This is the beginning of our week one of flowering for these clones. We received these from a friend who is helping us solidify our setup. We have added two clip fans, an extra 300w LED bank, and re-routed the airflow and exhaust system. This will be our 2nd official grow; while it's only a 8-10 week flower; we are moving from 4 plants that produced a couple ounces of popcorn buds to 2 clones in an effort to maximize efficiency and learn more.
First week in the new set up was glorious. The plants are looking strong and healthy. Each plant are about 3 inches. Bud spots are revealing themselves slowly around day 6. We watered on day 5 so we are looking to water again in the next day or so. For weeks 2 through 4 we will be using a 'Bud Igniter.'
This past week was really good. The ladies got in 2 good water days. When we got them out of the tent tonight they were so vibrant in colour and they smell wonderful. We trimmed up some of the bigger fan leaves just to give them a little more room in the tent and then put some tomato cages in the pots for support. The bud spots are very prominent now and looking amazing. I think we are going to press a few of these leaves because they are large!
We did our first grow with no nutes so this time around a friend is helping us out with some nute knowledge. I don't know the products 100% but there is on main nute we use at 5 ml/L throughout the whole flower accept for when we flush and then we are using a bud igniter (I believe) at 2ml/L for weeks 2 through 4. We are definitely noticing a huge difference this time around!
This week we've noticed a lot of love from the ladies! The bud spots are starting to pop and the trichomes are starting too show as well! We are going into our last week of the bud igniter, and then it will just be straight Terra Flores until we flush. The smell is still slight. We did another trim today and accidentally snipped a little bit of bud and that made the smell really pop. Let us know if you like these pictures better, the last few have been under the grow lights so they seem over exposed. What is your stand on trimming during flower?
Can you say TRICHOMES ?!?!?! HOLLLLY !!! This week was our last week with the Big Bud Bud Igniter and it has certainly made a difference! The buds are thickening for sure! The smell is amazing, the trichomes are gorgeous, and the weight is definitely increasing. We have changed the direction of the clip fans in the tent. Before they were directed towards the LED banks to dissipate any heat that may be radiating from them, but we wanted to increase the temp in the tent a bit and try to strengthen the stalks. So we directed the clips to blow more directly towards the plants and that increased the temp about 2 degrees when the lights come on. We went from 21 to 23 degrees on average.
This week we have noticed a lot of changes! The Northern Lights is capped off at about 28". She's looking very frosty and her gorgeous red hairs have started to pop. The OGPK has capped off at about 25". She is also very frosty and is getting nice and thick! We have started using Advanced Nutrients Overdrive for weeks 5 & 6 and will do our last 4 waters as a flush in our final weeks. We are looking at an 8 week flower. Our tent dropped just below 20 degrees with lights off for the first time on day 35. We had the temp with the lights on up to 24.5 degrees on day 31 but cannot seem to keep it consistent. I feel like the basement space in the colder days we've been having has something to do with that. Any suggestions on regulating temperature?
Sorry for the late post, (posting Monday instead of our usual Sunday post).
We watered Saturday night & that should be our last Nute. The plan is to flush w/ straight water from here on out. We upped from 1L. per. water, to 1.5L & then 2L & the ladies gobbled them up, until Saturday. Both girls spit out a little water on Saturday night & that was a first. OGPK spit-up right-away & Northern Lights took a little while. We checked back a bit later and they hadn't leaked-out any more, but it was a first & boy-oh-boy, was that spit-up "orange". OGPK leaked-out, probably a half litre. We cleaned that up, got her back into a dry dish & by the time we were done with that we had to clean-up about a 1/4 litre from N.L.
I took picks in the dark today, so I apologize for any glare from flash, but I wish you could see how waxy, shiny, frosty & tasty these ladies are looking. We left the 1K LED Bank in place from the other day & decided we're just gonna' ride that out til harvest. I imagine consistent light & stable conditions are optimum, but we're 2 weeks out from harvest & we're gonna' see what we get. We're already overjoyed with the girls & how well they've done.
We had some temperature issues coming into the colder months as the grow room is all concrete in the basement. So, we did some modifications to mildly insulate the room and got the big tent up and running with new LED banks for Flower and have our smaller tent ready to be refurbished as a 'lab' tent for seeds, clones, and veg!!
We were hoping for bigger yields this time around but will probably get the same amount as our first grow from just 2 plants instead of 4.
There were a lot of changing factors during the course of this grow, we are hoping to have a more efficient process going into grow #3!
We have been flushing with 4 Litres of PH'd water!
Note* we are PHing the water with fresh lemon juice, (2ml/L)
Today was Harvest, Wet-Trim & Hang, we'll have to wait a bit more for dry-weights, flavours & effects. We were given a couple of clones from a family friend to try our hand at a straight, 8-Week Flowering. With both plants in the tent, we were able to really cut out teeth & watch as each plant responded differently. What was instantly surprising during the initial harvest was the drastic difference in overall yield. I'm sure we over trimmed, early on & as a result, Northern Lights came in looking thinner, taller & by comparison, OGPK came in looking a bit shorter, stout, thicker, heavier & much fuller. At the scales, Northern Lights comes in at 106.56 grams (wet), OGPK 76.4 grams (wet). So, that big buffy, thick look certainly didn't tell the tale. We'll have more in a few weeks once we get dry, trimmed weights & hopefully we'll have some flavours & effects to report!
