Not much to see this week. This is my second grow but my first I'll be tracking with grow diaries. Day -5: Literally just popped a King Kush CBD auto seed into some wet paper towel. Popped it into a container and placed in a dark warm cupboard. Day -3: Germination had taken place. leaving for another 24 hours before transplant. Day -2: Nice big tap root now, transplanted to it's final resting place in a 7.5L fabric pot filled with Canna Terra soil and watered with a little water (I like to transfer to final resting place as to not place undue stress on the plant by transplanting multiple times). Day -1: I could see the seeding trying to push through the soil with it hat on but just left it to do its thing. No additional water given today Day 0: The tiniest little seedling! I'm calling this day zero and have counted back to give a timeline. I did help it's little hat off with some tweezers but 5 days from seed to seeding and I'm chuffed. I will start the first vegetation week on day 1. I also gave her a tiny water just around the base as the top soil had dried out. On to vegging!

Into veg this week and every day thus far I'm only watering about 20mL (No nutes yet). I also have the seeding under a CFL (20cm distance) as I'm giving my other grow a few more days before I chop her down and free up the grow room. 3.5cm tall on day 2. Each day I continued to water with just water between 20-50ml as required. She finished up the week at 5cm tall and was moved under my LED now that the grow fridge has been freed up. plant is sitting about 60cm under the blue light. Roll on week 2.

Moved the new girl into the grow fridge on day 9 after harvesting the previous resident. I've started nutes this week but at this point its still only small amounts of watering averaging 100-250ml depending on soil moisture levels.

Beginning of week 3 and I'm planning to LST and Top, I'll be sure to document as I go. After receiving advice from a fellow grower I decided to top and see how well she recovers before taking any next steps. Being that she is in week 3 and this strain typically flowers and wraps up pretty quickly I wanted to give her as much time to recover as possible. She has a solid 3 nodes with a 4th coming in just below where I topped. I'm really interested to see how she recovers from here and where the 2 main colas will stem from. She looks pretty healthy so I hope she takes it well.

Howdy fellow growers, quick question for you all, I'm going to try my hand at LST and topping on this my second grow after just letting my first grow just do its thing. Any advice for the new guy? When should I Top and start with the LST? Many thanks in advance!

I suggest you separate the techniques and apply separately. You can over stress cannabis and it leads to outcomes you want to avoid. Try topping first (once). Wait 7 days before you take any additional options. At that point it should initiate new growth. Can be explosive growth depending on the strain (some like being topped, some don’t). If you need to train your plant because it’s growing so vigorously thats a good sign. At that time try applying some training techniques to manipulate the canopy for the space you’ll be flowering in. Hope this helps. Good luck

Interesting week this one, after topping last week the rate of growth noticeably slowed, however, she has recovered well. The very small 4th nodes are where the two main colas have stemmed from. I can't help but wonder if she may haver recovered faster if I had topped a few days later and given the 4th node a few extra days to grow in. Maybe an experiment for the next grow? On day 25, 8 days after topping she was growing well again so I decided to introduce some LST to even out the main bud sites. She has again handled it well and if anything is growing stronger/faster now with the increased light exposure. I have been watering roughly 1L a day depending on how dry the soil is. if its still damp I do tend to let it go for an extra day here and there so she doesn't get over watered. I'm slightly concerned as at this point, 4 weeks in I'm not yet seeing any signs of flowering. I would have expected being an auto that flowering would have started sooner. Is this down to topping and LST? Who knows, my only hope is that it won't effect the flowering duration when it arrives and thus yields. Over to week 5

Week 5! Hello pistals and welcome flowering! Day 29 saw some very fine white pistals start to appear which I'm happy to say couldn't come soon enough! Now that I'm into flowering I have switched on both Grow and Flower lights and at the end of this week I'll switch over to just flower through to harvest. I suspect she is starting to stretch a little having reaching 30cm on day 30! It will be interesting to see how much stretching she does. I'm also planning to remove some of the lower stem/lower budding sites later in the week to concentrate my bud sites having suffered some pop-corning on my previous grow by just letting it do its own thing. Day 32 - 5 more days and she has grown an additional 10cm to finish off the week at 40cm, she is definitely stretching. I'm really happy with the structure of the plant and the exposed bud sites that get direct light as a result of Topping & LST. She has a very weak smell that is kind of sweet if you get your nose right in there. This week finished the last of the "grow" nutes as they were already mixed up, next week she will move over to "bloom" nutes. I also removed any budding sites below the height of the top bud on the lowest branch, basically anything below 20cm on the plant as they won't develop as well as they are shaded by the plant above. The plant can then focus on using its energy to develop bigger buds where they are receiving direct light. Super excited to see how this one finishes up!

Stretched has she what! She has been going gang busters this week reaching at least 70-80 cm! I basically let her do her own thing this week with regular watering until day 42. Day 42 - Because of the explosive growth I elected to employ some additional LST, Main-Lining and Defoliation in an attempt to even out the canopy. I'm hoping that this will keep the bud sites in the right light zone and with the even canopy I will end up with multiple good size buds (only time will tell). I hope that the additional stress that I have placed on her doesn't have a negative effect. My last grow had the main cola grow up into the light and it suffered from light-burn. As a result it never fully developed and finished the grow so am trying to avoid that. Wish me luck with this one!

Sorry all, no photos this week but all is continuing nicely. Added some Canna PK 13/14 to give a boost the new buds. The height has remained unchanged now, probably would have finished off at about 80-90cm had I just let her grow but using LST I have kept her at 65cm high and about 40cm away from the light. Hopefully she won't suffer from being that close and the LST hasn't over stressed her. Weak yet sweet smell now whenever I open the fridge. Smells Goooooood

Progressing nicely this week, bud sites are well and truly set now and its all about packing on the weight! This is the exciting part! Going to keep here on Canna PK again this week then drop back down to just the Flairform Bloom. Definitely taking 1L of water each day now and I suspect that she has about 4-5 weeks to go and I will flush in the final 2 weeks.

Here we go week 9 and things are starting to look a little frosty. At this point its just more water/nutes and time. As mentioned last week I'm dropping out the Canna PK and just continuing with the Flairform Bloom for the next few weeks before I move to flush. Buds are slowly beefing up, really looking forward to finishing this one up and starting the next grow!

Beginning of week 10 and the buds are slowly but noticeably getting bigger! Im really happy with how she is finishing up, lots of trichomes and plenty of fattening bud sites. She looks strong and healthy. I still have at a guess, 2-3 weeks to go. No milky trichomes just yet and I'd like to see the buds get a lot fatter. I'm going to continue with nutes this week (week 6 of flower) and flush for the remaining 7 - 10 - 14 days, however long it takes for the buds to ripen up. I've asked a question of my fellow growers as I'd like to remove some fan leaves to clean her up and am awaiting a response or two before proceeding. I'll try to take some more regular photos as this girl runs for the finish. So taking advice from my fellow growers I did decide to clean up a few fan leaves but only minimally. This was done to open up some bud sites that weren't getting full access to light. Rightly or wrongly it hasn't seemed to impact the grow at all. I would have do complete a side by side comparison to really tell. I am such a noob! Roll on next week!

To trim or not to trim, that is the question! As I enter week 10 of my grow the canopy has be come a little crowded with some fan leaves and depriving some bud sights on much needed light. Is it ok at this late stage to clean up the canopy and remove these fan leaves? Cheers!

I would advise not to remove any healthy green leaves at all. They are the only source of energy production that makes your plant grow. For a more detailed explanation of why I recommend not removing any healthy green leaves and only removing yellow leaves, please read the answer I gave to "Basement grow 05"/ "Early flower", a few questions beneath yours on this very page, to a very similar question that he/she asked about this exact same topic. Hope this helps,.... Organoman.

So this week continues much like the last. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas! Given that this girl spent a little bit longer that expected in veg and looking at where she is now I'd say that she still has another 2 weeks to go. The pistils have started to brown and curl however the trichomes are still clear and yet to turn. Buds are dense but need more time to ripen. As I think she still has some legs and I had some leftover nutes mixed up I continued her on them this week. When they run out I will flush her and continue on just water until harvest. I heading away next week for 5 days so I'm happy that she is taking her time and she should be ready for harvest not long after I return. So I ended up flushing the day before I went away which was day 76 then left her with plain water (enough to get her through my absence).

I was away for most of this week and despite being worried how she would cope she was fine. In need of a drink but surviving well. The first thing I did was give her a drink and check the trichomes. While there is a nice amount of milky heads I couldn't see any amber ones just yet and there was still quite a few clear ones. I'll be monitoring regularly next week and getting ready to harvest. I'll just be watering with water now as all feeding has stopped.

I think this week might be harvest week!!! Asking for help here please! Should I harvest yet?! So despite being really excited earlier in the week that this might be harvest week it has not been! Having asked the question on my peers and inspecting her everyday for fear she would be ready for the chop an I'd miss the optimum time, she decided to go the other way! Much to my surprise as I continued to check her during the week I noticed that more and more new pistals were appearing. I have no idea why this might be happening but I figure it can't bad for her. The trichomes haven't changed much that I can tell so no need to rush into cutter her down. Yes there are a few amber ones appearing but the majority remain white and milky. Although I don't typically like a body stoned effect I'm growing this girl specifically for night time medication to help with sleep so I figure letting her go a little longer can't hurt. I really do hope she is ready next week, despite the breeders recommendation of 7 weeks in flower it has now been 9 and I need me some medicine!

I'm absolute stoked that I finally made it to harvest! Patients is absolutely key. I'm really happy that I managed to get a yield of 53g off this beauty. I did a partial harvest of 36.47g wet (~9g dry) on day 92 that went immediately into the freezer. I'm experimenting with fresh frozen vs dry cured ethanol extraction and hoping to see if there is any noticeable difference in yield and flavour. This will determine which post processing method I use going forward for all my grows. The remainder of the plant was harvested on day 94, dried for a week and has now been curing for a week. I'll be doing an ethanol extraction of around 9g of this to compare with the fresh frozen sample. The first thing I can say is that as wet bud contains a lot of water, it therefor increases the size (physical) of product you have to process. This means that it requires a larger volume of ethanol cover and complete the extraction. In addition, the equipment required must be larger to accomodate it. Drying/curing takes some additional time but the ethanol required is a lot less. Currently I'm thinking that if there isn't large yield/flavour difference between the two samples that although a dried/cured product takes longer to produce, that because the ethanol required and equipment required would be less and more economical that this would probably be the method I will proceed with.
