First signs of flowering this week. Not planning on doing any LST/topping. First nutrients near the end of this week. My other plant was showing signs of cal mag deficiency at this point so I added some calimagic to the mix.
Lots of growth, took out the Calimagic and added some tiger bloom. I think I added too much grow big - Blu started to show a nitrogen excess with some dark green and glossy leaves. This also could have been due to salt buildup, as I wasn’t watering for runoff because of the size of the pot vs plant.
Spent the week flushing the nutes/buildup out with pH 6.5 water. No new nutrients added and runoff decreased throughout the week from 1700 to 1150 ppm. Growth is slowing and blu seems to have reached a max height of around 17 in. from soil.
My photo plants are ready for flowering so I changed the light schedule from 10/6 to 12/12
Buds are looking good. Seeing an increase in orange hairs and trichomes forming. Ppm came back down to a normal level and with the last flush was about 830, so I gave Blu some nutes (came out to about 700ppm, 6.5 pH). Caused the levels to be a little elevated again. Overall doing okay, though!
All caught up on posts as of this week. Blu is looking good. No nutes this week to try and keep the ppm and pH in a good place. I think I’ve got about 2-3 weeks left before harvest based on the trichomes.
The main cola is looking much farther along then the buds on the side branching, but I’m sure that could change over the next few weeks.
Getting closer. I had a bit of nutrient excess going on so I stopped giving nutrients late last week.
Trichomes are starting to get more opaque and I feel like I might be closer to harvest than I initially thought, so I did a flush this week too. PPM ended up at about 700.
I was definitely not planning on harvesting today; I think it could have used another week. But, I found some mold on a few of the browning leaves near the top of the plant and got paranoid about bud rot developing. When I started to trim I noticed that the affected leaves (brown and crispy with small dark grey round spots near the edge) were only affected up until the point where the flower was grown out to. Then the leaves were green, no signs of rot on the inner bud. I’m thinking maybe leaf septoria? Not totally sure yet.
It’s been rainy and humid inside, especially within the last few days, so this outcome makes sense. I think I’m going to invest in a dehumidifier.
Anyways, all is good otherwise and the bud is hanging in the drying tent at 49% humidity and 68F. I’ll update with more photos during the dry/cure process.
Update: I popped the nugs into a jar after about 6 days of drying in a temp/humidity controlled tent.
I had to smoke some - the piney/earthy smell disappeared and the smoke was smooth and sweet, the berry flavor really stood out didn’t cough at all, and can’t wait to try it again after the cure.
