First time grow!
I know the lights are not strong enough for a proper grow, but this is my first time and will buy another light for my next grow. Considering this to be a test run for many more future grows!
So far, so good! Didn't water until day 7, which was really hard because I kept wanting to water them!
Used the old tried and true method to confirm they were ready for a soaking...stuck my finger an 1.5" into the soil and it was dry, so they got a good drink.
May have waited a bit too long: the GG#4 on the right leaned a bit away when watering because the soil was loose. Overnight, she straightened out nicely.
Definitely needing more frequent watering now.
On day 14, I noticed a faint smell from them...smells good! Glad I got a pre-filter on my exhaust fan because there's a lot of time left until they are harvested.
Started LST on the Auto Purple Kush (left-side) after the photos were taken. Might look into using the Advanced Nutrients I have (Micro, Grow, and Bloom). Don't want to burn them though because my soil is hot and my water is too, I think. Still waiting for my PH tester to arrive. Been adding a few drops of lemon juice to each gallon of water I use, in the hopes it lowers the PH (I have softening salts added to my purified tap water so I assume it's on the soft side).
Forgot to do an update! Day 23 now, started LST a few days ago...a crude version of LST, that is.
I think the plants might be about to start the flowering stage now. The smell is strong when opening the tent door, but luckily the carbon filter and pre-filter are doing their job! Can't smell anything outside the tent.
The GG #4 (right side of picture) grew so rapidly over a few days that I think it for a bit of heat/light stress on the top leaves. Moved the light further away to be safe.
Guess it's time to start using my nutrients soon. Will look into an appropriate schedule. Thinking of starting them at 1/4 the recommended dose and only biweekly. At any rate, they're consuming water much faster now, for sure!
Day 29! Smell is very strong...having a hard time keeping the smell down, despite using a charcoal filter and prefilter. Going to try duct taping every possible opening, except one used for fresh air intake.
Stretching like crazy this week! My light isn't powerful enough so not surprised.
Added some worm castings this week as well. Probably should have done that from the beginning but better late than never!
Quite a few small buds growing. Don't think the yield will be too high, but it's my first grow so no big deal. Next grow will be even better :)
Might end up with popcorn buds but that's okay, considering the underpowered light (100 W) and it being my first grow.
I've ordered two 240 W Kingbrite lights, which I'm excited to get! If I were to use them at full strength (which I won't) it would be a 500% increase in watts. Crazy.
Some of the buds are looking frosty...almost like they've been sprinkled with powdered sugar. Gotta get some more air movement or it will end up being the bad kind of powdered sugar. The kind you don't want to smoke :(
Nice! I have a similar setup and am growing Gelato and Coco Melon from Canuk. I’m using a ts1000 and viparspectra p1500 in a 2x4x5 tent, and I had to keep my lights down to around 25% pretty much the first 4-5 weeks of veg. Both plants had light burn/stress but now I’m in first week of veg and they’re at around 75%. Check out my diary and you can see what my stress looked like in weeks 2/3
@guysmiley92,
The ts1000 seems solid. I’d say I’m getting about 3-4 degrees as well. I’m in eastern canada and it’s about 16degrees at night in the tent, about 23 during the day with both lights running 12/12. Even in the summer with both lights running for 24/0 the max temp was 29 for a few hours.
@Jbreezy,
How do you like the ts1000? I'm hoping to get one as well but still deciding between that or a similar Spider Farmer. Does your ts1000 give off a lot of heat? My ts600 gives off 4 degrees Celsius, which is not bad.
