Glazed Grow 4: Chocolate Mint OG Auto

Took a summer break but we're back at it with a familiar strain with a new twist! I have been blessed with a bunch of tester/prize beans over the last year but these are the first seeds I have ordered and bought outright. NEEDED to get the Chocolate Mint OG Autos so I could revisit my first grow without the six months of waiting.😵 Two CMOG Auto seeds went into wet paper towel next to two ChemBomb Auto seeds also form the 2020 Humboldt release. (Will have separate diary!) Thanks for coming back, sorry for being away so long, let's do that h̶o̶c̶k̶e̶y̶ growing. DAY 2 - 09/03/20 Seeds are swelling/dark with a bit of split on the seems. All on track. One Chem-Bomb form the other diary already has a little split/tap forming less than 24 hours in. Tent is set up, will give it a clean and "soil my pots" tomorrow. OFFICIAL DAY 1 - 09/07/2020 Both CMOG Auto seeds germed, one was a little stuck in the shell with a short tap root but should be fine. Put right into the forever home 5gal fabric pots. I've been using VivoSun fabrics since my first grow but bought local instead of amazon. My local grow shop carries the RootPouch brand so I will be trying these out. The ChemBomb Autos from my other diary are a couple days ahead of the CMOG, having germinated quicker in the paper towel. Going to keep it on a loose 20/4 light schedule during the grow but will just be getting small plain waters/spray/humidity dome treatment for the next 2 days until they settle in. Day 10 - 09/17/2020 Both seeds sprouted and settled in! Smaller than the Chem-Bomb Autos in my other diary but still on track being a little behind. Very excited to see Chocolate Mint OG genetics back in the @GlazedGrow tent 😍 Still just watered with plain water, obviously a little more needed since they're right in the 5gals compared to the smaller starter pots of the Chem-Bombs. LST will be starting around Week 3/4 when they get a bit bigger. Water/Molasses feeds will start next week and basic nutes when the LST starts. Thanks for checking out this week! Day 15 - 09/22/2020 The girls have been named! Lots of Kroll Show lately so the two CMOG Autos will be Liz and... Liz. (It's based off their names!) Have to keep up with the watering more than the Chem-Bombs in my other diary due to them being in the larger 5gal RootPouch pots. The seed sprouts were smaller than the CB's as well so still well behind but on their way 🙌 Going to have to cut or fold down and clip the handles on the Root Pouch pots compared to the VivoSun pots I had before. I want to try and get these four in a ScrOg 💪 Has been plain water feeds + sprays to keep humidity up between 40/50% (The highest i can get it in my tent for now) Will start Molasses + Water feeds for the CMOG this week and the CB's when they get transferred this week. Day 27 - 10/04/2020 End of Week 4 and closing out on the first month! The last week has been stretch city with the CMOG! Lots of Veg growth, Plant 2 aka Liz B. seems like a different pheno/sativa structure to it with very spaced nodes and lots of height. Still have not added any nutrients other than basic tap water + Molasses and will start this week with basic Advanced Nutrients kit. Gave both a solid bend bordering on HST with a solid bend in each and some wooden skewers to help with bending and support. Very optimistic about the base both plants have grown already. Probably the best/fastest veg growth I've seen in my tent so far in my short 2 year growing career. I made sure to follow the HSO site carefully which recommended letting the plants dry out more between feeds and seems to have done the trick + Destiny Dark Matter Organic Living Soil. Sorry for the delay! Went back to work past two weeks and fell behind. Both doing well! Water + Molasses + First small Nute feeds with Advanced Nutrients Micro-Grow-Bloom. Day 38 - 10/15/2020 ...HERE COMES THE FUN PART! Full nute feeds, ScrOG getting together once a little Boo-Boo in Liz G.'s main stem heals up when i got a little rough with it 😱 Starting to get a nice smell off all plants. The CMOG ended up taller and straighter due to lack of LST compared to CHEM-BOMBs but the secondary sites are still coming along nicely. Nice dark hue filling Liz. B (Right) fan leaves very similar to the Photoperiod version of CMOG. Hope it has that same grape smell on the fresh buds too but I think it lost a bit of the Grand Daddy Purple from the genetics with the auto/kush cross. Didn't have a chance to pull them out for a good photo session since I had just fed them/chased with another gallon of plain water so the pots were wet. Back to work now but will try to keep up with higher quality posts, especially once the buds start coming in 🙌 Thanks for stopping by! Day 49 - 10/28/2020 End of Week 7 and now into Week 8! The two Liz's are both the bigger plants as the Chocolate Mint OG over-grew the Chem-Bomb Autos from my other diary. Even though both CMOG Auto seeds sprouted later/struggled to start the stress seems to have worked in my favour as it has in the past. I let them dry out a bit and gave them the final defoliation and LST set up to pull apart the plant and get light to all the secondary sites. Popsicle Sticked the bottoms of the smaller sites that would have taken energy away for larf so each site should be set up for quality over quantity. These are the two biggest auto plants I have grown so far so I am excited to see how thick the buds get on this one with the addition of the OG Kush Auto genetics compared to my Chocolate Mint OG Photo grow. Seems like the two I popped have really cut out the GrandDaddyPurp influence in the original photo line. No grape smell yet. Upped the nutes and molasses on the first feed yesterday Oct 28th. Took it well and no burning so after my next plain water ill add a bit more for the end of week 3 of flower. I didn't get them under the ScrOG in time because i had a partial brake on a Chem-Bomb so you can see in the group pictures i just applied the classic "tie to my pot" LST 😂 Will try to update for Week 8 ASAP, been back to work past few weeks so my free time to update has been cut down unfortunately. Week 8 - Oct 26 to Nov 2nd Alright so upon reflection in Week 8 of my Chem-Bomb Auto diary it was not the best week but nothing disastrous 🙌 Random November heatwave got the apartment room up to near summer temperatures but the airflow was fine with an open tent + second fan. Crisped the tips a bit with the heat and upping the nutes. This advanced nutes stuff is very salty for a soil grow and even the small amounts reported above, split between the 4 plants, still end up getting to the fan leaves. Using Molasses and plain water feeds between nute feeds this stuff is still very touchy. The Chocolate Mint OG Autos are bigger overall plants with more stretch in the last week. A lot more bud sites but overall the buds are still smaller so hopefully it finishes strong and really plumps over the next few weeks. More in Week 9! Thanks for checking in! Day 56 - Week 9 (Nov 3 - Nov 9) Can't wait to give the Auto version of Chocolate Mint OG a taste 😛 Doesn't have that candy grape smell that I remember from the photoperiod version but the Chem-Bomb Auto has a bit of it> The flowers on Liz and Liz are way smaller than Dale and Brennan from the other strain I have going right now but there are more overall sites. If they fatten up I think Big Liz could give me close to an ounce herself which would be a personal best in my short hobby growing experience 😻 Gave them the final defoliation and LST adjustment for the final month. Gave them a Molasses/Water feed and will go back to a nute feed in the new day or so. Turning on the side light here and there too but it has been a bit warm in my room lately due to a November heat wave so i dont keep it on all day. Looks like they're adding weight by the day so the good camera will have to come out by next week or the week after and I can stop holding my light/phone in my hands super awkwardly 😅 Thanks for checking in! Day 65 - Week 9 (Nov 12-Nov 18 2020) Liz is Big and LIZ is BIIIIIG. Big Liz G. is probably the biggest overall plant in height and circumference I've grown and the buds seem bigger/more developed than the other CMOG Auto Plant, ...Liz. If I did not bend it back for LST and the abandoned plan for a ScrOG it would be the tallest plant. I haven't measured yet but the main stem is probably in and around 20 inches which is the only time i can say that 😞 Just as hungry and thirsty as the Chem-Bomb Autos in my other diary 🙏 The buds aren't as big yet but I might have to take the CMOG down a week or so earlier so all plants can dry together. Feeding upped/changed a bit, from my concurrent Chem-Bomb Auto Diary: "They are thirsty, hungry and already fading quite a bit. Had to up the nutes a couple times this week and start adding Molasses/Big Bud to the water between nute feeds. Also had to change my feeding style and add more nutrients and scale up to a 2.5 gallon (6-7ish? Litres) between the 4 plants so I created a small concentrated mix of the nutes to spread across multiple jugs. I usually just split one jug of nute water between the 4 plants (2 Chems, 2 CMOGs) then rinse down with water but ended up with 2 gallons of nute water and and half gallon of plain just to wash down the top layer and get a bit of run off." I only have the one tent so I don't want to have the lights on if I bring the CB-As down before the CMOG. Might leave them both for a dark period after a flush at the end of the week and see how they look. Not far at all. Day 72 - 11/25/2020 - Week 11 (Nov 19th to 25th 2020) THE CLASSIC CHOCOLATE MINT OG SMELL IS THERE! Giving me flashbacks to my first ever grow 😱 Such a strong early skunk from the unripened smaller Liz B. plant that i have to keep checking for mould but that happened the first time i grew the photoperiod version too 😂 The more mature/ripe Liz G has the CLASSIC candy/grape/diesel smell in its final weeks that I was worried was lost in the Auto Cross. BUT IT'S THERE. Oh my. Even the classic cone bud structure from my first grow is there. Full nostalgia I love it. I can only imagine the main different will be MORE skunk/kush bitterness from the OG Kush/Ruderalis cross which I can't wait for. If you check out my other Chem-Bomb Auto diary running right now you can see a big different in bud shape between the strains, I hope i can open the window in the last few days and see if I can get a little purple out of the CMOG to see just how much Grand Daddy Purple genetics made it through. As you can see it looks like the plants are at LEAST a full week apart in terms of bud maturity even though they were planted on the same day. The bigger more mature Liz G. actually was a runt to start and quickly took over the tent. Main stock easily around or over 20 inches long but not that tall due to LST. Gave them a larger nute dose of the PH Perfect + Big Bud + Molasses early in Week 11. Just followed up today with a Molasses + 2mL Big Bud to 1gal water. Honestly after a flush and black period I could cut 3/4 plants down including my two Chem-Bomb Autos by start of next week but have to work the timing of the CMOG Auto Plant #4 Depending on how it looks by the end of the weekend i might take it early and sacrifice a bit of weight to have a bit of flower from this harvest that doesn't put me to sleep 😴 Excited to get back into the photo side of it as well, good way to kill quarantine nights by slowly plugging away at those. 💪 Kit: Canon 760D Sigma EX 18-50mm Canon US 75-300mm LED Light Panel Thanks for checking in! Day 85 - 12/01/2020 - Nov 26 to Dec 2 Big Liz is ready to come down and Little Liz is still about a week behind the other plants. Gave Big Liz the initial flush at the beginning of Week 12 with my two Chem-Bomb Autos: https://growdiaries.com/diaries/77697-humboldt-seeds-chem-bomb-auto-grow-journal-by-glazedgrow Gave Little Liz a custom feed since it still needs some nutes to stack up/mature. Gave it 1mL Bloom, .5 mL grow, 1mL Micro, 1mL Big Bud, and 1 Tsp Molasses then topped all with Diatomaceous Earth to stay safe. Finally got some pictures set up and if @humboldt_seeds_organization needs the originals without watermark let me know and i'm sure we can work something out 😘 The bud structure and smell is VERY consistent with the original photo Chocolate Mint OG strain. The classic christmas tree style bud with the dark red hairs I remember and the earthy/pine/gas smell. Biggest difference between the auto and photo strains seems to be Auto OG Kush addition during the cross. The Grand Daddy Purple influence with the purple colouring in the buds and the strong candy/grape smell hasn't made a full appearance yet. Liz G. is basically the largest plant I've ever grown, to paraphrase Liz's niece Denise. The buds keep getting fatter and taller and really settling into the classic "Pine Tree" bud shape I encountered growing the photoperiod version of CMOG. That being said my personal growing skills and techniques have definitely improved because the auto plant will probably get more yield in a 3.5 month grow than my first ever 6 month grow 😓 Liz B. is still behind I honestly think i could let it go another 2 weeks, I've been giving it small feeds but both CMOG have been in the dark past 48 hours or so as I get the Chem Bombs ready to harvest by weeks end. The fade on larger Liz G. has been going for about a week or more, was flushed just before that so that and my first bud wash should make it a very merry christmas smoke with a light cure for a solid sampling/update of my review. I might add a few more pictures to this week or save them all for the harvest post depending, will also try to get some footage like I did of the Chem Bomb last week and hopefully add some videos to the diaries in the next couple weeks as well. Harvested - 12/26/2020 - Updated 12/27/2020 Plant structure way different and the buds are the most dense I've ever grown, easily seen in the difference between plant weight 😍 104g Wet for Plant 2 compared to 52g Wet on Plant 1 😀 Seems to be a whole different terp profile as well, way closer to the original Photoperiod strain with the grape/purple influence. Will start to edit and try to get them up by new years 🙌 I smoked an early tester and it's stupid strong. The bud itself on Liz G. was very airy but absolutely frosted with crystal...
