I've been excited for a while to firstly grow a Kush strain and secondly to try the seeds from Dinafem.
The first seed didn't pop at all, but the second one came through after 3 days in the wet paper towel method.
Recently I purchased Neem powder to combat thrips on my other plants. For this grow I've decided to mix it in to the soil as per directions and I am definitely looking forward to see the sort of impact it will have.
Massive amounts of growth between Weeks 1 and 2. I think adding the Neem powder to the medium was the right thing to do. I have seen zero signs of bugs, and the extra bit of nitrogen has help push through until I start proper Veg nutrients next week.
I gave her the first Veg nutrients and she almost doubled in size over the course of a few days. I am super super impressed with the results of mixing the Neem powder in to the soil. There isn't a single bug bite on any of the leaves. I think next week i'll also give it a spray of the neem. Since neem powder has an NPK value, i think it has also helped in speeding up the growth.
This was also the first week of LST.
I'm really enjoying the growth of this plant. And again I can't speak highly enough about the neem powder, it has sincerely changed my growing world.
Pre-flower has begun but I think I will continue with veg nutes this week and begin flower nutes the following week.
Pistils have gone crazy this week so I decided to switch to Flowering nutes. In previous weeks I spoke highly of the Neem powder being mixed in to the soil, but this week I discovered bugs underneath the leaves. I've sprayed with diluted Neem powder last night and today they are gone.
In one of the pictures you can already see crystals forming on the smaller sugar leaves - exciting times.
SUper unhappy this week - it seems I have an aphids infestation and considering I have been using neem powder mixed in to the soil, I am quite surprised this has happened (refer to pics). Since she's well in to flower, I am not comfortable spraying her with anything so I decided to give her a spray with a decent pressure hose as well as removed the affected leaves.
Fingers crossed this has solved the issue.
I'm still quite disappointed with this strain - it is pretty much shown zero resilience to bugs even though I have been treating it with Neem powder.
You'll notice that the leaves are full of bug spots, but I'm going to continue to let her grow and see how the next weeks of flowering go.
Still unhappy with this grow overall. I can't seem to control the aphids infestation as you can see in the picture. I am reluctant to cut her down, so I think I will wait until harvest and then wash the buds in a solution of lemon juice and bicarb soda. Hopefully that does the trick.
Open to suggestions.
So I think it has become obvious that my garden is an absolute shit show. Aphids bloody everywhere.
At the end of this week I am going to chop this girl down and give her a wash in Hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice and then water - hopefully that will clear out the mess the aphids have made.
This grow was an absolute shit show from early on. Huge aphid problems that I tried to solve with Neem powder - which didn't work at all.
After I wet trimmed, I decided to wash the buds according to this guide (https://www.spliffseeds.nl/harvesting-cannabis-with-bugs-or-mildew/) and the amount of dead aphids and crap that came off the buds was astonishing.
After letting them drip dry on the clothesline I will pop them in to my WeDryer and see how it goes.
Shall update smoke report after about a month cure.
@Ryder,
Bugger, that is something I didn't consider here. Running an average of 67% humidity all year round and I'm about 50 meters from the sea. Lets see how it all goes.
@RustyStarbuck72,
Mine was slightly deformed too when it popped out of the soil, but it has grown strong and doesn't show any deformity anymore. Lets see how it turns out.
@RustyStarbuck72,
Thanks mate. This is my first one and so far so good. I've been playing around with the LST this week, you'll see the pics in my next updated diary.
@Ryder,
Absolutely bloody spewing mate. I gave her a good hose down and we'll see how it goes. If she survives til harvest, I read that you can wash the plant in bicarb soda and lemon to kill them off before hanging for the dry.
