Jimmysmith Placed seeds in glass with water for ~16 hours until they sunk. Then kept them in a damp paper towel for 24hrs in the dark. Transplanted sprouted seeds from paper towel to soil. Grew 1inch after about 7 days total
Jimmysmith Plain tap water from an auto watering system for a week and a bit. Good stretch in the last week! Moved to 1gal planters and added some happy frog soil along with garden soil (50/50)

Jimmysmith Continuing with LST this past week. All 4 are growing well. A bit of defoliation this week. If I hadn’t done any plant training, they would probably be closer to 20” tall. Planning to flip to flower soon.

Jimmysmith Still going well. Pruned/defoliated some of the lower growth on all plants. Started a small experiment by adding Ocean Forest soil as a topping to 2/4 plants (2 on right). Expecting to flip to bud soon, once they’ve recovered from the lower pruning.

Jimmysmith Flipped to flower Aug 26th so it’s been 6 full days of 12/12. The leaves on the back right plant are a lighter shade of green. Looks to me like it may want some more nitrogen. Otherwise they’re all growing well. They stretched 6” since I flipped to flower. They’re currently 24” tall and I’m expecting they’ll stop growing in height somewhere around 30-34”. Performing a bit of HST to flatten out the canopy. Will start to add big bud nutes soon.

Jimmysmith Plants grew another 5”. Raised the fan by placing it on a bucket. Removed some lower foliage as it was yellowing, likely due to low light near the bottom. Started adding Big Bud nutrients. Did a bit more super cropping and accidentally snapped a branch. It didn’t come off completely so I taped it with some electrical tape and hoping for the best. It’s been a bit more humid lately so I’ve started running the dehumidifier to keep it down. The grow light is only rated for a 3x3 foot grow area when flowering so I’m keeping the plants a little closer together. So far so good...

Jimmysmith Another good week. The plants are at 33” now. They’re almost ready to stop stretching and start getting thicker and heavier. Did my final big defoliation to help give the lower bud sights more light and air. I had 1 cola that I accidentally snapped during super cropping. It was hanging on by a thread. I taped it up 1 week ago with some electrical tape and I removed the tape today. It healed well! There’s a good solid white knuckle where the break was. I’ve read that this creates something like a “super highway” within the fibres of the plant to will helpwith bud development. I’m interested to see how the buds above and below this spot turn out.

Jimmysmith The plants are coming along well and smell great! All 4 seemed to have stopped growing in height now. The tallest one is at around 33.5” and others closer to 30”. Amended the soil of 1 (front right in photos) with some Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil. The two on the left had Ocean Forest added a few weeks ago with no issues. I’m starting to see some leaves yellow near the bottom. I’m thinking it’s due to low levels of light and the plants focusing on bud development. I’ve also turned up the dehumidifier to lower the humidity to be in the 40’s. I’ve found a couple of centipedes hiding under the pots and I’m leaving them in there to attack any potential pests that may sneak in as they’re harmless to the plants.

Jimmysmith This past week I noticed some blotchy areas on my leaves that spread everywhere. After some research on Google, it turns out I have a Thrip infestation! I didn’t even know what a Thrip was, until 2 days ago. After some research online I’ve taken a few steps. Yellow sticky traps. I’ve caught a bunch in the first day and you can see them on the yellow traps in the photos. I made my own pesticide soap with water, ivory soap and vegetable oil. Sprayed a few directly and it works great. Increased Nutrients by 50%, hoping it’ll help. Otherwise the buds seem ok...

Jimmysmith Still working on Thrip control. Using sticky traps and a homemade pesticide soap. A trap in each of the 4 plants and they all caught a bunch. Replaced the traps with fresh ones today. I’m hoping the problem is under control, it doesn’t seem to be getting worse but I’m still watching closely. Otherwise, buds look good. Tent smells great. 1 more week then I’m starting a flush.

Jimmysmith I stopped providing Big Bud Nutrients this past week. I’m starting a flush tomorrow so the girls will only be getting tap water from here on out. I expect they’ll be ready for harvest in about 1.5 weeks. I think I’ve gotten most of the thrips but not all. I’ll be giving the buds a wash before drying so check out one of my next updates to see how the wash goes.

Jimmysmith We’re now headed into the final week before harvesting. This past week I stopped all nutrients and have only provided room temperature tap water. The buds on one of the plants are so heavy that they were bending over so I’ve had to prop them up. I’m continuing to replace the sticky traps and still catching some thrips but it’s not nearly as bad as it was before. My next update will likely be on harvest, removing fan leaves, cleaning in buckets of water, baking soda and lemon juice followed by hang drying. Looking forward to it!! Happy Halloween all! :)
This is my second time growing GSC and it was once again a pleasure. I started with 4 feminized seeds and finished with 4 female plants. I applied various types of plant training (lst, hst) and they adapted very well. They even fought off a Thrip attack! The buds are very sticky, full of trichomes and have a wonderful unique smell that only GSC has.

Jimmysmith This time around I didn’t top any of the plants and focused purely on LST and HST. 4 plants under this light was a bit tight and resulted in some crowding. My guess is I could have gotten a similar yield with 1 or 2 less plants as they’d have more room to spread out. Overall I’m happy with the results. This is my 2nd time washing the bud after harvest. After seeing the results 2x now I think it’s the way to go! It doesn’t seem to impact the final quality at all and it smokes cleaner. If you have any questions on this strain, the equipment or any of the techniques I used, feel free to post in the comments.
