Welcome back old friends and new!! It is time for another grow. What we have is herz og auto from exotic seeds. I soaked the seeds in water for 14 hours at 75 degrees F, then I took my 3 gal smart pots filled with promix HP, and lightly watered in the area where I wanted to plant the seeds. I planted the seeds off center in order to make it easier for the LST in week 3 or 4. Both seeds sprouted about 2 days after being planted in the pots. They are getting nothing but plain water until week 3 or a little sooner if they start showing any deficiency. I will be feeding calmag, and general hydroponics bloom for the entire grow.....thats right, a bloom nute for the entire grow, call me crazy but we will see how well they do. I have 3 different strains from exotic seeds, They sponsored the diary of the month a few months back and my last diary won.....so I'm going to review all these strains starting with this one. So far she's doing quite well, fast germination, good rate of growth. I planted 2 of them, but this diary will mainly follow the life cycle of just one plant, with a few group photos thrown in in the later weeks. Both plants are about identical, with one have a bit longer stem. I plan on dropping the light down to 24 inches in a few days once the second set of true leaves is more developed. So until next week, smoke up! Also this time around, if anyone wants to ask any questions, feel free to message me, I'd be happy to chat.
Welcome to week 2! Pretty good week, lowered the light to 24 inches for veg stage. Gave a very light feeding on day 11 to see how they would react, saw some decent growth 24hrs after feeding so now I will feed every other watering slowly increasing the amount of nutrient in the water each time until I reach my max dosage. The plant im doing this diary on is slightly behind the other plant I have, due to the fact that this plant had the seed hull stuck on it, so it took her a little extra time to get her leaves out. I'm pretty happy with this breeder so far, but time will tell. Until we meet again, keep em lit and happy growing!
Welcome to week 3! Looks like she hit the 2.5 week growth spurt. Started with real watering this week, up until now I just gave small amounts. Upped the nutrient to .5 tsp per gal, looks like she's fine with it, will be going to full strength soon. I moved my light up to keep the distance at 23 in, no signs of stretch or light stress so i'll keep it where it is for now. I will begin LST tonight or tomorrow, as she's about ready for it. Overall looking pretty good, she's starting to smell a little which is nice. Tune in next week for LST fun, until then happy growing my friends. Oh almost forgot, my other plant is showing pistils already..............same age, same nutes, same everything, but that one is starting flower after 21 days, some weird genetic flaw perhaps, she's shorter and denser with very tight node spacing. I have a feeling they won't be finished anywhere near the same time, but you'll have that I suppose.
Welcome to week 4 fellow growers. Its officially flower time, I have pistils on both plants. I would have like a little more veg time, but thats the game we play with autos. Started LST at the beginning of the week, once she filled in I removed just a few select leaves to expose all my bud sites. I may remove a few more in the coming days if absolutely needed, but no more after this week. Haven't moved the light due to losing some height from LST, from here on out i'll only move it if she grows too close, or if I see signs of light stress. Next watering is tonight, which will be plain water ph'd to 6.5, my runoff at last feeding was a tad low (5.6) so the 6.5 water tonight will help balance that out. Next actual feeding I will be going to my max strength on maxi bloom (1tsp per gal) with 1tsp calmag per gallon. I don't go any higher than that because i've found that I start getting yellow tips if I do. But she looks pretty good at the moment and thats the important thing. Until next week, take care of your babies and pass the bong.
Welcome to week 5! Lots of good growth this week, shot up a good 4 inches, and bushed out some more. Went up to full strength on the feed and calmag, no signs of nute burn, or deficiency. I didn't do much more LST other than the initial main bend, with a few adjustments. Finally got runoff ph up to 6.1, ended up taking a couple waterings. Im now having to water every other day, so any future adjustments will be much quicker. Until next week, happy growing!
Welcome to week 6! Well she shot up 10 inches this week, but that may not all be good. It seems as though she has some phosphorus deficiency, some red petioles, older leaves dark green, some rusting and curling on a few leaves. The other plant (see pics) is shorter, denser, way more bud sites, and no signs of deficiency, both plants have been treated exactly the same for their whole lives, so i'll be giving her some extra P in tonight's feeding to see if that will help her out. Ph is good, temps, humidity, light, all good, they haven't been given a ton of food, and this issue has only started as she really got into flower, which what leads me to believe she wants some more P. We shall see what happen after a couple of adjusted feedings. Figures the plant im doing the diary on is the one with issues, the other one is beautiful.....oh well, it is what it is. Until next week, stay baked, and happy growing.
welcome to week 7! Added a bit of beastie bloomz for a couple feedings to see if it would help my suspected phosphorus deficiency. While it seemed to slow the progression of the problem, im not convinced the amount of P is the issue. So, what I did was give her a flush with 5.9 water, and next feed will be a normal dose of maxi bloom and a normal dose of cal mag, and we shall see what happens. Despite all that crap, she has a decent amount of bud sites, and they are all super frosty already, I don't think it will yield as much as my other plant (which still looks amazing), but if I can get this nutrient issue squared away, I still think I can get a decent amount out of her. I think the herz og auto is a newer strain, which may account for some of the genetic variance between my 2 plants, its hard to say only growing 2 of them at a time. I would have to grow a few more before I blame things on genetics. Well until next week, I wish all my fellow tokers good growing.
Welcome to week 8! Happy thanksgiving to all my fellow north american growers. This week has been nothing bud bud stacking. The stretch is over, and despite the issues with nutrients, or more likely light burn, she has been stacking buds pretty well, although my second plant is doing way better as far as bud sites, that thing is loaded, and they are really stacking up. So I decided not to fool with light distance or intensity due to the fact that plant 2 is about as perfect looking as I could hope for, so plant 1 will have to deal with it. I will say plant 1 has a wicked good smell to her, reminds me of blueberries. I've settled on a feed, plain water, feed, plain water cycle, with slightly reduced amounts, im going with .75tsp per gallon instead of my origonal 1tsp. They seem to have no issues with it thus far. Until next week, smoke that tumbleweed.
Welcome to week 9! We are moving along, seeing some pistils turning brown, and have some cloudy trichomes. Based on my observations and the breeders flowering time, i'm thinking 2-3 weeks left. Plant 1 doesn't have a ton of buds, but man are they dense and full of trichomes. Plant 2 (last picture) pretty much looks like one giant bud, there are buds everywhere, and I mean everywhere, the picture doesn't do it justice. However I have a feeling they are not going to be as dense as plant 1, which is ok, because any larfy buds will go to making infused oil or butter, so it all works out just fine, and who knows, she might firm up more than I expect, time will tell. Well thats about it for this week, I really didn't do a damn thing except water and or feed every other day, they are both sucking down a gallon each every 2 days. Alright, keep em lit and happy growing. See ya next week.
Welcome to week 10. We are getting close now, plant 1 (main plant featured in this diary) is getting quite cloudy, a few amber here and there, and coolest of all, some trichomes are completely purple. I figure 7-10 days left on her. I had to secure quite a few branches to the main stem with twist tie because the branches were starting to fall over from the bud weight (always a good thing). Plant 2 is cruising along on autopilot, I haven't had to do a thing to her, a blend of cloudy and clear trichomes on her, buds aren't as heavy as plant 1 but there are a ton of them, all medium density. She probably has 2 weeks left, so im counting on a little more density by harvest time. So far, these girls have been a blast to grow, and aside from the one pheno that has a light sensitivity (in fairness to the plant I am really putting the light to her), there haven't been any problems. Of course I will have to see what harvest brings, and how she smokes.....but so far I'm liking exotic seeds, I have 2 other strains (photos) from them, and I'm looking forward to testing those out. Well thats about it for this week. Until we meet again, grab some of your finest homegrown and light her up.
Welcome to week 11. Getting close to harvest time now, i'm guessing about a week, but we shall see how things play out. They are on plain ph'd water now, to get em all nice and clean before chopping. Haven't had to do anything to them this week, just letting them do their thing. I may post one more week of flower depending on if they are ready or not, if they are ready im waiting until after they are dried and trimmed to post the harvest week so I can give an accurate dry weight. So until next week or possibly 2 weeks, stay right and grow on.
Hello, and welcome to week 12. Merry christmas eve fellow growers, not much going this week, just more ripening, I did feed them once more as they weren't moving along as fast as I anticipated. As it stands now, its looking like harvest in 5 days or so. This last bit of waiting is always the hardest, but the reward should be worth it. Until Harvest, smoke em up and good luck.
Well friends, the time was upon us. They got the chop and dried for 7 days 68 degrees 55% humidity. Very happy with the yield, plant 1 gave up 47.5 grams, and plant 2 was not far behind with 39.5 grams, for a grand total of 85.2 grams, just over 3 oz, and that is just smokable bud, I aslo got enough trim and larf to make 24oz of infused oil (72 individual doses). My experiment of running autos in 3 gallon pots only feeding them bloom nutrients for the entire grow has definitely worked out. Very impressed with this strain, and exotic seed in general, next grow is going to be quick sherbet from exotic seed as well, except that one is going to be a photoperiod. Looking forward to that grow for sure, probably going to stick to the exact same setup as this grow . If you haven't ever tried exotic seeds, i'd recommend giving them a shot, 1.5 oz per auto in 3 gallon pots is pretty respectable in my book, and I know I could increase that yield by at least 30% if I were to go up to 5 gallon pots, but I prefer the 3 gallon in the tent im using now as it allows more space for equipment and ease of plant access. Well its been a great grow, and I can't wait to get the next one started (probably in 3-4 days), so until then, happy growing, and best of luck to you all.
