Germination week!
Started 5 Purple Romulan seeds in paper towel, all germinated within 3 days.
Transferred to solo cups I set up the day before with 1/2” of perlite and a layer of nitrogen heavy organic amendments in the bottom, and then filled with my own living soil mix and watered with a quarter strength Micro plankton solution.
Getting into Veg now, 1,2,3,5 all showing 2nd set of true leaves, 4 is looking a little deformed, and not growing as fast as her sisters.
Switched to a 650w blurple, planning on upgrading this light again to a sun-like, full spectrum LED setup before flowering.
Noticed all of the plants have purple stems, could be genetics or a mag/Phosphorus deficiency.
Also noticed the leaves are quite waxy, particularly #3 (thinking this could be a different pheno?) Again could be genetics or possibly over feeding..
Going to cut out the marphyll this week, and just water with pure R/O water, will see if this makes a difference.
Week 3!
Big changes this week, my suspicions were confirmed, I think I either made my soil too nutrient rich, or didn’t bake it for long enough before using, a couple of the plants started showing deformities, and one some yellow spotting on the lower leaves. As soon as I noticed this, I did an emergency transplant into 1 gallon pots with a diluted soil mix, and we said goodbye to one of the seedlings that wasn’t growing the same rate as her sisters. They seem to be coming back well, new growth is looking healthy, no deformities, even the purple veins have turned green again, and all the plants have picked their leaves up nicely.
Could see signs that the soil was still too concentrated for the plants this week so decided to mix up a much weaker batch and repot into the final 5 gallon Smart pots, using layering techniques. Also took the opportunity to top them.
Pot Layers:
1. 2 tsp Blood Meal
2. 2” Steer Manure
3. 3:1 Soil Mix
4. 1” Worm castings
5. 1” coco coir
6. 2 tsp Dynomyco Mycorrhizae
7. Add rootball
8. 3:1 Soil mix
9. Worm castings
10. 2 tsp Blood Meal + Diatomaceous Earth
11. Bark Chips
Plants settling into their new pots this week, overall happy with how they have taken to the topping, and it looks like they are going to fill out without any LST needed, watered today, and took out some leaves to give the new alpha branches space.
