Grow # 18 - Crystal Candy XL Auto

Here we are for Grow # 18, I can't believe it's been that many already and we're just getting started. This grow will be a first for me as it will feature a breeder I haven't used before, so drumroll, please ........ I decided to go with Sweets Seeds Crystal Candy XL Auto. This is A tall, fourth-generation auto-flowering strain. It was produced by selecting and crossing tall examples of our Crystal Candy Auto®️ plants. The genetics have been developed as part of a special program designed to discover interesting, exquisite, and subtly sweet aromas that evoke an olfactory sensation of sweet shops. The buds have a very sweet, fruity scent with aromatic tones of bubble gum and jelly beans, complemented by shades of acidic strawberries and ripe melons. This strain produces large amounts of aromatic resin crystals and beautiful buds. The plants easily grow over 1 meter tall. I've listed the equipment that will be featured in this grow before getting into the germination process. Equipment Used: Hydro Planet 2x4x5 Grow Tent 3-Gallon Plastic Pot Happy Frog Soil Vivosun 300 watts Full Spectrum Grow Light Vivosun 4" inch Exhaust Fan Vivosun Carbon Filter Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier 4 Desk Fans Acurite Hygrometer 7:00 PM 11/3/2020 Placed Sweet Seeds Crystal Candy Auto XL into a shot glass of water that had a ph of 6.2 8:27 PM 11/5/2020 The seed was cracked open and showing a small taproot after 48-hours of soaking. The seed was placed in a moist paper towel and then place in a black plastic container. 5:56 PM 11/6/2020 The seed had a tap root big enough to planted so into the soil she went. 5:00 PM 11/7/2020 checked to see if there was any sign of life while checking on my Chemdawg seedling and still nothing. 9:18 PM 11/8/2020 Checked on the Crystal Candy XL Auto seed today and it was above the soil and doing very well. Once the true leaves get a bit bigger we'll start counting days. 1:19 PM 11/11/2020 (Day 1) The true leaves were finally big enough to start counting days, so Day 1 begins today, and she is looking good. 2:06 PM 11/14/2020 (Day 4) The Crystal Candy XL auto received her first watering today, she got 250 ml of ph balanced water that had a ph of 6.2. 12:30 PM 11/15/2020 (Day 5) The Crystal Candy XL auto took her first watering very well and is looking great. 8:45 PM 11/17/2020 (Day 7) We've reached the end of the first week for the Crystal Candy XL Auto and things are still looking fairly decent. I do see some slight tip burn which is leading me to believe she wasn't ready to be water along with getting misted. Overall It's been a good first week and after seeing the other diaries I'm excited to get her going. Now it's time for my favorite part of my diary... "S/O TIME"!!! Week 2 5:39 PM 11/18/2020 (Day 8) The plant received a watering today, that had a ph of 6.24 4:05 PM 11/23/2020 (Day 13) The plant received a watering today, that had a ph of 6.19 Overall another great week. Week 3 2:39 PM 11/30/2020 (Day 20) The plant received it's first feeding today, she got a liter of water with a ph of 6.19 I basically left her alone until Day 20 when she got her first feeding during the week she grew another 3" inches, so she's now 6" inches tall. I'm loving how she's growing and with little to no maintenance needed. Now it's time for my favorite part of my diary... "S/O TIME"!!! Week 4 was another easy week for this plant. She's been so easy to grow .... I mean EASY! She was only watered once this week on Day 26, I think the liter was a bit much last week so I'm going back to watering in smaller increments more frequently, which has worked very well for me in the past. She's now 10 1/2" inches tall so she did some growing this week but still no sign of flower and she is one stacked plant, I can't wait until she starts to stretch and show her "XL" side. Lol. Another issue free week with the Crystal Candy XL Auto. Last week either I think I spoke too soon or she heard me when I said there was no sign of flower because this week she is definitely flowering. She went from 10" inches last week to 17.5" inches this, so that's some serious stretching for one week and it looks like she may have more to do. So it looks like she's going to stay true to her " XL" name after all. Lol. Flower sites are beginning to show at a nice rate also still no trichomes yet but I'm sure it won't be long. I went with my normal watering schedule of one watering and one feeding this week keeping the ph. both times at 6.29. Well guys that’s going to be all for this week. Not a lot going on this as we just ended the 2nd Week of Flower, just more stretching and more flower sites popping up left and right. After her feeding this week she shot up another 4" inches but something tells me she isn't down yet the way she's been growing. Other than that there hasn't been much going on. With this being such a crazy year for everyone this year dealing with the pandemic, it's almost refreshing to say we have reached the end of 2020, so this will be the final update of the year for my Sweet Seeds Crystal Candy XL Auto. Since we last left off this lady has really started to bulk up. Her flower sites basically took off this week, she also grew another inch bringing her to 22.5" inches tall. She's also already starting to give off a wonderful smell very early in flower. Since going back to my regular watering regiment, she's been wanting water every two to three days, this week she received one watering and one feeding, I also went up on the nutrients dose slightly, very slightly. Since we last left off with the Sweet Seeds Crystal Candy XL Auto, not much has changed. I'm still seeing crazy growth from all of her flower sites along with some trichomes popping up here and there. What I did notice after going up slightly on the dose of nutrients, was that it was a bit too much for her. A few days after I started noticing some tip burn on the plant but nothing else other than that, just very steady growth. Instead of giving her a feeding and a watering this week, she got two plain waterings with a ph of 6.34 both times. Now it's time for my favorite part of my diary... "S/O TIME"!!! It's been a wild and crazy week and my garden suffered from it a bit. I had a family emergency that required me to be away from my garden for 3 days and when I returned, my plants were literally dying of thirst. This one suffered the most. Basically, all of the fan leaves and sugar leaves had turned yellow, so I removed as much as I could without removing too much. Some of the pistils are turning colors and it has a wonderful smell and crazy trichome production despite the hard week she had. I think I'm not so worried about the damage to the plant because the plant is really getting close to being done so I don't see it being a problem as long I stay on top of things. Week 10 has come and gone and it has been another very easy week. The Crystal Candy XL is almost on her last leg. Lol. Each day the pistils get darker and are starting to recede inward, along with daily trichome production. As the plant has started flowering more and more I think I get where Sweet Seeds was going when they added the "XL" into this strains name and wasn't for her height, it was for her buds and possibly her yield ( that has yet to be determined.), they're bud sites everywhere and they are super dense already I could only imagine what they'll be like at harvest, and the smell she is giving off is so heavenly, It smells so sweet like candy but with a citrus twist. The closer she gets to finishing the more excited I get to finally try her. Now it's time for my favorite part of my diary... "S/O TIME"!!! Very easy strain to grow, so easy I would recommend it for a beginner to grow. I thought that the "XL" was going to be for the height but it turned out it was for the yield, I ended up getting 58.7 grams of some sticky dense buds which isn't too bad for an auto with no training. The top part of the main cola ended up being 5.9 grams. During the grow I can't recall her being a problem at all she just did her own thing unlike some other of the strains I'm growing at the moment. Lol. There's no question in my mind that I will be growing this again and soon. Once again thanks to Sweet Seeds for the opportunity to test out their strains ...
