Biobizz light mix soil + shot glass of water per seed. Lights 24/0 from the beginning. Letting the substrate dry out completely before watering again as I have over watered in the past.
1 plant is a couple of days behind the rest, has been since the beginning. Trying to help it catch up by moving it closer to the CFL for more light intensity. I began LST at the end of week 2.
I added in the flowering light towards the end of this week as the plants have got significantly bigger. Smell has increased too, it's a sour kinda funk. I guess the chemdawg genetics coming through.
Started nutrients this week ready for the pre-flower stretch. Just using Tomorite tomato food at 1/4 strength and weening it up - feeding every other watering. LST in full effect this week and the plants are responding well with explosive growth!
I have upped the feed now to about 1/2 strength and the plants are loving it. They're starting to recover from the low stress training last week and stretching upwards. Budding is underway with white hairs, and a distinctive gassy smell on 3/4 of the plants.
I'm guessing I've got two phenos - 3x Chemdawg dominant and 1x Hindu Kush dominant. We'll find out when they start to flower fully.
Switched to 18/6 from 24/0 on day 36 - now that they're flowering they seem more sensitive to heat from the lights (Also backed the light off a couple inches). This resulted in an immediate growth spurt!
I must say I'm impressed with both these autos and myself. For my first proper indoor grow its going much better than I could have hoped. Especially considering I'm using tomato feed and CFL lighting 😅
Since recovering from LST last week the plants have been getting to the flower stretch. Usually I'd call this the pre-flower stretch but they seem to be doing both at once! 🌱
This is meant to be a 10-11 week strain and if it keeps on stacking for another 5 weeks they're going to be monsters. Fingers crossed! 👹
They're simultaneously stretching and budding 🤷♂️🏻 unsure if genetics, or the fact I'm using CFL lighting. We'll see how the next week goes!
Update: Had some PH issues this week with runoff at 5.6-5.8. I've fixed it with a good flush of diluted nutes at 6.2 PH. Had to buy PH and PPM pens but worth the investment. Also changed nutes to Biobizz bloom.
PH back on track and the buds are starting to stack. The few shoots that were stretching are under control with LST. I also defoliated a few leaves blocking bud sites.
Just waiting for the pots to dry out from the flush and they'll be getting a good strong feed.
2 out of 4 plants are stacking heavily now. Recovering better than I had hoped from the PH issues.
The other 2 I expect to take a couple of weeks longer but that's no problem, staggered harvest is easier :)
Day 66: Smell is very strong now, especially after watering or lights out.
Last week or two for 2 of the plants. The seedbank said 75 days and I think that'll be about right for one of the phenotypes.
I got some burned tips on one plant but I'm not worried as they'll be finished soon. Not quite sure how the one got burnt as PPM and PH have both been in range and the same watering / feeding has been applied to all 4 🤷♂️🏻
Old school night time smoke. Creeps on slowly with a heavy body stone.
Smells like brandy once cured with a sweet nutty / woody flavour.
Strain would be well suited to SOG due to small size, this is something I may try in the future.
Update: made some bubble hash from popcorn buds, got about 20% return. It's incredibly potent and has much more flavour than just the flower (really brings out the piney terps).
Went 1 week longer than the time on the packaging, possibly because of PH issues mid grow. One kola on one plant had a small amount of bud rot so it was decided to crop a week or so earlier than I had planned.
I am very impressed with the quality of the buds from this cultivar, considering it is an autoflower it has great flavour and potency with a long lasting high.
If I grew it again I would probably go for a SOG technique with more plants as they don't take up much space (especially with LST).
Bud structure leaves something to be desired - looks like weed from 10 years ago. I'm gonna put this down to the CFL lights and get an LED for flowering my next run.
