Week 1 in the books... Misted twice per day. 24 hr. light until Day 6; switched over to 20/4 cycle.
Pretty happy with week 1. She gets a good drink in the morning to begin week 2
Another great week! She's continuing to pick up steam. I believe I'm seeing the beginning of pre-flower.
Started Nectar for the Gods (NFTG) Early Veg schedule for autoflowers this week. NFTG nutrients mixed and watered in with 1 gallon of H2O.
I noticed a very slight burn on a leaf margin about 2 days after feeding. I kept an eye on the area, but it didn't progress any further. It's likely I got a little of the nutrient solution on the leaf causing the phytotoxicity.
I've also noticed a few small gnats that I assume to be fungus gnats. They don't seem to be causing any problems. Got some Bti and yellow sticky traps to keep those under wraps.
Next week, I'm going to cut watering amounts to 1/2 gallon. Soil seems to be staying wet for up to five days. I want to get that down to three days to help with my feeding schedule and dry out the top of the soil some.
Pre-flower starts. The main shoot is starting a bit of a stretch.
Week 4 started with a mid-vegetative NFTG feeding. I'm following the NFTG autoflower feeding regimen with the sample lineup. All nutrients from the sample pack were used except for the Bloom Kaos. I am also following Oregon's Only Feed-Feed-Tea-Feed-Feed-Flush schedule. This meant the first tea feeding with Cultured Biologix EZ Tea Veg.
This week was also the beginning of Low Stress Training. I leaned her over in the morning. By evening, she was pushing upward toward the light again. I ponytailed her two days for about 5.5 hours each day. I think I was a little late to start ponytailing, so I decided to skip a third day.
I added a yellow sticky trap for fungus gnats, and included Bti in my water to take care of any FG larvae in the soil. This was mostly precautionary as I've noticed no damage to the plant.
Flowering like a champ this week! Main cola is making a major stretch. I hope she has slowed that stretch by the end of the week; I'm running out of height in my bucket.
Week 5 got two feedings; it's just the way the schedule worked out. One NFTG Late Veg feeding; one NFTG Early Flower feeding.
Got a little tip burn over the past two weeks. Nothing severe. It's likely a combination of nutes and light being two close with the stretch. Next week, I have a flush, so I'm not too worried about it.
On cruise control for now. I had hoped to train the canopy for a even harvest. But I'll likely have to harvest the main cola first. Then, harvest the rest of the plant a few weeks later.
The snake on the power cord was a startling discovery. The weather is cooling down so it was looking for a warm spot. It's a black rat snake, so no worries about it being venomous. I tried not to disturb it, but it got spooked with me moving around and finally slithered off to a place to hide.
Well... things have gotten squirrely. The week started out fairly well. There was a little leaf tip yellowing. I figured I overdid the nutes. Now, I think it may be a pH issue.
I flushed twice this week with Herculean Harvest. One of those days I added SLF-100 to rinse any junk out.
This was a disappointing week! I got a lot of yellowing on lower leaves and leaf tips. I think some of it was pH, some of it was waiting too long between watering, and partly my flushing last week.
By the end of the week, things were looking up a little. I got back to the nutrients, raised the pH, and increased the frequency of watering/feeding.
I felt like the flowers really frosted up towards the end of the week. Here's hoping I'm on the right track now. :/
I'm hoping an ugly plant will produce some pretty bud.
Nothing special this week. I'm still feeding Nectar for the Gods Mid-Flower. I watered with Cultured Biologix EZ Tea - Veg in staying with Feed-Feed-Tea-Feed-Feed-Flush.
Leaves are yellowing. Some of that is lifecycle; a lot of it is light too close and nutrients.
The smell is increasing. And the flowers are frosting. Just waiting for the buds to fatten up.
Getting very close now. I'll harvest the main cola at least one week before I harvest the rest of the plant. Looks like there is a lot of potential still down in the bucket.
This week a NFTG Mid-Flower and a NFTG Flush.
I've been disappointed in this plant, or maybe the way I've grown it. I expected so much more from Mephisto. But there's a good chance I screwed it up early on, and it just hasn't recovered.
Power went out at the end of this week, yep, it's 2020.
I'm just trying to get something decent out of it before the end.😕
This was a trying week. We lost power on a Thursday evening and didn't get it back until Sunday evening, so she spend 3 days in the dark.
On Day 71, I took her out for a few hours of sunlight and got some great pictures (much better than the ones inside.)
On Day 74, I cut the top cola and put it in the dryer; that in itself was an adventure. It was supposed to go 4 days in the dryer. I checked it at 3 and it was dry. When I jarred it, it was showing 34% humidity after a day. I popped in a Bodeva packet to get it up to 62%. Hopefully, I saved it. I'll keep a better eye on the dryer next time.
I know people are mixed on the dryer. Sure, I'd prefer to hang dry and all that jazz. But with kids at home, in a suburban neighborhood, I'll take a quicker dry for now. Maybe one of these days I can do a proper dry.
Harvested a few more buds this week.
Got a NFTG Flush and Late - Flower application this week.
Another week or two for the finish. I'm interested in how this bud will finish. It's ugly, no doubt. But it's frosty. Hopefully, a good dry and cure will help. It smells wonderful, so there's that.
@WilliamsUrbFarm, Water is tap that sits for a few days. Nectar for the Gods is a calcium-based nutrient line. If I'm calcium deficient, it must be because my pH has been off. Does that sound right?
