deFharo I'm starting a new grow with a photoperiod variety that has indica dominance: Quick Sherbet promises incredible aromas and effects with a flowering period of around 7 weeks. Genotype: Indica 75% - Sativa 25% from a cross between two greats: Sunset Sherbet X Black Lemon. The seed germinated in less than 24h and I transplanted it at 36h; the idea is to grow this plant for 12 to 14 weeks, depending on how the grow progresses. Until next time. Greetings to everyone!! 😃

deFharo 14 days old from seed, the seedling is standing tall and growing little by little. This coming week, I expect significant growth and strengthening. I'm going to keep the seedling in this 1L air-pot at least until the fourth week to give time for good root propagation and ensure a successful transplant to the final pot. For now, I'm just maintaining moisture with rainwater. Three days ago, I added a layer of mulch made from dry cannabis leaves. deFharo Third week of life and you can see the establishment in the pot, the seedling has made a vigorous stretch and is already showing very broad leaves, typical of indica strains. So far, the watering has only been to maintain moisture in the pot, I have inoculated Activated Microorganisms (AM) to promote root development and the dissolution of the substrate components. deFharo Fifth week of life and transplant to the final pot, a 6L Air-Pot, the plant is growing very strong, it has big, very unique leaves and a strong stem, it's going to be a great grow, for sure!! I filled the pot with a mineralized and very airy soil, since I have a complex about my bad hand regarding moisture during transplants, this time I moistened the original root ball and transplanted it into the dry soil of its new pot. This excess moisture in the original root ball will be absorbed by the surrounding substrate. Just 3 days later, I did the first watering with rainwater and Activated Mountain Microorganisms (MMA) to help the roots spread and absorb nutrients.... No more news for now 😎 See you soon!! deFharo Sixth week of life and one week since transplanting to its final pot. The plant is established, growing wildly; on day 38, I did an apical pruning to slow down vertical growth and boost the growth of the lateral branches. To help with the energy distribution to the side shoots, I added powdered auxins to the substrate and also did a watering with my lacto-fermented auxins, nutrients, and minerals. I’m going to switch this plant to flowering in the next few days because it's getting quite tall, and I have limitations in this aspect. I’ll wait a few days to tie some branches and shape the grow. During this week, I’ve done several very light waterings, gradually increasing the amount of water according to the rising consumption in the substrate. 😳 WEEKLY WATERING Day 38. deFharo Seventh week of life from seed, last week I made an apical cut to slow down the height, it seems the plant was expecting it and without pause after the cut, it has continued to grow, this time the lateral branches are pushing to reach the canopy. This week I have tied all the branches and tips to optimize the light exposure of the lateral branches and start shaping, I hope for good growth of the leaf mass this coming week to enhance photosynthesis. Water consumption is high, the plant exhausts the moisture in the pot in two days, typical of vigorous plants, I’m happy with this strain and hope to be even more so. As a distinguishing feature at this moment compared to my other grows is the color of the leaves, this plant has a beautiful emerald green unlike the darker greens of other strains I’m growing. Since this grow will involve numerous waterings, also due to the small capacity of the pot (6l), I’m going to be very careful with nutrient concentrations and totally strict, it was about time, with alternate waterings only with a bit sweetened water with honey or molasses to give energy to the microorganisms in the substrate. This week I’ve done 3 waterings, two with pure water and molasses and yesterday one with my fruit and mineral NPK biol, also yesterday I added solids on the surface: Dried blood (N, Fe), Kelp powder (Vitamins and minerals), Worm castings (micronutrients and NPK) and Red Kaolin Clay (Si, Mg, Fe), with these contributions I want to stimulate, as soon as possible, the growth of branches and leaves before the transition to flowering, which I’m delaying due to lack of space. deFharo Eighth week of life and this princess is becoming a queen. The plant has been strengthening all week, the stems are thickening and the branches are growing, it still lacks a lot of foliage, which it will surely have. The strain shows broad and large leaves typical of indica strains. I'm a bit scared of the size it's getting, also due to extending the growth period too long, this week I'm switching it to flowering, today I'm going to start reducing one hour of light each day until I reach 13/11. Another factor I haven't taken into account and that I think is a probable cause of the stretching and the little compactness I'm achieving with the lights in my Cool White cabinet, I'm completing the 18-20h of light after the 14h in the cabinet, taking the plant to a window where it gets direct sunlight, when there is any, for 3h, lately the days have been cloudy and the vigorous plant has been seeking more light and has stretched, of course, the strain also influences vertical growth, as with other crops I have growing simultaneously, the compactness is optimal despite everything. Midweek I was missing more foliage and I did a light watering with my Animal Protein Hydrolyzed (Amino Acids and minerals) to boost vegetative growth, I added 1% of my Bio pumpkin with MMA to regulate pH and provide vitamins. I'm alternating waterings with pure water to facilitate the absorption of all the liquid nutrients. Water consumption is high and rising, I water it every 48h, fantastic!! deFharo In the middle of last week, I switched the plant to flowering schedule after gradually reducing the light hours from 18h to 12h over 4 days. I also moved the plant from the growth cabinet to another one for flowering. The plant is showing great vigor, which translates into intense vegetative growth and increased water consumption. Despite all my efforts to bend the strain's tendency towards vertical growth and trying for more compactness with intense white light throughout the vegetative stage and LST, the plant responds to every action with more and more vigor and growth... this princess wants to become a queen!! 😅 Yesterday I tied down the two central apices again to reduce height; it will also help boost the growth of branches and buds in the canopy. The structure of this plant is lanky and it’s going to have a big head... where to place its queen crown!! 😮 The water consumption is very high, in line with the vigor the plant shows and the lushness of the foliage; photosynthesis is out of control!! 😍 Since the plant forces me to water every 48h, the watering and nutrition solutions are varied. This week I fed it with nutrient formulas that still aim for more vegetative growth before the plant starts showing flowers and switches to other specific watering solutions for flower creation. deFharo Second week of flowering, there haven't been any major changes in the plant, the branches have grown a bit, flower formation has started, the inner branches are numerous, the basic LST I did on the upper tips is showing results, I just hope the branches are strong enough to support the weight. With the drop in temperatures, water consumption has decreased a bit, but it remains high. This week three, two of them gentle to help the plant digest the solid inputs from last week, another with my auxin, minerals, and NPK nutrient mix, aimed at boosting vegetative growth and strengthening the stem and branches, and the auxin hormones will strengthen all the secondary branches, distributing energy evenly. deFharo Third week of flowering and 77 days of life from seed. The flowers are growing, everything seems normal, although it's a strain that has me confused; the leaves tend to curl downwards, the color is a lighter green than any other strain I'm growing, and the structure, while it has a strong stem, seems messy to me. I’ll be keeping an eye on the development of the buds this week. Some leaves have been affected by a humidity fungus; I’ve cleaned the leaves and isolated the plant with problems, hoping it doesn’t get worse. Water consumption has slowed down in the last two weeks after the cold wave, and I'm worried it's not recovering. This week I did one watering just with water and another with my pumpkin bio liquid with Microorganisms (MMA) to dissolve excess organic matter in the substrate and promote nutrient absorption. deFharo Fourth week of flowering, twelfth of life... What can I say?... I'm surprised by this strain, now its leaves are changing color, both the large ones and the new ones around the flowers. This trend to redden was noticeable since flowering began, where new purple leaves could be seen among the white pistils. From the start, this strain stood out from other crops due to the emerald green of its leaves; none of the nitrogen applications I made during growth changed this, so I thought this girl was just like that!! Of course, both before and now, the plant has a very marked personality, plus it shows exceptional strength in branches, stems, and flower buds, which makes me confident in the cultivation. I think the sudden drop in temperatures has accelerated this reddening process; the plant definitely noticed it with a drastic decrease in water consumption, and it's still recovering. The flower buds look very healthy, there are plenty of them, the only thing that worries me a bit is the little leaf mass and the yellowing of the large leaves; I cut some today. This week only two waterings, the first with Activated Mountain Microorganisms (MMA), to help dissolve nutrients in the substrate, the second six days later, a bit of animal amino acids and my fruit, mineral, and NPK nutrient lacto ferment. The truth is that for a water consumption of about 250ml daily, the efficiency in flower formation is fantastic... !! 😵 The reality is that each strain is an adventure, this lanky yet strong plant is creating buds that look out of this world, the ugly duckling is turning into a swan!! ... deFharo Four weeks of life and the sixth of flowering... the buds are growing majestically, competing among the dozens of them to stand out or reach the upper canopy, despite the little support from the leaf mass, which is scarce. Another thing I'm noticing with this strain is that it likes to be fed often; it's a glutton that demands food... so I'm going to give it to her!! 😍 Water consumption accompanies the development of the flowers, increasing every day!! deFharo Week 15, tragic week!! This plant has spider mites, the infection isn't as intense as the Purple Shot, but I'm seeing and removing infected leaves daily. Fortunately, there's no trace on the flower buds, the problem I see is that I'm leaving it without leaves and if the pests don't stop, they'll soon reach the buds. I've sprayed with diatomaceous earth which leaves a very ugly appearance on the plant. I think I haven't been very successful with this considering the advanced flowering stage. I'll try to wash the flowers before cutting; hopefully, it rains and I can take the plant out in the rain to wash off the diatomaceous earth and maybe get rid of some pesky spider mites. Anyway, I'm going to cut the plant by the 31st at the latest. I need the cabinet, and I've also seen that you can't wait too long at this stage if the bugs get in... my serious mistake in all these infected crops was not correctly interpreting the bite marks on the leaves that I attributed to excess light since I didn't see any bugs around. The truth is that I carried those same symptoms for weeks, and all the crops that have gone through the cabinet have been affected... the growing effort was in vain, but it has left me with a lesson that can be summed up in cleanliness and pathogen prevention. However, considering the limited leaf mass, the buds are growing decently, water consumption is moderate and stable, and I'm applying alternating waterings with Microorganisms and PK solutions to accelerate the growth of the flowers. deFharo Eighth week of flowering, a week of combat against the spiders that had treacherously settled on the plant, days of thorough observation, manual rubbing of leaves, and in the end, I've gone days without seeing any specimens; it seems that the treatment with diatomaceous earth and the low temperatures and humidity of these days have helped. I like diatomaceous earth as an insect preventive, but it makes the plant very dirty; during full flowering, I don't think it's advisable, as it also dusts the flowers. I'm going to try to wash it little by little before the harvest with rainwater. One problem I've noticed with washing flowers, which I've had to do with other plants, is that they lose a lot of aroma with water. I suppose THC isn't affected since it's not soluble in water, unlike terpenes. The plant is recovering its water consumption very quickly, and the buds are growing majestically, supported by a structure of sturdy branches and a strong stem, but with few large leaves, lost in the battle against the spider plague!! 😩 Even so, it seems that the plant has accelerated its metabolism after the disappearance of the parasites... in the end, it's going to yield a great harvest, as I've noticed significant swelling in the buds, which maintain great density and hardness, and when touched, they release a large amount of aromas... This week I've simplified the nutrition; it has been based on humic acids, phosphorus, and potassium to enhance bud growth. The plant is responding very well... if it maintains this evolution, I'll hold on to the grow for a few more weeks!! deFharo Today, day 127 of the grow, tenth week of flowering, I harvested this plant. There were signs of amber trichomes, and after its torturous life, battling a spider infestation that prevented it from fully developing and left numerous marks of its journey, it deserved it. The grow reacted positively in the last three weeks, once I managed to get rid of the damn spiders, but the plant could give no more. In the battle against insects, I sprayed water on the grow to create a humid and hostile environment for the pests, which caused the pleasant smell it emitted to disappear, but in the last week, it regained it, becoming the dominant aroma of the grow. This week, like the previous one, just very light watering with Microorganisms to help decompose the organic matter in the substrate and one more watering with my potassium hydrolysate from leonardite with PK minerals. There has been a good coincidence for the harvest with the waxing moon phase. The buds are purple, very hard and fragrant, also sticky, leaving all my fingers covered in hash that I’ve enjoyed smoking. The smell is very peculiar and pleasant; I hope it increases with the curing. For now, I have it drying; it will be like this for a week, and then I will share my impressions. After that, I’ll let it cure for as long as I can... now I have the stash well stocked!! 😋 Overall, I’m happy with the result, which would have been much better if I had identified the spider infestation much earlier. Still, the plant showed a lot of strength and managed to make it to the end!! 🙏 For now, I’m very happy to have harvested this plant and thus free, disinfect, and optimize my main cabinet, where with a new lighting system, I have already placed 4 of my flowering grows. Now I will gradually disinfect, clean, and check the lighting system of my other cabinets to fill them again with new organic grows and continue fighting pests and pathogens.
