Intro: This is going to be a comparison dairy between Organic and Salt Based Nutrients using the same genetics. This diary is the Organic grow of the strain above. I will be also growing an identical grow in another diary using GH FloraNova nute line. Medium, environment, genetics, training and lighting will all be the same except for the nutrients used. Please check out the other dairy and see how this is keeping up with the salt based nutes. This will be an Organic grow of Brothers Grimm Feminized Cinderella 99 aka Cinderella XX. After germination seedlings will eventually be transplanted to a fabric pot. All amendments are OMRI certified and Non-GMO Organics. Seedling Starter medium: + 3 parts Canadian Peat Moss + 1 part Dr Earths Compost + 1 part Perlite + Pre-Amended with 1 Tbsp of each Dr Earths All-Purpose, Starter, and Tomato and Vegetable Organic fertilizers. Per gallon of medium. + Other Amendments used was 2 tbsp of each Dolomites Lime, Oyster shells from Down to Earth and Insect Frass 2-2-2. 1 Tbsp of Azomite from Down to earth. Per gallon of medium. + Medium will be inoculated with Recharge, Orca, and Dr Earths Metabolic Transformer using 1/2 tsp per 1 liter of water to kick start microbial life in the medium. —Day 1 (10/11/2020): Germination of seeds will be first kick started by soaking seeds in a shot glass of RO water for 2 hrs. I will then sow each seed 1/4-3/8” deep in a small 8oz planter pots full of the Starter medium mentioned above. I will then water each pot with the Inoculation solution mentioned above til medium is moist and not saturated. Seeds will be placed in a closed germination tray on top of a heating pad set to 80F. I will update accordingly for each intervention to keep everyone posted. Please leave me any tips and suggestions as the grow progresses! Thanks and grow hard and prosper! — Day 5 (10/15/2020): So far so good! It seems all the seeds have broke through the surface of the medium. So far I have removed the heating mat and lowered the Fluorescent to 6” from8”, I have also went to 18/6 from 24 light schedule. I cracked open the dome at least 2x a day to let fresh air. The dome vents will be kept 1/2 open until all seedlings have their full set of true leaves, then I will ween them of the dome. I have not added any additional water since day 1 since the medium is still moist. — Day 7 (10/17/2020): Growth is steady and they are now about 2” tall. The true leaves are starting to develop and are lime green in color. I have not added any water to the medium as of day 1. I will now open vents to full open on dome. I will eventually remove the dome in a couple days to introduce them to their new growing environment in the 4x2 grow tent where they will start their new adventure.

— Day 8 (10/18/2020): Going into Week 2 of the grow diary for Cinderella 99. I’m really excited about this grow, as this brings back memories of the first time I grew Cinderella 99 when it was introduced. Now that it’s back I can’t wait for the final product! I’m really curious on also how the taste experience between the Organic and Salt Based FloraNova Nute line. I’ve heard organic is better for taste and aroma but I have never really did a side by side comparison from the same genetics. Time will tell and can’t wait to try them both. Anyways Week 2 will be interesting; this is where I will start introducing the seedlings to their new environment, the 4x2 grow tent. By the end of this week, I will be introducing them to their respective nutrient line w/ my mixture of coco and perlite. Today I have added about 20ml of dechlorinated water to each cell, no runoff. I have also set the lamps so that the seedlings get at least 350-400 umol of light. I will steadily increase as they get bigger. All my circulating fans are set to low so they get a gentle breeze so they can develop nice strong stems and keep the air from going stagnant. — Day 12 (10/22/2020): As we near the end of Week 2, the plants are starting slowing its seedling vertical growth spurt and developing more leaf growth. The second set of true leaves are still developing, and growth seems to be green and healthy. I did notice some seedlings first true leaves have a slight curl or fold, but it seems it is not affecting any growth. I’m curious of what causes this? I did added another 20ml of dechlorinated water to each cell, no run off. By the end of this week I’m going to transplant them into larger cells using 50% of my starter blend medium, 40% buffered and rinsed coco, and 10% Worm castings. I’ll post pictures on week 3 of all the ingredients I use as the grow progresses. At Week 3 I will increase the light output to 400-450umol par using my HydroFarm PAR meter and introduce compost tea as well. — Day 13 (10/23/2020): I noticed two days ago my seedlings true leaves started to twist so I ask the growing community of growdiaries.com about my issue and got a fast response from the_canna_scientist responding it is a humidity problem and that I need to put back the dome back on. My grow room is always constantly 50% RH so it made sense, I put the dome back on with a few spritz of water land she started looking good the next day! So stoked to be part of a community that we can always rely on each other for help😊 Anyways I kept everything the same except I’m going to keep the dome on a little longer until I can figure out on how to control my humidity in my grow tent. It’s going to be hard because the air in my grow room is shared between the tents. My other tent has a plant that’s still in flower and I can’t raise the RH due to risk of bud rot. Luckily she has about 3 weeks left. So my other option is once I get them transplanted I will probably have to spritz the tent walls and floor 2-3 times a day to see if that will help any. — Day 14 (10/24/2020): The end of week 2 has come and the these girls are finishing up their second pair of true leaves. On this grow I’ll be using mainlining to train my plants outward in hopes to control upward growth and promote lateral growth. I will most likely mainline upwards to 8 main colas using Nugbuckets mainline method. I’m going off this guide https://www.growweedeasy.com/mainlining-nugbuckets I use this method a lot and seems to provide me good yields and manageable tops. It does require a slightly longer veg time approx 1-2 weeks more than usual but the benefits out way the time in my opinion. You’ll get a very nice short bush with a bunch of main colas. Going on to Week 3 I’ll be transplanting these girls into a 1 liter pot when I start seeing roots popping out the bottoming the current cells.

Hello Growers! I’m just curious of what causes this curling or waving of the leaves. I do notice it only happens during the first set of true leaves and they grow out of it. Is it due to my environment or medium? 50%RH 72F and 350umol PAR. It doesn’t appear to affect growth.

I've think I've pinned this down to humidity, usually goes away when I put the bell back on it. Also, I run my seedlings at 250 umol, might be too many photons based on your DLI ( hours of exposure in relation to u/mol).

— Day 15 (10/25/2020): It’s now the beginning of week 3 and these girls are starting to get bigger day by day. Soon they will out grow their starting pots and will need to be transplanted soon! I decided to start transplanting them into 1 gal fabric pots instead of the 1L pots, as I think they will out grow these fast. So I started hydrating and buffering my Canna Coco. I know it is probably unnecessary since Canna Coco did this already but I also wanted to filter out all the coco fines, which canna coco bricks have at least 10-15% of its weight in it, I will also buffer by soaking my coco in a solution on GH CalMagic at a ration of 10ml per gal of water coco mix. So here are the steps I used to wash and buffer my coco. Step 1: Fully hydrate your coco. Step 2: Start straining your coco using a medium to fine mesh food strainer. Flush the coco with dechlorinated tap water. Keep flushing until majority of the fines are out. Step 3: Put washed coco in a 5 gallon bucket and fill it until it becomes a nice slurry that can be easily stirred. Add the corresponding amount of CalMagic depending on how full your bucket is (10ml/gal). Let soak for 24hrs Step 4: Strain and rinse your coco once more to clear out solution. Put washed and buffered coco in fabric bags to drain excess water. Your coco is now ready for use! You’ll be amazed on how much fine coco dust is in your bricks. Buffering also prevents Calcium and Magnesium lockouts which is notorious when using coco as a medium. I’m still waiting for my coco to be be buffered so I will update the photos as time goes by! — Day 16 (10/26/2020): Today I water each cell about 20ml of dechlorinated water. I still have the all plants in the dome as a way to control my humidity. So far growth is consistent. Today I strained out my coco from the slurry of dechlorinated tap water and CalMagic. I then rinsed the coco for a second time through a food strainer. I then put the rinsed and buffered coco in a fabric bag to drain to dry it out a bit. Today I will be starting my Compost Tea so when I transplant my plants tomorrow they will have a fresh start of Microbial Life to start breaking my pre-amended Medium. Below is my tea recipe I used: Compost Tea — 1/4 cup ea of Boggie tea — 2 tbsp of boogie Brix — 2 tbsp of Insect Frass — 2 tbsp of Kelp Meal — 2 tbsp of Alfalfa Meal — 2 tbsp of Neem Seed Meal — 1/4 cup of Compost — 1/4 cup of Worm Castings Brew in a burlap sack for 24hrs with Air stones to oxygenate and mix the solution. By tomorrow my tea should be done and I’ll use it on my Veg Soil Medium Mix which consists: Organic Coco medium: + 5 parts Coco + 1 part Dr Earths Compost + 1 part Worm Gold Plus Worm Castings + 3 part Perlite + Pre-Amended with 1.333 Tbsp of each Dr Earths All-Purpose, Starter, and Tomato and Vegetable Organic fertilizers. Per gallon of medium. + Other Amendments used was 2 tbsp of each Dolomites Lime, Oyster shells, Neem Seed Meal, Insect Frass 2-2-2, Kelp Meal, Alfalfa meal. 2 Tbsp of Azomite from Down to earth. Per gallon of medium. + Medium will be inoculated with the Compost Tea every week or two. — Day 17 (10/27/2020): It was a very eventful and busy day today as I started mixing up a small batch of Veg Medium Mix with my amendments. I love organic growing cause of all the colors, smells, and feel of the materials used to make these plants thrive. It’s only Natural! It definitely beats making a boring batch of Nutes every couple days. Anyways I posted as much photos I can of all the amendments used. After I made my batch of all organic amended medium I put the medium in 1 gallon fabric pots. I then transplanted all the baby girls in the medium and probably buried an inch of stem into the medium. I also generously applied some of my finish 24hrs brewed compost tea diluted to 1:2 using dechlorinated tap water til runoff. The medium mix drains very well and should not have a problem with overwatering. I kept the ppfd around 350-400umol as they get situated with there new homes. I’m going to continuously spritz water on the tent and the plants to keep the humidity higher. I can’t wait to see how these organic girls compare with their salt based nute sisters on my other diary. Only time will tell!

— Day 22 (10/30/2020): As expected the plants are experiencing transplant shock, and some light stress as I accidentally left the lights at full brightness when I was watering the plants. So I dimmed the light back down to the usual. So most likely won’t see any potential growth until late this week. They should be ready for their first topping hopefully after they get stabilized in their new pots. I’ll keep updating as time goes by. So far I’ve been continuing watering the plants with dechlorinated tap water. — Day 24 (11/01/2020): So far these girls are recovered and seems to be new growth emerging. I do notice that compared to my synthetic C99 grow, she is recovering slower than their sisters. I did increase the light par to about 400-450. I continued to water as normal. Once she has at least 5 or more nodes, I’ll be topping her at the 3rd node and removing all other growth below it. This will be the start of the mainlining training.

— Day 32 (11/09/2020): It’s the start of the 5th week and we will now start Mainlining these girls for some extra Colas! I plan to mainline all these girls with at least 8 main colas. I will cut these girls down to their third node and remove all growth below. It will look scary at first and they will have to recover a few days but as we do the next 2 toppings she will recover a lot faster in the future. These next few weeks will be mostly training these girls to be proper ladies. So far I’ve been watering/feeding every 2 days. As a comparison these girls are growing slower than their synthetic C99 sisters. They also seem to recover at a slower rate as well. So training these girls might take longer compared to the C99 FloraNova grow. — Day 34 (11/11/2020): So far these girls are responding pretty well with the 1st topping and growing pretty steady. I don’t see any stress and they seem to like the environmental conditions. I will continue to use LST to manipulate the branches out more as they grow. I’m trying really careful not to snap the branch. Nothing has changed as for as waterings and environment goes. Once they get about 4-5 nodes on the branches, I will top once again on the third node, which will give me 4 main branches, til then we gots some waiting to do!

Day 36 (11/13/2020): Going on to Week 6 and she is picking up speed! I will be trans planting her very soon into bigger pots. I will most likely transfer these girls into 3 gal fabric pots. I like to slowly ramp up to larger pots. This is done because I’m trying to balance the waterings in between. I don’t want large pots as this creates longer water intervals which means less oxygen exchange and can’t get fresh water in without drowning them. And don’t want to small where you are just wasting time watering everyday. I like it when my plants get watered every 3 days. So it’s beneficial for my time and these girls health. So far these organic girls are growing nice and strong. In comparison to the salty based sisters, these girls are really taking their time. I don’t see any deficiencies or problems. I do see occasional mushrooms pop up in the soil but that’s it. This grow has the least amount of work. All I do is just add about 2-4 cups of non ph dechlorinated RO water. My soil is buffered so I really don’t need to ph the soil. I do inoculate the soil once a week with either a compost tea or Dr Earths Metabolic Transformer. I like to alternate this.

— Day 44 (11/21/2020): Its day 44 and these Organic girls are growing strong. They are noticeably growing slower than the Salt based Nute grow but seem to be growing ate the same rate but the plant mass is about 20-30% smaller. They do seem to require more light than the salt based grow. I can crank up the lights on this plant without these girls stressing to much. I also transplanted these girls to larger 3 gal fabric pots to give there roots some space to stretch out. She seems to be responding to the 2nd topping and transplant very well. She is not showing any signs of slowing down or deficiencies. I raised up the temp in the grow room to 78 and raise the humidity to about 60% RH.

— Day 49 (11/26/2020): So far growth has been steady, She appears to be ready for her final 3rd topping. I did a 3rd topping at the 3rd node of that branch. I have been doing the third node of each branch in hopes she will spread out a little more providing some space between each cola. Im going to incorporate a scrog net to help spread out the canopy. Once these new branches get at least 4-6 nodes in growth. I’ll transplant these girls in a bigger 5 gallon pot. Surprisingly these girls appears to be about a week behind the Salt based grow in terms of internode growth. As far as plant mass the salt based nutes win. — Day 53 (11/30/2020): So far growth has been great! All 8 colas are starting to making its way through the canopy. I have kept everything the same in terms of amendments and kept all environmental factors the same. Might be flipping these girls pretty soon! Surprisingly these girls are keeping up with the Salt based grow. Their stems are not as thick but the node count is about the same.

Day 60 (12/07/2020): So its been great growth and these girls look ready to switch. I did their last defoliation before the switch. One of the plants did suffer from calcium deficiency, most likely from the coco, during the last transplant. I think it could of been because I kind of made the coco blend at the time of transplant and didn't let the coco rest for at least two weeks or more for the microbes to do their job. Anyways, I will let these girls recover first from the defoliation and see if they are stress free before i make the switch.

— Day 1 (12/10/2020): Its Day 1 of flower and all I have been doing is just adding water. After about 3 weeks I will do another defoliation and trim some lower branches that are not getting enough light. So far they have nice even canopies and look healthy. Compared to the salt base grow they have smaller leaves and stems, overall pretty close as in term of height and nodes. — Day 4 (12/13/2020): Its Day 4 of flower and these girls are picking up the growth. I have set the lights to give them around 750 umol of light and they seem to like it. I’m digging the ViparSpectra Led, These have been my first set of led and they been great. Seems like my plants grow a little more bushier and compact but not sacrificing any yields. They also run way cooler than my HID. Anyways can’t wait til I see some pistil action with these Cindies! — Day 7 (12/16/2020): So it’s been a week of flower and she is feeling the stretch! At this time I have maxed out all lights, with a total of 450w of LED. This strain definitely adopts the sativa side of growing with her thin leaves and spread out canopy.

— Day 12 (12/21/2020): So Day 12 has show some great growth! These girls are loving life and stretching towards the light! The lateral branching of each branch is almost even, but I will be defoliating and removing the nodes not getting enough light on the third week. All the lights are maxed out in this grow tent and keeping the lights around 12” from top of canopy. I have about 450w of true LED power. I’m hoping to get at least 1g/watt but we will see as it all depends on several factors like genetics and human inputs. This organic grow has been pretty smooth, I did had some deficiencies during veg, mostly from transplanting. I believe it the nature of coco as it was showing magnesium deficiencies. I believe I most of did something wrong when I buffered my coco; I will definitely try to change how I do that process on my next grow. Even with those stresses she manage to grew out of it. I also believe I didn’t had the dry amendments cook for 4weeks prior to using so I will also incorporate that on my next organic grow. Anyways can’t wait til 3rd week! It does appear that the organic grow started to bud sooner than the FloraNova grow which I found interesting.

— Day 16 (12/25/2020): Happy Holidays! So it is Day 16 of flower and these girls appears that it’s nearing the end of stretch. There are ton of bud sites and can’t wait till they start filling up. A couple of days ago I did gave them their last defoliation and did some supercropping to get the canopies some what even. I will definitely invest on a taller tent because these Cindies do stretch but not as much as other sativa dominant strains. The mainline in combo with LST and HST does keep these girls at a manageable indoor height. — Day 21 (12/30/2020): It’s the end of week 3 flower for these Cindies! I just did a massive defoliation of these girls to really bring out the buds and to improve air circulation. I’m really loving these genetics so far and BrothersGrimm has these girls dialed in right. I have grown many variants of Cindies from different breeders but none comes close to the original. So far nothing really change as far as feeding and training. I have been supercropping the taller colas to try to level out the canopy other than that nothing new. It does seem she has finished the stretch and now is focusing on bud development.

— Day 29 (01/07/2021): It’s the end of week 4 and these girls are starting to fatten up. It looks like training paid of to keep these Cindies nice a short. The tent is starting to smell like a citrus peel! Definitely a unique smell. There are buds everywhere, can’t wait to see them fatten up over time. These girls are really concentrating on mostly bud development. She does have noticeably less growth but definitely less maintenance and defoliating. It does seem the buds are maturing faster than the FloraNova grow.

— Day 33 (01/11/2021): Week 5 of flower and seems the buds are getting bigger by the day! I haven’t changed anything as far as environment and feeding goes. So far loving my setup and I also finding new ways to make my grow efficient in terms of watering and feeding goes. I also have plans of updating my grow tent to Gorilla tent since the tents I have now are not the best for my needs. 2021 is going to be a new turnover for me as a grower.

— Day 42 (01/20/2021): Week 6 and looking good! Nothing really special as far as maintenance. Just trying to keep the branches up from the heavy buds. I really need to start using trellises, but always seem to lazy out of that one, now it’s haunting me. Just keeping these girls watered is a chore. I definitely need to make some simple automated watering system next time around.

Week 7-8: So nothing really not mentioning just the buds getting bigger and the trichomes developing. At the start of week 8 I’ll start flushing these girls with RO water for about a week and start harvesting at end of week 8.

It’s on week 9 and I have already started flushing a week ago. I will be giving these girls 2 days of darkness before harvest and will be starting pre trimming and hanging these buds to be dried for about 7-10 days at a humidity at around 55%. These buds look really plump and full of trichomes! Can’t wait til these babies are dried and cured! The organic girls are definitely has more bud to leaf ratio. Appearance wise the organic looks too shelf compared to the synthetic grow. The yields are definitely smaller but look and smell great!

Sorry for the long delay, had to catch up on things. Anyways just finished the grow with Cinderella 99 and I’m pretty happy with the results. The smell is amazing and considerate it moderate in the smell strength. The buds are nice medium sized dense colas. I have been currently curing the buds in mason jars at 62% RH. Most of these buds will be turned into Rosin, while some for joints and bowls. I’ll report in a little while with a smoke report. So far the organic grow yields the smallest but a lot less leafy buds. Nice frosty nugs and just beautiful cosmetically. Can’t wait til try it out!
