Started July 15 which is almost impossibly late for outdoor in Canada, but this Russian plant is supposed to be pretty tough and can handle the cold. We’ll see.
Plant started July 15.
Sep 22 Day 69: this auto was started late but is doing fine. We are at 53N in Canada which isn’t as far north as St.Petersburg (60N) where this plant is from, but pretty far north to try growing cannabis outdoors.
So far so good but the light fails quickly here so it won’t be great for flowering in October. This is the, uhhh, try it anyway plant as it can supposedly handle cold weather.
Sep 26: only 2C again last night for about the third time this fall. The cannabis plants stay on a warming table (sand box with a soil warming cable) overnight and that really helps them make it through some cold nights. On frost nights I’ll bring the plants inside the house, but for now the table is working fine.
Oct 3: the sunlight is getting pretty weak now so I doubt this will flower very well even if we do get good weather. The last few weeks have been very nice and sunny.
Weak sunlight late in the year and this plant clearly would do better being started in May or early June rather than July 15. It certainly seems like a good grower and should do fine here.
Oct 16: frost and a bit of snow last night. This plant may or not be dead now but it certainly won’t be harvestable. Will try it again next spring as it seems promising.
Yeah, it was dead.
