On day 66 of 70 to 80 day (average) strain harvest recommendation. Flushing for 6 days now. Leaves are turning yellow and dying off. Buds have gotten bigger over last 2 weeks, but still smaller than I expected. Overall no real problems.
Looks like you'll be good to harvest by day 80, but most growers go a week or two beyond manufacturers recommendation, because they tend to be inaccurate. Although you look fine to harvest on day 75-80 somewhere, I dont trust recommendations so I would buy a jeweler's loupe and go based off the trichomes. 20-30% amber trichomes seems to be the sweet spot for most growers.
Day 74 or 75. Harvested short plant on day 60. Got mostly premature fluffy little nugs. Leaves are all dying off, but remaining 2 plants are still drinking nearly half the water of flowering. Pistols are turning more brown and curling, but white hairs are still coming in straight up and trikes are mostly cloudy with some clear still and no amber I can see yet.
Best way to know is with 30-60x magnification. You look at trichomes on the calyxes. Google for 1000+1 opinions on exactly when. 25%-75% amber etc etc... Amber is a sign degradation of the psychoactive delta-9-THC. Foggy is what you want, but some portion will likely be amber to avoid large swaths of clear.
currency checkers, usb microscopes etc etc... most phone cameras aren't quite good enough. as little as $5-7 and up from there.
