This week was spent in the bonsai pot. I put both Sour stomper seeds in the same pot to make a double bonsai plant shape. One of the plants has always seemed smaller than the other even from the seedling stage. Early on there was signs of nutrient burn as the tip of the leaves looked black. It was very minor though. At the time I was trying to use natural light for these plants, but with the nutrient burn I decided to put it under a simple grow light. Lighting conditions are still very minimal unlike a nice proper grow light would give, but hopefully since these plants will remain small, then that will be fine. I have plans in the work to buy a tent and a nicer light in the future, but for now I want to see the limits of this smaller grow light.
After adding the grow light the plants seemed to do better and the leaves grew larger. I held off on watering for 3 days to ensure the nutrient burn could work it's way out. Things seem to be good, but the plants are much smaller than the plan in the grow tent with proper lighting. I have done some beginning training for the stem, but until they grow more, I won't do too much more with the training as I want them to start getting a more solid foundation.
Week 2 will start with increase nutrients.
