Clones created from when we mainlined some plants from another grow. For kicks, they were left in in our small greenhouse for about a month in solo cups with paper towels soaked in water.
After some surprisingly good root growth, we transferred them to the bigger pot and just left them in the garden next to our tomatoes. A few weeks later the plants showed some good veg growth. I gave most of them away to some friends but kept the Super Silver Haze as a side project. I wasn't going to document this grow but have decided to create the diary now that we're 8 weeks into veg. So, I've skipped the first 2 months of growing which is why this diary starts at week 8...but she's got my full attention now.
For this run, I'm experimenting with some LST. Includes bending the main stem 90 degrees and training all nodes to create the even canopy. I topped only the main cola and trained the 2 new main cola nodes and all the lower nodes in a circle using a wire frame support. The lowest node is actually trained to grow in the opposite direction of the main stem. The plant is responding well and most of the nodes are growing symmetrically.
I'm very curious to see how she grows during the flowering stage. It is an outdoor grow and I'll let it progress under the outdoor light which will mean harvest will probably happen at the end of Oct or into Nov. I'll be moving it into our small greenhouse during the nights when the temp drops too low or if we get any frost to try and extend the flower cycle.
She's responded well to all the stress for now. It's amazing how these plants can grow so well with all the manipulation.
Clone:
1 x Super Silver Haze 10-11 w
Organic Grow
Soil: Destiny Dark Matter
She continues to grow well. Some defoliation this week and the stems are getting fat and chunky at all the bend points.
Switching to flower in a couple of weeks.
She's begun to flower with a good amount of stretch. Moved her into my small greenhouse to protect her from the cold weather during the night. Did a final defoliation and staked the stems for support.
Feeding a tea blend with soil stabilizer and pro bloom to help with flowering. Keeping the watering to every other day since the temps have gone down.
She continues to grow healthy and strong in my small greenhouse. 💪
She's not a tall one but I'm expecting more stretch for the next week.
Bud sites are looking good and continue to stack up nicely.
Just gonna let her do her thing and continue to feed every other day.
Getting cooler at night so she stays in the greenhouse to avoid any of those nights with frost.
Continue to water and feed every 2nd day. Now that she has her shape, I've removed all the ties for the branches and left the tie for the main stem only.
She looks healthy so I'll continue to let things progress "as is". Bud are filling out nicely too.
The serrated edges of the fan leaves are showing some upward curl which may mean be from some kind of stress. Checking every day to make sure it's nothing too serious.
Not a big plant but the buds are still stacking up nicely even though we're well into October.
Weather has been wet and raining so the humidity has been high this week so I haven't needed to water that much. (every 3 days) Growing the plant in the greenhouse helps.
As expected, some lower leaves are turning a slight yellow. No biggie.
Grow is doing well. Not doing anything other than letting the plant grow. She's nice and cozy in the green house especially at night when the temps get close to frost levels. The greenhouse keeps everything warmer and dry.
Weather has been good this week. Cool temperatures with avg humidity. 👍
The buds seem to have had a growth spurt this week so I won't change anything. 😊
Weather is getting cooler but she's still beefing up.
Bottom leaves gradually yellowing.
Watering every 3 days due to high humidity.
Just going to let her continue to grow.
Moved the greenhouse over to the garden to cover the herbs including the Silver Haze.
The weather is getting close to freezing but the temp in the greenhouse is at 68 deg.
Due to the colder weather, some of he buds and leaves are turning a purple hue which is nice.
Gonna let her go as long as she can. Hoping to stretch the outdoor season to the end of Nov. 👍
Cold weather last week but this week looks like it will be warmer. Nice waft of a skunky smell when I lift the greenhouse lid.
Flushing with just water for the next 1-2 weeks.
Trikes are looking opaque with about 5% turning amber. For this grow, I'm planning to get to about 20% amber before she comes down. Based on that, probably harvest in about a week.
This Silver Haze clone grow has been very easy with few problems. I've barely touched her during the flowering phase (no defoliation or extra stress) which is returning great results so far.
She's not big, but she's producing some quality frosty buds. Looking forward to the quality control testing phase. 😊👍
Heat wave in Nov. 😎 The last week had some great warm weather and she's been out of the greenhouse during the day. She goes back in at night to avoid any damage in case of frost.
Buds are turning a deep purple and the fan leaves have a nice golden purple color. 😊
Flushing with water again this week.
Removed a few dead leaves and then decided to experiment with splitting the stem. Started by strapping the stem with 2 tie wraps about 3 inches apart. Then drilled two 1/8 inch holes just inside the strapping and then split the stem with a sharp knife to join the two holes. Cut some tines from a plastic fork and wedged them into the stem to open the cut. (see pictures) Not sure if this technique will work but I've done a lot experimenting with this girl and she's always come back strong. 💪
I'll let her sit for another week and then bring her down for the harvest.
I grew this plant from a SSH clone from the earlier summer grow.
Did some training during the veg stage which kept her small but she still produced some good bud. Never really touched the plant after that.
Keeping her small also allowed me to move her into the backyard greenhouse which allowed the grow to extend into Nov.
Looking close at the trichomes I see there is about 10-20% amber nodes and the rest are mostly opaque white.
Looking forward to some quality control in a couple of weeks. 😊
Lessons learned on the SSH run...
- A lot of experimenting with with LST & HST. Lolli popped the plant just before the flower stage. These plants can take a lot of stress and actually grow better depending on the technique.
- Some mold on one of the buds so I had to cut that out. This was caused by the high humidity in the greenhouse. Next time, open the lid of the greenhouse more often or install a fan to move the air.
- The Destiny Grow System with the nutrient enriched soil, ph balancer and grow teas kept the plants healthy and strong during the first half of the grow.
- The Botanicare Pro Bloom helped with the bud growth and the plants loved the addition of molasses every other feed. They rarely showed stress during the cycles.
- The small DIY greenhouse came in handy during the wet and cold days which allowed me to extend the season.
Smoke Experience....
Will be back to report after the bud has been cured. 👍
Very lovely looking plant very short for a silver haze but none the less awesome!
Keep up the great work looking forward to seeing more diaries from you!
Happy Growing!
