WB (Week Beginning) 11/22/2020
8 seeds were placed in a glass of water for 36 hours (1 non-viable floater, so down to 7 seeds), then moved the 7 survivors to wet paper towel inside a ziplock bag placed in a cool, dark area.
After 4 days, 6 showed clear signs of sprouting; the 7th seed showed nothing (could be viable, but -) ...
11/26/2020: Contrary to my original estimates, there was only room for (5) 6-inch pots in the nursery area. Therefore, in the very last pot, I planted 2 of the weakest-looking seeds under the heading of "may the strongest survive." 😁 Seed #7, which was looking bad anyway, went to trashland.
11/28/2020: End of week. Initial germination rate was 75%, which is not bad for a bunch of old bag seeds. Nothing has broken above the soil yet, which was to be expected. Because they ARE old seeds, I expect it to take longer for them to break soil.
Watered a little bit daily to encourage those sprouts to grow. Now let's see how many of the 6 seeds turn into seedlings!
Note: this is for more practice growing from seed. My success rate has been TERRIBLE due to incorrect germination techniques, incorrect planting techniques, etc.
I've learned a few things, so now I'll find out if the things I think I learned translates to good results.
