Here we go! Lots of firsts in the grow. First attempt in coco. First attempt indoors. First attempt at photoperiods. Can't wait! I am using guidance from Dr. Coco and his website. I truly feel that I have learned so much about coco and have not even ripped open the bag of substrate. Should be fun and hopefully, 'fruitful.'
3 of 3 Jack Herer Feminized have popped and grown ample tails. After 41 hours, they now sit in Rapid Rooters becoming seedlings. No sign of the Power Plant seeds springing to life yet. Will check again in 12 hours.
60+ hours in. Jack Herer seeds have popped up and are still sporting their helmets. No sign of life from the Power Plant seeds. They are still sitting in the dark, warm and cozy within a Tupperware.
The week was both fruitful and fruitless. The 'free' seeds from MSNL were duds. All three of them failed to do anything. The other 'free' seeds from MSNL, however, did pop and are growing well. I have used my week to get my EC and pH management in check. I have been building up the EC (starting at 400) and building up about 75 points with each feeding. Week one had only single feedings per day. I'll double feedings in week 2.
I have also spent a good deal of time working on my environmentals. As expected, it has been cool in the grow tent (65F - 69F). Clearly, warmth will become important to offer the ladies the appropriate environment.
I really would call this seedling week. Nonetheless, week two is off to the races. Spent time organizing both my tent and work area. I am happy with how things have turned out. And, let me be clear, going with a 5x5 v 4x4 was an excellent choice. I like having a bit of room to move around.
To offset the coolness of the basement, I grabbed a heater from Menards. I must say, it is exceeding my expectation. I have it in the lung room and the warm air is being pulled into the tent through the screened intake. I continue to push the nutrients up by 75 uS/cm per feeding. This morning, my target was 800 uS/cm. I continue to increase by 75 for each feeding (now twice per day).
Week 2 came and went. Growth was quick and relatively even. One of the three fell a bit behind. I moved on from the MSNL Power Plant and put a few new beans into place. I went with Irie Genetics The Cream. I have been listening to Irie Jeff and learning a ton. It only seems appropriate to try his seeds. Thanks to Seeds Here Now for quick shipment so I can get them caught up to my Jack Herer. That said, I am dragging my heels a bit to up-pot the Jack. Next week.
