started another grow with anothet seed that i got from RQS: Shogun
It took about 3 days for the seed to germinate and come out of the jiffy cube that was on top of an electronic appliance (for some warmth)..
i count the first signs of life (a tiny spec breaching the surface of the cube), as day 1 already..
at the moment she’s still in the cup, and she will stay in a cup for a while.
I will fill it up with Plagron and perlite though in the next few days.
Day 3 in the evening: I decided to move her into a different cup with some (non-prefertilized) Plagron and Perlite..
day 8 marks the beginning of her second week.. so far everything seems to be going great..
i have seen some of the roots come out of the bottom of the cup, but i will leave her inside for a bit longer, so a better root-system can establish
day 11: i started giving her a light amount of nutrients (seedling-strength) and also transplanted her into a fabric pot
day 15: she seems to be recovering from having been transplanted.. she started getting a bit lighter, thanks to the heavy watering of the new medium when transplanting, however that was still without nutrients, so i know that’s what she needs from now on moving forward
day 22: last evening i topped and main-lined her.. she looks a bit sad like this at the moment, but she will be happy again soon..
in the long run she will be repotted again, and then put into a different tent by herself
day 27: transferred her into an 11l air-pot
day 28: today i topped her for the second time and have removed the set of fan-leaves from the first branching..
it’s always a bit scary at first, but once recovered you see that it’s a good thing to do
it’s day 36 and she’s doing well.. she recovered from the last topping quite good, so i will perform the next topping later today..
this will bring the main nodes up to 8
day 37: topped her yesterday again and also removed some of the old fan-leaves, so now she has 8 leaves and will grow 8 colas..
day 43 means it’s the beginning of a new week.. she’s behaving great, and is well spread out.. i keep her at 8 colas, so there will be no further topping..
Now she will get a bit of time to grow those 8 main branches, and then she’s ready for flowering..
day 50 and she’s looking great.. the main lining and the lst has been working out great, and she’s now in the last stage of her growth cycle, which is to let the 8 individual main-branches grow a bit longer before she’ll be put into bloom
day 56: i did some defoliation and removed the growth coming out of the lowest node (both sides) on each of the 8 tops
day 57: the mainlining looks great.. yesterday i removed the lowest two branches of each of the eight main branches to keep the focus onto the main branch growth
day 64: she’s almost ready to be moved to the flowering tent.
To me the mainlining looks great and i am definitely looking forward to how she behaves once she’s switched to 12/12
day 66: I water the plant every two days at the moment, and wanted to show how she looks like before the watering.. beginner would be scared and may then start overwatering (which is much worse than underwatering), so i wanted to show what 0,5l of water and about 30 to 45 minutes of time can change in a plants appearance.. I am thinking of switching to daily watering very soon, but the overall amount of water should not be increased at first.. only slowly with time.
day 68: i decided to move her into the flowering tent today, so she will also be put to 12/12. I will also switch watering from 0.5l every two days to 0.3l every day now.
At first still of course with grow nutrients, as she will have her growth spurt in which she requires lots of N, and only once that’s over will I switch to the bloom nutrients.
day 71: she was moved to the flowering tent and therefore under 12/12 a few days ago. Obviously there are no signs of flowering yet, but i will already mark this week as the first one of flowering.
I also removed the lowest growth again today, which may have been the last defoliation (with exception of some leaves) moving forward.
day 73: started adding AN additives to the watering..
day 78: the start of the second week of flowering.. at this point she’s still stretching and growing, so there’s not too much to see about the flowering process itself
day 85 and you can already see the first pistils and flowers forming.. I’m not sure yet if i will still remove the lowest set of branches and leaves, or if i will just leave them like they are now.
day 95: a new week started and since the last update it’s much better to see that the plant is flowering now..
all tops are growing quite evenly thanks to the main-lining and now each of the tops have some small flowers.. am looking forward to seeing how this develops over the next weeks
also i switched over to a bloom mix with the nutrients.. AN additives will come later this week again as well
day 99 and another week starts. she’s looking amazing and a few days ago i started to give some AN additives again.. currently she’s getting 0.5l of solution a day and given that i always make batches of 2 liter, i make one batch with AN additives and one without (so then only GHE nutrients).
one batch lasts for 4 days, then it’ll switch.. sometimes i add a day of plain RO water without nutrients in between as well to avoid too much nutrient-buildup in the medium
day 106 and she’s looking better and better every day now.. there are nice trichomes formed on each of the tops and when you touch them, the fingers get quite sticky already..
currently she’s getting 0.5l nutrient solution each day, ehich seems to be perfect
day 109: forgot to water her yesterday, so the leaves are a bit droopy, but she should be fine in a little while again..
day 113 and yet another new week started.. she’s looking beautiful and there are more and more trichomes appearing..
when touching the plant (i did some defoliation a few days ago to ensure the lower areas get good light and for better air circulation) she gets really smelly and the fingers very sticky..
day 120 and she’s looking better and better.. the first pistils are starting to turn brown and the amount of trichomes just looks gorgeous..
She’s still getting 0.5l each day, which seems about right.. some of the time of the leaves are turning brighter, but given that she’s rather late in her lifecycle now it doesn’t make sense to me to up the nutrients at this point..
it won’t take long and she’ll be ready for harvest
day 127 and we’re starting a new week again..
the first trichomes have started to turn amber, so it won’t take too long anymore until she’s ready to be harvested..
this will be the last week for her before she’ll be harvested, so i stopped with all typed of nutrients..
I am really happy with the way she has responded to all the types of training and the main lining..
The grow was super easy. She responded perfectly to the topping, main-lining and LST.
Now she hangs upside down in the grow tent for the next week to dry and I am really looking forward to tasting her once cured. During the harvest she released a very high amount of smell and she’s very sticky.
