4D2 - New light in and no noticeable change in behavior as yet. W4D3 - Yellowing of the leaves has increased. The 2 affected leaves have degraded and 2 more of the old fans leaves have began to turn. Still no resolution. W4D4 - She still looks perky and is still developing, but the yellowing is increasing in other area's. Mostly still on the main colas but hints in other area's now. W4D5 - So I have begun the process of flushing the plant and soil. Potential issues are nute-lockout, potassium deficiency, PH in-balance or a calmag deficiency. Yellowing is spreading, but slowly. After flush and ph balance water for a few days I will reintroduce nutrients at half the recommended. MORE HELP AND GUIDANCE IS NEEDED.

Grow Questions

I have 2 large fan leaves from the main cola turning yellow and 1 almost looks crisp or burnt on the edges. It is only 2 of the leaves and by my reckoning, they are 2 of the oldest leaves on the plant. From research, it could be the bump in nutes or water issue. Any ideas?

Hey buddy, first thing u should do now is check the ph of the water that comes out of the bottom. Should be between 6 or 7. If ph is too high or low u can get nutrients lockouts which means the nutrients are in the soil but because of bad ph values the plant/roots doesn't use/absorb them. If this is the case buy ph up and down products for soil. Not so expensive and a real plantsaver. She still looks very fine but this is the beginning of problems. It always starts on lower leaves and moves slowly to the top. With a little adjustment it can be solved really easily πŸ˜‰ Hope this helps

Accidentally resolved my original question instead of liking a suggestion and I cant change it πŸ˜… Same issue still applies for now. I have been testing the PH going in but not out so I will try this and pass on my results after the next water πŸ‘ Open to all observations.

Ph should be between 6 and 7 I meant, ideal is 6,5 but this changes throughout the entire grow. Between 6.2 and 6.8 ur always fine, wrote it down wrong buddy, my apologies πŸ˜‰

I'm experiencing yellowing, browning and crisping on some leaves, but only on the main colas so far. I have checked the PH in and out. In has always been perfect, but the PH of the run-off was 5.8 so I'm flushing to rule out nute lockout. Anything else it could be??

If it's the old leaves is because of the stage of flowering it is in...as she is bulking up she is pulling more so once medium is dry the next water source is the older fan leaves/water leaves...#happy growing she looks healthy

That is an awesome result bud! Great work through the whole diary and thanks a lot for the shout out! Just be careful with that main monster cola of yours as if it dries unevenly because it to thick you could get molding issues from the centre that will be hard to see until its to late. All and all an amazing diary to follow week on week so you should be proud. Keep up the good work πŸ‘Œ and keep on growing so I can keep on following πŸ™‚

Looking great man, gonna be good buds for sureπŸ‘ŒπŸ˜‹ Is this week 6 of flowering? Make sure u flush 2 full weeks to get rid of all nutrients and have the best taste after drying and curing. Greetings πŸ˜‰

@CoronaGrower, I'm going to use Cannaflush for the first time. Other years I used plain water but I was never satisfied with the taste of the final product. Might be because of bad ph too. Now I will do a 3week flush to see if their is difference. I hope to tell u in a few weeks πŸ™‚

@Clutch, Cheers! Yeah week 6 of flower. From the hair color and other diaries I've seen I'd say 3-4 more weeks left πŸ‘ Im sure water is perfectly fine, but I've read about products that help with flushing. Have you ever used and are they necessary?

U can maybe do a little low stress training, make sure that every budsite has good light. On the topping subject : NEVER EVER top or Fim an autoflower. They have a too short life to bounce back from any cutting. Only feminised plants can handle that. Bad or dead leaves can be pruned away but not too much πŸ˜‰ I don't think that 12/12 light shedule is necessary with an autoflower. 18/6 all the way trough is the way. Some even do 20/4. Plant still looks great buddy

Clutchcommented4 years ago
@CoronaGrower, autoflowers are crossbreed. They have the sativa or indica genetics mixed with ruderalis plants. Ruderalis is the reason why they are autoflowers. Wich means they flower because of age not light cycle. 12/12 will work but it will never be as good as 18/6 or 20/4. Here is a good link that explains it better then I ever could 😁 https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-the-perfect-light-schedules-for-autoflowering-cannabis-n319 And for the topping/Fimming subject. The rule is u should never top/FIM untill the the 3rd node because plants are too young to recover from it. Especially autoflowers since they go to preflower stage after 3 or 4 weeks after germination and they only have 3 or 4 nodes then. Topping /Fimming is allowed in vegative stage, never in flowering or even preflower. An autoflower is already changed to preflower after 2 or 3 weeks. That's the big stretch u see in the first weeks. Feel free to ask any questions man, glad I can help πŸ˜‰

@Clutch, Yeah I am planning on more LST alright, just have to wait for certain sections to get a day or 2 stretch so I can reach them without contorting too much. And after reading up, I am still confident topping or FIM could work, but it would have to be in a short window between the first and second week but yes, extreme caution is required. With pruning I am still unsure which leaves to take off. I know the lower leaves that don't get light and don't have bud sites, but at what stage should I get aggressive with pruning the top half? And finally, how come you wouldn't go 12-12? Is that common for auto's? I know true 12-12 is to trigger flowering for regular plants, but would it not benefit from the extra night growth? Thank you for the assist πŸ‘Š

Looking good man. Final weeks are coming πŸ‘πŸ˜‰ New white pistils doesn't mean she is not done yet. Some strains just keeps developing them throughout the entire grow. Only real indication for plants to finish/harvest is the suggested breeder flowering time + trichomes check. I don't have a microscope myself to check trichomes so who am I to give advice haha. The yellowing and crispy leaves are also caused by a bit too much nutrients here I think. The recommended dose is always tested in perfect breeders environment. For growers like us it's always better to use half of the recommended dose and see how it reacts. I always like to think more of supporting nutrients than boosting the hell out of a plant. Just my opinion πŸ˜‰ Happy growing friend

CoronaGrowercommented4 years ago
@Clutch, I did a trichome check with a rough magnifying glass and they have mushroomed with some slight cloudiness so practically done too. After further research I think for this week I will give half dose of nutes for a week then flush, to see if I can get her used to using her own nutes. I have read many recommendations about half doses of nutes compared to manufacturer guidelines but I wanted to run with what they say for my first grow, then pull back for future ones and compare. First couple of grows are test runs and learning process' for me. Thanks again for the assist πŸ‘

Congratulations on the harvest friend. That main cola is an impressive monster haha. Thx for shout out πŸ‘Š glad I could help although I still have a lot to learn myself 😁 I think they will taste fantastic after a good cure. As rebelgoose said make sure to keep an eye on the drying. Since there are no fan leaves left (the long branches and fan leaves are used to slow down the drying process for a better taste in the end) and a ventilator is spinning 24/7 as u say she can dry pretty quick. 7 to 10 days is a good moment to inspect them real well. Make sure they don't get too dry before u put them in jars. Better to leave a little humidity and open the jars about 3 times daily for a few minutes. Then after a week one time daily, after 2 weeks every 2 days and so on. Reduces the chance on mold or rot. U need the humidity for a controlled drying but it can't dry too quick either. It's a fun game haha. I'm trying to do it that way at this moment. This is a good read about that topic πŸ˜‰ https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-avoid-mould-while-curing-your-weed-n417
