Off to a fresh start after my last Critical Killer Fast from Canuck Seeds
This time I going to pop one one the Black Amnesia Haze see what this strain has to bring, I'm crossing my fingers for some nice dark genetics for this plant, I love the look of them but have had little luck in getting my past grows to show very dramatic colors into harvest time, months yet to go so lets see what happens.
Ive started to refresh the soil I had been using by mixing in some Gaia Green dry amendments, (15 tsp. of 4-4-4 + 30 tsp of 2-8-4) into the soil and giving a light water to get the soil ready for a new grow in the next few days.
Here is my little sprout finally poking her leaves out. Took a day longer for her to pop out of the soil then I've had in the past, I may have had it planted a bit deeper then I've done in the past. Thinking back the seeds were tiny little things, I wonder if that might have added if not been the cause? Had me slightly worried as I can only check on the plant after work, kept coming home, looking and hoping to see something positive.Three days in was a relief to see something. There isn't too much more to be said about her for germ week.
Depending on how many nodes shes gets this week I may start looking at some LST spots, eventually moving to some form of Main-Lining in the next 2-3 weeks after. I've dabbled very slightly in the past and had some good results with minimal knowledge beyond reading web postings, if I don't take some risks what is there to learn after all
I'll prob give her a slight top feed once she sets up a better root structure and soaks up some nutrients. .
I have a new phone coming next week, so I can get rid of this outdated piece of crap I've been using, It will hopefully get me some better quality pictures of my plant as she goes. I've been very unsatisfied with the image quality in the last and current week, lets get that sorted and capture the plant in the light that she deserves.
My little plant is looking good for the first full week of veg, shes gotten up to the second tier of 5-node leaves and has gotten some nice spread on the leaves soaking up that light. There is a little bit of roll on the leaves just at the edges which may be from the light being close or low level of nutrients. I've moved up the light and added a 10tsp top feed of Gaia Green - All Purpose, both of which I had been planning on doing this weekend.
I hope my plant will go for more of a stretch this week now that I've given a bit more distance between the light and the plant, right now the nodes are really close in spacing and will prob be a pain in the ass to clip the top when it comes times to clip back. There really isn't enough spread to worry about LST this weekend, might be another week or 2 yet. Everything is set-up waiting for anything that will need to be tied back until then.
This week was a busy week for me and the plant got a little away from me later in the week. Tuesday everything was looking good and healthy, picked up some nice height for a few days, by the time it got to Thursday, she had grown well past the point I wanted to cut back to, already having some smaller growths gaining height off the leaves by the main stem. As of the Saturday I finally was able to give the plants some closer attention, grabbed my snips and ties to get down to some work. I clipped the top two nodes down from the top of the plant, I just couldn't cut back as far as i wanted with the nice growth I was seeing, may regret it later when the plant becomes a lot more work to maintain but lets run with it and regret later. I also tied back any side branches that were long enough and will keep them somewhat low with a gradual rise until the 3rd node if they have the room for it.
I'm going to need to step up my attention to the plant during the evening these next few weeks to keep everything tied down to set the branches where I want them and to give everything that will be sprouting up enough space to breath and grab what light they can. other then that its keeping them nice and watered - keep up the feed if they need it, but shouldn't have to worry about that for a few weeks to a month.
Ive been a little busy this week and missed my weekend update, finally got back to a more manageable pace of life as of Wednesday and found some time to show my little plant some love.
This week everything really started to take off, the pull up to the light has been pulling out all the green ties I had used to steak the plants down, I redid them with a longer section and got everything about where I want it to stay. The secondary nodes have some nice growth sprouting up and growing quick.
I need to start looking at places to clip back a lot of the leaves, they are all starting to get tangled and are blocking light to some of the lowest secondary growths and one of the primary nodes on the back-right of the plant. I also need to add a little bit more of the top feed to make sure levels are good and she keep eating all the good stuff. After all that is taken care of its another 2-4 weeks of veg to get big and strong, I'm planning on a 2 month veg but may cut it short if the height keeps getting out of control as I can only go so high in my closet.
This week after only a few days since my last update the plant has already started to pick up a lot of height at most the growth tips. I've gone ahead and clipped back a bunch of the leaves mostly on the lower side of the plant but also a few higher up that were blocking light or blocking airflow between the growths. Right about now I'm wishing I had the materials ready to build a scrog net to keep everything separated, but thats something to worry about next time unless I can come up with something in short order.
Next week, I'm going to keep watching the leaves so they don't go totally out of control, keep focused on the canopy leaves and less so on anything lower down. Plenty of the tops that are visible right now will be the stuff turning into bud sites and there are looking like a goof 15-20 nice spots so far with a few more hidden on the back end of the closet.
Thanks everyone for the likes, follows and comments. Its good to see some people along with me for this ride as my little girl grows into a nice healthy lady. To the future monster I know she can be =)
Another week goes by and man this plant!, she has been picking up so much height every day. I've been pulling any main growths back to hold off on raising the lights as much as I can, but have had little luck as everything I've done is made moot a day or two later so I make the switch to 12-12 as of today. I've added a top feed of the 2-8-4 Gaia Green and will add another later in the week as I was spotting some yellow leaves low on the plant, may have let the feeding get away from me a little.
Next week, I'll be adding the second feed of Gaia Green with a whole bunch more water, as shes taking a good 3-4 litres of water a day. I'm also going to raise the light up about a foot to give some more light all round as right now the 3 main growths are right up at the light and are stealing it from everything else. Now getting ready for everything to start to set up in their final shape and location, everything will start to harden up on the stem side and will be a big pain to adjust it later.
Another week of fast upward motion on this plant, hitting three feet today and maybe another week of solid stretch still to go. I've still been getting a few of the yellowing leaves on the lower end of the plant and should maybe toss a little 4-4-4 onto that to add a little nitrogen if it doesn't look a little bit better over the next week. Took a few leaves and lower growths down today to focus the growth on the main stalks that are getting the most light, most anything that will never amount to much is now gone.
Next week I'll just be watching the growth, bend down what needs to be addressed so I don't have anything so close to the light I get more burning (had one top get slightly toasty a few weeks back). I also need to baby one stalk that I snapped while giving it a slight bend that I've touched up with some tape and hoping that it still has enough connection to stay fed. not much else to say this week, as everything settles into flower things really start to slow down until the buds pick up by the end.
Short week between updates, trying to get back to a weekend update schedule. Everything is getting nice and tall, another 2 inches onto the height. A lot of the tops are starting to show some nice hairs and are stacking on some bud weight, by next week there should be a nice start to them. I've held off on the 4-4-4 feed as everything is looking alright on the yellow leaves problem, the feedings of the Power Bloom seems to have finally worked its way into the plant and is getting results. I've done a little bit of tying a few of the middle growths back a bit, it'll lower the max height and has given a lot more light and airflow around the middle plant region, get rid of that excess moisture.
Next week its another with little expected to do, but so far this plant has kept me on my toes. She's a lives up to the fast part of her name and every day I look its getting a few inches at least. I'm still deciding on if and when I should trim down a bunch of leaves, I think I should wait until I get some good bud growth on her then start to trim as she fattens up, there is plenty of potential spots I would hate to starve for light if I can, looking forward for some nice tall buds, getting them dense is a problem I look forward to solving.
I'm back with another update after completely dropping the ball on getting back last week, back to work is killing me but everything is starting to go back to the normal grind.
Last week I was dealing with the ever growing plant and had thought I'd run out of space to raise the light. Luckily I found a few ways to get a few inches for the plant (every inch counts) and did a few not favourable step of bending the stems by giving them a light squeeze a a little down and waiting for it to harden up.
This week everything has finally setup, stopped and gone into bud more in true, as such there are a few nice looking spot starting to get fuzzy and fatten up. There was also some handy work done with a drill and thick wire into getting a bit more out of my light, which finally is high enough to give the perimeter tops some light back from the centre ones which have been right up in the light no matter what I had been doing.
Prepping for next week its just keeping the nutrients up and watering as needed, the buds will be a nice show from here until the end, there is almost a daily change and it'll only get faster from here. I also spent some money on a digital microscope to get some nice pictures of the tri's when they start to collect, should prove to be something new to figure out.
Till next week everyone, happy smoking.
This week has been a nice and easy one, got a little behind on the watering but have been keeping it up to level to prevent that again. The show is really starting to begin now, all along the canopy there are buds popping off all over the place. When I went about bending the stems to save some height I was a little bummed but it ended up giving the lower buds on tho'es stems way more light and now they are starting to grow up to the light rather then along the stem, they look like smaller top buds.
Next week I'll just be doing my watching and maintaining the lady. I may need to add some supports as the buds start to fatten up as I've messed up some structure on the stems I bent, I can see it being a problem if they start to take on a lot of weight.
I had a week off work this week, which gave me time to work on the plants, I still need to go under and cut any of the smaller leaves that gave been wilting way low where there is little light reaching. The top buds are really picking up there is a nice change on the daily when I go in to check on her. I'm also starting to catch a nice smell when I pass by the closet. Everything is looking really good for the last two or so weeks of growth. Even if there isn't much to do besides keeping up the water, this is my favourite time of any grow, everything you did for the last 3 months all gets paid back and watching it ripen daily just puts a huge smile on my face!
Next week I'm just going to be pushing leaves back, tucking rather then clipping until the last few days before harvest, I also should be keeping up the water and moving around any buds so they get nice air flow so we can reduce moisture and avoid any potential spots for mould to take hold. I should also be updating with pictures during the week a bit more, I have some time off work and there will hopefully be more to show, everything will be getting fat and sticky. I'll also need to get out the microscope out and start looking at those tri's every few days, should also give some nice shots.
Well onto the final week before I harvest. Everything is looking nice and smelling up my front hallway, Unfortunately this seed never took on the purple or dark traits which happen but is a slight let down. Either way about the colour the plant is looking nice, there is a good crystal covering on the buds some of the main cola's have fattened up while the smaller ones on the side are still looking good. Onto a lesser note, giving the buds a quick squeeze they seem to be a bit loose, rather then nice dense nuggs. Things may tighten up once the drying is finished, whatever the case its all going to be a good smoke and a decent weight.
This week I'm going to be slowing down the watering and start trimming some of the excess sun leaves around the canopy while keeping the sugar leaves connected so I can sift them after. There isn't too much else to be doing, other then setting up the closet to hang and cleaning out jars for the final cure.
