Right then! Hello everybody!!! After one semi-successful grow and two that have rather failed I'm back in the game! This time I'll be rocking the RQS Dance World and an OG Skunk from a regional seeds bank. I'll DEFEINITELY mainline these babies, bringing in the lessons I've learned from the previous grows. I'm hoping that temperature won't be an issue like last time, especially given that now it's NOT the middle of summer haha 😅. But just in case I'll be installing a proper intake fan and furthermore I'll upgrade my small fan to a bigger and better one. 👊 I'll be using the GHE Flora Duo nutes like usual. Also I've got a whole arsenal of anti-pest solutions at my disposal ready to be deployed at a moment's notice 💪 (hopefully it won't come to that though) Remember that it's always a beautiful day to be alive and keep growing, friends! ✌️🌿

Hello everyone! This week was more or less business as usual. I got that new intake fan installed, even though I realise now that there a reno pics of it haha. Also transplanted the little babies into their final growing spot aka 2 gal fabric pots. They seem to be growing ferociously and I will initiate the main-lining process (starting with topping) the following week. Stay fresh and keeping growing everyone :)

Heyooo!! This week is the week where main-lining begins! I've been looking at my previous diary and found out that I started topping them on day 17. This time I topped them on day 22 but as you can see the Dance World is way way overdue. She has 2 nodes on her third node already lol. She is basically ready for the second topping haha. But I'll let her recover first and then top her again. Also I'm leaving all the leaves and nodes below the third top on the Skunk since I want her to recover a bit faster in order to catch up a bit to the Dance World. The new exhaust/fan system seems to be working splendidly keeping a temperature of around 26-27 C and helping the plants produce strong stems. I'll see you here next week, in the meantime keep on growing, love you all :*

Heeeey there everyone! This week has been pretty much business as usual. As you can see from the picture the Dance World is taking off like a rocket. It's been topped three times. Very even growth all around, I think we're in for a treat. Great genetics by RQS!!! As for the OG Skunk, it's lagging a bit behind, probably a couple or so days away from its second topping. Also its stems are SO DAMN STURDY I can barely bend them! Growth discrepancy doesn't matter too much though as I will definitely flip them into flower at the same time in the end. As an unpredicted side effect from the uneven growth, I got to test two different types of topping. The Skunk is being topped pretty much as soon as I can leave enough of a stub after the cut, whereas the Dance World is getting topped after it has developed an additional NODE on top of the one I am aiming at. Follow the diary to find out the effects of these two topping styles. Until next time guys and keep on growing! :)

Hey all! This was the final week of main-lining. I've completed the topping of the Skunk. As you can see it's taking a bit longer to heal and catch up to the Dance World, but that's fine. It's been smooth sailing so far, only noticed a couple of dark spots on one or two of the leaves of the skunk. I think I'll hold off the cal-mag for now Depending on how the Skunk develops, this might be the final week of veg. See ya all next week and keep growing, friends!

Heyooo! Welcome to the end of veg! Yep, that's the last week these girls are getting 18 hours of light blasted in their faces. I pruned them a couple of times as you can see from the pictures before flipping. The pruning consists of removing everything below the top most node. I will most probably prune them one last time at the end of this week (1st week of flower). Afterwards I'll keep removing lower growth at a more need-to-cut basis. The unlucky streak with oscillating fans continues as this one broke as well... I've already ordered two Growth Technology clip-on fans, hopefully I'll get them installed ASAP and give you guys a feedback if they're worth the money. Anyway, these girls look super healthy and totally ready for the flip, so let's go! Keep on growing friends!

Heyoooo!! Welcome to the first week of flower! These girls have started their stretch to the heavens and are looking absolutely beautiful! Like I mentioned last week I performed the final pruning trimming out everything below the top-most nodes for both plants. They'll be getting some more pruning for sure but probably not that harsh. Also I bough a new fan! It's the Cyclone 6 clip on fan and so far it's BY FAR the best one I've ever bought. It's quiet, it's powerful, it's got a strong clip. What more can I desire from a 12 euro desk fan? Naturally I've started them on the pre-flower nutes as well as increasing their water supply to 1.5l every three days or so. Thinking of giving them some cal-mag just because, we'll see about that though. So far it's been pretty much smooth sailing Keep on growing, everyone and see ya next week!

Hey guys! Week two of flower is in the books! And this one was smooth sailing, as smooth as they come in fact. Nothing out of the ordinary, as it is to be expected by this time of a main-lining grow. I also let them grow completely on their own, no intervention from my side. I'm still giving them pre-flower measures of nutes as they are still stretching. If I remember correctly, last time around the pre-flower phase lasted for about 2 and half/3 weeks. That means that by the end of this week there should be a lot of white pistils showing! I can't wait :))) See ya next time friends and keep growing!

Hey there fellow growers! Flower week 3 and this one's been pretty smooth sailing yet again. Full blown flower nutes are now the order of the day and the plants seem to be entering the final leg of their stretch. I have been defoliating ever so slightly, pulled a handful of leaves for the entirety of this week. I have been wondering whether I should prune all the lower (read larfy) nodes...but I think I will leave everything as is and see how it goes. Happy growing everyone!

Hey there everyone! Another flower week is in the books and again there's not much to add to the pictures since they pretty much speak for themselves haha. I've defoliated less than a handful of leaves that I thought were blocking lower nodes from receiving direct light. There's a weak smell coming out of the tent now and you can see the bud production is soon to be complete, which means we're close to flowering proper!! Have a great week and keep growing friends! :)

Hello, fellow growers! This week has been a little bit more rocky than usual. I noticed nutrient burn on the tips of the Dance World and decided to water (at least) once with water only. Should I do that again? I don't know, so what I'm planning is watering with nutes on 1/2 strength or so and then alternating between just water and nutes. Apart from that minor setback the girls are looking great with a loooot of bud on them.... I haven't yet been able to produce that much bud so far! Check out the bonus underskirt pic! Have a great week and keep growing, friends!

Hey everyone! Staying true to my word, in order to prevent a nutrient lock-out, I started alternating feed/water while also LOWERING the amount of nutes by half. The Skunk is taking to it VERY WELL, meaning that I'll UP the dose for sure. The Dance World is still struggling somewhat so I'll keep the nutes where they are for now. Apart from the nutrient situation everything is going smoothly. The smell coming out of the tent is becoming more and more potent which is nice (until we have friends over of course lol). I think the buds are starting to fatten up 'cause I noticed and increase in volume in the Skunk. Also we had a small discussion in the comment section of last week with @sacredgeometry on the topic of "When should I STOP pruning when main-lining", check it out and feel free to throw in your input, the questions is by no means settled :D Have a nice week everyone, until next time and keep growing!

Hello everyone and merry Christmas!!!! This week was pretty much business as usual nothing too special to report. The buds are fattening up nicely, I'm predicting about 10g per branch haha. Also the smell coming out of the tent will soon become a nuisance... Hope you had a nice Christmas time and see you around next week :)

Happy 2021 everyone!!! Hope you have a great year full of bud :) This week is a bit short in terms of photos since I was out of town. However there are two major updates for the grow tent. After the smell becoming quite strong I figured I need to finally put the carbon filter on. After doing that, however, the little computer exhaust fan I was using was not able to cycle out the air fast enough and the humidity levels rose to NEARLY 80% !!!! 😨 So as a solution I bought a small dehumidifier and a new (much stronger) exhaust fan. The humidity now stays at about 45-50% and it's all good in the hood (although the new fan is quite loud so I turn it off during night time and turn the old fan back on instead). As you can see from the pictures the buds have fattened up quite nicely. I don't know how much time is left...perhaps I'll post a question when to harvest. That's all for this week, have a great year everyone and keep on growing! :)))

Heeeellloo, everyone!! We're approaching harvest time! Dance World is, as usual, a week or so ahead in the game (trichome development). I'll probably harvest it before the end of this week and will probably wait a bit more for the Skunk to turn cloudier and harvest it as well. I've started both plants on GHE Ripen hoping that it'll help the trichome development. I've read some contradicting opinions on it on the internet, have you guys tried it? What do you think about it? Anyway, I'll be following the trichome development closely and getting me choppers ready ✂️✂️ :D Keep growing, friends!

JUST HARVESTED: Growing was rather easy. It's hard to give a full review at this point since it still needs drying and curing, so I'll update this once I've a better idea so stay tuned. DRIED AND CURED (for a few days): Alright guys, this strain is awesomeeee!!! Had a few sessions with my DynaVap M and I've to say that I'm pretty pleased! The taste is great, can't really map it to anything like a fruit or something but it's super fresh and definitely not overwhelming. The smells is awesome and the high is very smooth as well. It's definitely not a couch-lock kind of thing. Can't say I want to DANCE either to be honest haha, but it's definitely UPLIFTING. All in all I'm very pleased. Will I grow it again? With the incredible variety out there I can't say for sure, but this would be my go-to CBD high strain FOR SURE.

Well well well! First truly successful harvest! As it stands, wet bud is MORE than 500g (my scale only goes up so much...), which is amazing! The Dance World was rather easy to grow I would say, not too many hiccups along the way. I will report back once it's dried with full details of taste/effect, so be sure to follow the diary to its completion!

Hello everyone and welcome to the beginning of the end!! At the start of this week I harvested the Dance World which is still drying right now and it'll probably take some more time before it's completely finished since the temperatures here are ridiculously low like 14 degrees C.... Anyway it's looking promising but I'll upload the final photos once it's done drying and I'm done trimming it so make sure to follow the HARVEST post to check that out ! As for the Skunk, as you can see it's progressively yellowing out meaning that the GHE Ripen is having some effect! I've been only watering it this week and checking trichomes every other day and I'm pretty confident that by the end of this week it'll be CHOPPED AND HUNG TO DRY! Which means END of this diary! Wohoo! It's been quite the ride haha Make sure to check out the next post as it probably will be the SKUNK HARVEST one! Stay warm everyone and keep on growing!!!

Heeey guys! This bad girl has made it through another week! Look at the thricomes...they are getting cloudier but I was not completely satisfied (pictures were taken 3 days ago). Anyway I'll probably chop her tomorrow or there about. Not much to report. Have been flushing her for two weeks straight, she LOOKS like she's ready...dunno how long I'll hold out haha :D BTW: I Updated the DANCE WORLD harvest, go check that out, some nice buds there! See ya on chop day, my dudes! Keep growing!

Pretty straightforward grow. Nothing too unexpected. WAY different than the RQS Dance World. This one was very bulky, with think stems and huge fan leaves whereas the RQS DW had thin stalks and smaller leaves in general. Also higher potency, dunno if it sits at the promised 19% THC but it's STRONG!

Well about a MONTH later from harvest I've finally managed to post this. Whew! This baby is a killer I'll tell you that much! She smells super nice and the hits are suuper smooth and relaxing. Definitely STRONGER than the Dance World! Now I've so much of this stuff I've no idea what to do it LOL! Anyway thank you to all who spared a moment of their life to browse through the diary I think it was a resounding success! I'll definitely be growing more, just not right away. Probably at the end of August? We'll see... Until then until when, take care everyone and keep growing!!

Looks awesome so far. Hey I noticed you did quite a bit of pruning. I am mainlining as well for my first time so I am curious. It looks like you pruned everything below the top most node right before 12/12. Is that to prevent side branching and larf? I'd imagine that side shoots would reach the canopy if you didn't prune those?
sacredgeometry
sacredgeometrycommented4 years ago
@tapciganin, Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely gonna try the conservative approach. Probably prune away the lower 2/3 of each branch a week before flowering. If I have the space and the branches get good lighting I will keep them. If I end up with larf, well l really love making hash.
tapciganin
tapciganincommented4 years ago
@sacredgeometry, Hello there, mate and thanks for taking the time to check out the diary :) ! "When should I stop pruning" is definitely the question I had most trouble with. There's not a singular source of truth on it and the consequences of doing it wrong can be quite frustrating to deal with. Larf and side branching is definitely what will happen to a poorly pruned plant. And loss of yield is what you can expect if you prune too much! WHAT I did: I kept diligently pruning everything below the topmost node up AFTER the plant had THREE OR SO nodes AFTER THE LAST TOPPING and up until the end of WEEK 1 of flower. You can go back in this particular diary and follow that process. The result so far is PRETTY UNIFORM colas and SOME larfy buds at the bottom of each branch WHY I did it: I REALLY don't want side branching and I would rather not have TOO MUCH larf and I PREFER nice uniform colas. I don't have space to accommodate two plants' side branches, larf is meh (I don't care too much about it) and uniform colas are a basically a LIFE GOAL for me at this point haha :D WHERE did I learn that: I learned some of my main lining techniques from a youtuber named RowsOfGreen and his series called "Mainlining for Colas". He stops pruning at week 1 of flower as well, so I figured why not try it. Check him out, he explains stuff way better than me. ALSO I snooped around other people's diaries and tried to figure it out by my own, but the variety of techniques is so great that I concluded there is NO SINGLE RIGHT APPROACH and followed my gut a little! Conclusion: Two approaches - Conservative and Cola-Lover. -- Conservative approach - stop pruning at week 1 of flower. Some larfy buds, virtually NO side branches. -- Cola-lover approach - prune up to at least week 3 of flower. Probably no larf at all? I HAVE NOT TRIED THAT, but boy was I tempted haha My suggestion would be: be as conservative as your heart allows you too until you know where the plants' boundaries are, from then on keep expanding your technique as far as you can. Patience is a key ingredient here :) WORD OF WARNING: This is only my SECOND attempt at main-lining so take everything I say with a pinch of salt :) BONUS: I'll post pictures of the smaller/larfy buds at the bottom of the plants for you so you can see what you will probably end up with if you follow my 'strategy'. I'll post either tomorrow or on Saturday. If you've got any more questions I'll happily answer to the best of my abilities/ Take care and keep growing, friend! :)
