Hello, world! Long story short - I was watching a video with Jeff Lowenfels and Seth Crawford on youtube, probably called 'The Future will Autoflower' when they were discussing surprise-surprise, auto-flowering strains, and Seth said that you can make auto-flower start flowering later if you take a big pot.
I ran out of autos at that time but decided to try an experiment when I will have some. So the time has come and I'm starting two journals in an attempt to see whether 18L of difference in volume would make any difference when they will start flower.
It's not a completely scientific experiment since they're not clones but two different seeds, but I hope to see a difference in timing and size significant enough (a week or two? and tens of grams in yield) to somehow prove/disprove the theory.
This journal is for the smaller pot.
This one is a bit further from light and I don't yet have a platform to put it a bit higher, and I don't think that the difference is significant enough at this stage
Watering with plain water, bending to the ground as hard as I can.
Added diatomite on day 5 of the week to kill the gnats that were around - ended up with a sticky mess on top of the pots 😂
I hope PH would stay adequate and it will actually work against those little bastards
Moved girls under SF-1000 when it arrived
No differences compared to the bigger pot for now
Doing the same thing as with her sister bending to the ground, trying to spiral it later. For now, it seems to be OK but I'm not used to training this intensive. This one is already smaller than the lady in the bigger pot
Everything is exactly the same as in the neighbor diary with the bigger plant, using different wire pieces and struggling with LST. The smaller lady is actually about 1.5 times smaller than the bigger one visually
So after 4 weeks differences between the 2 girls are obvious - the bigger one started flowering earlier and the size is like 2x different. This one also has a lot fewer stigmas. And because of the tinyness, LST went wrong :-D This girl is crooked and messy. Little Witch
Dis weed is menace :-D I hate LST-ing her because the branches are tiny, and the shape ended up being a bonsai fuck-up. I think it could become an auto-bonsai if I cut the lower branches. Let's see at the end of flowering.
All well. Stretching a lot. I removed a couple of ties and let her go. Two smaller pots are lying on top of this one because I plant too much! Boring start of flowering, nothing to say really
Ok so on the frontal photo you may see how miserably I failed with LST on this one.
Two tiny pots behind are neighboring plants, the pot volume is about 0.5 + 0.3 liter, I was looking at the solo cup when I realized that those ladies don't have space and was stunned for too long.
Regarding the bigger sister, this one is flowering at least a week slower (or even more), and I don't really understand the reason for it.
I cut a lot of lower branches since they seemed useless and there's not much time left.
Added Canna PK at the end of the week.
This one is about a week or two behind the bigger plant and both are not super fast in flowering, I guess it was a 12/12 switch.
All well, she stands behind her bigger sister so not being abused by me in attempts to get high on something. Buds are not big bud super frosty. Keeping on nutes at least one more week.
Switching to the dripping system did well for this one as well, growth seems to speed up a bit.
Cut a couple more tiny branches at the end of the week, dried in a microwave, and tried the stuff - not so of 'smoke it in the morning' thing for me.
Probably flushing next week. Patience Gods need more sacrifices
Another failure for me! ;-D I'm too impatient and thought she would finish early enough, then started cutting pieces like a maniac and never let the girl flower at full. One might treat that as murder. Also 'she' here is about both plants, I guess. I had hard feelings about them in the veg stage already, I guess since I felt like we're not understanding each other. I still have a few seeds so see you next time, Hulkberry Auto!
