Hey fellow growers this is my first one and I'm really excited for it. I initially had tried to germinate 4 different strains but the Cream Caramel didn't sprout so that's why there's this 3 day younger second Gorilla Glue just coming out of the soil. All of the others had seed helmets so I moisted them and they fell, however the Northern Lights kept an inside membrane of the seed which kept the cotyledon leaves stuck on each other for almost 3 full days before I moisted it again and gently pulled the membrane off with tweezers, now she's just opening up and I hope she's fine :)
I've kept them the first few days under plastic cups as umidity domes untill I saw the true leaves coming out, doing the same to the late Gorilla Glue baby.
Also I'm not really sure why they keep those cotyledon leaves pointing upwards but I've read its common so I'm trying not to worry too much as they look healthy
So a couple of concerns this week, I've started it by over watering them, I thought I was supposed to water the whole pot but after some reading found that the roots wont suck up the water and it'll make it harder for them to get oxygen, so I've let them dry for a few days, then watered them properly on thursday and then again yesterday.
When I overwatered though I was able to test the runoff of the water and its pH was at 7.2, which is worrying because I had been watering around 6.5, so the last two times I've watered them at 6.0. Haven't got any runoff the last couple times 'cause I'm trying to be gentle but I hope this issue was fixed. Now lets go over each one of the girls
NL seems to be struggling beautifuly to survive and I'm rooting for her (pun intended), but I'm not sure about her growth. By the middle of the week her stalk started to go really thin in the middle (as if someone squeezed it) and it's been having a timid growth. I've put some soil around the damaged part of the stalk so it would help the plant hold itself up. On the bright side, her true leaves have nice colors and she's growing tiny little second sets so there's still hope (although I don't know what those yellow cotyledons mean).
GG #1 had some trouble this week, I guess she took the pH alteration harder than the rest of the plants (possibly as she was the biggest at the time) and by the middle of the week showed really light colored new true leaves showing up, as well as two spots that appeared on one of the leaves (which I'm thinking might be some bug's bite cause I found one there the same day it appeared). However after the pH correction she's showing better color on the growth of the new leaves and looks like it's going to be fine.
Destroyer is this week's sprinter, growing perfectly over the past days and GG #2 is just as pretty with its new leaves showing up real good.
I think I have too much negative pressure in my grow so I a new cooler fan to boost some more air in, still haven't put it up though. Tomorrow I'm giving them their first nutes, starting with a temporary local root booster I got while my Tarantula isn't here and a little bit of sensi grow A/B, wish me luck and any tips are appreciated
New week came with some setback but also fixing of some issues with positive feedback from the girls. The last couple of weeks I've been struggling on trying to find the right height/intensity for my 120W quantum board and it seems like 50-60cm high and around 60% of intensity is enough and ideal for them. I think the slow growth and yellowing of leaves of GG#2 was due to light burn, and now she's showing a beautiful new growth. I've also learned how to water them and now it seems like everything is going fine. Started to use nutes this week, first off just with Sensi Grow A/B then my Tarantula arrived and by the end of the week I gave both of them and they seemed to like it. I think I was having low CO2 input since I still need to install one more fan for pushing air in so I have made a mixture of biological dry yeast, warm water and sugar to hang over them, that in theory would boost the CO2 inside the tent and since they've started growing more this week I figured they liked it so I replace it every couple of days or so Lets go over each one!
Unfortunately Northern Lights started crumbling since the begging of the week and ended up dying on wednesday
Destroyer is looking perfectly healthy and growing vigorously all week long
GG #1 seems to be recovering from the overwatering with wrong ph last week and is growing vivid green new true leaves pointing upwards which would mean I've found a good light spot
GG #2 seems like had a little bit too much nutes on her first feed and burned a bit of the tips from the first set of true leaves but now she's looking great (funny thing she has her second nodes with 1 and 2 fingers each instead of 3 but I guess that's okay)
That's it! Any tips are welcome :)
Great week! Girls have been growing happily with no big concerns, just enjoying their growth (and the smell that's starting to show up) <3 GG #1 has recovered fully and grown a lot this week and I'm really happy with her. GG #2 had curly and simmingly round-tipped true leaves but they look healthy (didn't find anything that explained those tips maybe it's a reflex from the previous burnt tip). Destroyer keeps on rocking. Now we can start to see the differences on the sativa x indica families, Destroyer is growing spaced nodes and getting taller each day, while GG #1 has more nodes but all of them are squeezed close together. Next week I'll start LST on Destroyer so I'll even out my canopy's height :)
Hey people I'm back for one more update
Seeing a better growth this week, they seem to like the new cooler fan I've installed to push more air in, I guess they were in need of that co2 because now they're growing really fast. I've started LSTing Destroyer and GG#1 this week and it's pretty amazing seeing the girls adapt to they places positions I set them to. I've noticed that the lower sites are growing way faster now that light can come in. I also increased significantly the dosage of nutrients since I thought GG#1 was showing signs of nitrogen deficiency, they seemed to like it aswell. I've been gradually increasing the amount of water I give them each time. I've introduced Bud Candy this week and it should stick with this girls untill harvest from now on. Looking forward to seeing their growth this week :)
Seems like after installing the new cooling fan they have more CO2 to work with and are growing fast, this was the first week I've seen signs of flowering on the Destroyer, lil' pistills coming out beautifuly as she grows tall. GG#1 is growing well too, while GG#2 still struggles with what I think must be some kind of root problem I haven't figured out yet that's making her grow more slowly. I'm keeping up with LSTing every day, bit by bit, to let light spread better through the canopy
They're growing nicely, lots of new branches coming out and looks like Destroyer is really in that pre-flower stage. Last watering I gave them this week had a little bit of bloom nutes in it so I could try to estimulate them to follow the Destroyer. GG#2 is still with weird looking leaves but new growth seems to be getting better. The increase of the nutes didnt seem to bother them (and I think I was giving them too little). Let's see how next week goes! Thinking about putting up the trellis net even though they're so small to try to even out that canopy.
Well this has been a busy week trying to get the girls even around the canopy as they're growing really fast (except for GG#2 still). I put up the scrog net and am doing some work on them everyday, spotting new growth and trying to even them out. I've also taken off some leaves that were blocking too much light and some of the smaller still undeveloped bud sites so they can focus on what's getting enough light. They are growing more and more beautiful as the days go by, with pistills shooting out like crazy and some sugar leaves appearing. It's a really joyful feeling seeing your first grow blossom :)
Those buds are getting fat! GG#2 sprinted this week and is reaching the size of her sisters, now entering late pre-flower compared to them, I'm guessing she'll stay a little longer after I've harvested the other two. Other than that, this week's been just the bliss of watching their bloom <3
