Seeds started pushing out their first root about 30 hours after being put in the damp paper towel, I waited for another 24 hours until their root was about 1/2-5/8 inches long and put them in a solo cup with a mixture of 50/50 Fox Farms Ocean Floor and Happy Frog and Perlite (4:1). The next afternoon the girls made their grand entrance and looks great. By that evening they had gotten to almost 1 inch long and very pretty green cotyledon leaves were spreading out (no bucket heads this grow). By the following morning the first pair of single leafs were big enough to easily see. By day 6 they have gotten to 2 inches long but the stems are really getting big and healthy. No nutes because of the richness of FFOF & HF, just PH water with some TPS Silica Gold and Blue Planet Root Magic Mycorrhizae. I have them in my little 24x24x36 make shift tent with 1 Bloom Plus BP1000 LED light. This is my 2nd grow so I still have a whole lot to learn but it is pretty cool seeing these girls go through their growth cycle. Also this grow I will be trying True Plant Science (TPS) ONE..... we will see if there will be any difference from FF nute trio. Update: Day 7 and the girls are doing great...their first single leaves are bigger than any I have ever seen and the 3 leaf sets are really showing themselves. Update: Day 10 the girls have their full 3 leaf set and their first true leaf set is standing tall in both.

I'm starting week 1 Veg at Day 10 from seed because that is where their first true leaves have shown themselves. I know Autos and Photos have different cycles but this is where I will begin. Day 10 from seed and the girls are really growing strong. They have their first set of 3 leafs that are big and strong and their first set of true leaves are standing up and getting bigger everyday. I'm thinking I will wait until they get their second set of true leaves before I transplant them into 3 gal fabric pots. Still no need for nutes yet, the FFOF/FFHF should get them through until I transplant them. Giving them light sprinkles of PH water with Silica Gold and Mycorrhizae every couple of days when the top of the soil looks dry. Day 12 the girls are growing by the second. I have started feeding them with a 1/4 dose of TPS One with the Silica and Mycorrhizae in very light watering when the soil top looks dry. Day 14 the girls started to get really dark after the light feeding so I cut them back to just H2O and Silica with Mycorrhizae.

Transplanted the girls into their final homes, a 2 gallon fabric pot, sprinkled some Root Magic Mycorrhizae in the hole before the plant went in.. They drooped for several hours after the transplant but have come back strong and continue to grow, grow, grow. Still no nutes, just PH water with Silica Gold and Mycorrhizae. PP #2 has popped out her calyx and pistil, but no sign yet on PP#1. Day 18 did a little light LST on both girls. PP#1 finally showed her feminine white pistils. Water intake is increasing this week roughly 500ml every other day, still no nutes.

This week has had it's challenges, we had a super cold front come thru so trying to keep the girls warm and comfortable was interesting. I slowly increased their light schedule from 18/6 to 20/4 so the lights would generate some heat to keep them warm and cozy. Also added a steam vaporizer to increase humidity. On top of that PP#2 started showing signs of Nitrogen Toxicity and had to be flushed. Even feeding them just water the FF Ocean Floor mix was too hot for them. Looking into making a DWC bucket for my next grow. All in all they seem fine, PP#1 is a short stocky girl and PP#2 is a taller and wider nodes (more LST on #2 to keep her level with little sis. Still feeding them PH water with Silica Gold and Mycorrhizae. I have read several articles on side lighting and thought I would give it a try. I purchased a Full Spectrum LED light set (3- 16 inch light bars) and put them low on the sides and back of my grow tent. We'll see if it makes any difference. Day 26 and the girls are doing great...PP#2 is out growing little sis #1 and is drinking more water daily. Think I got the Nitrogen problem solved.

Missed a few days because of the holidays but the girls are doing just fine. PP#1 the short squatty little sister is the first to show pre-flower. PP#2 isn't showing anything yet but is close. I found a funny looking 8 finger leaf on PP#2 today when I was doing some tucking and then noticed most of her top and new leaves have 7 fingers. Funny how the phenoms from the same strain can be so different. Started the girls on a light dose of Cal/Mag in their water mix.....Still no real nutes yet. Day 32 and the girls are really starting to stretch the past couple of days. PP#1 may be short & squatty but is really showing off her pistils in her preflower stage while PP#2 the tall leggy girl is barely starting to show preflowering signs. I have started both on a light dosage of TPS One in their regular feedings. Day 34 the girls are liking the light nute feedings of TPS One. They are still getting Cal/Mag, Silica Gold and Mycorrhizae. The leaves are looking great and they have the best smell. PP#1 is really growing but her leaves are smaller than big sis PP#2 which is a beast. We'll see which one is the best producer come harvest time. I've been tucking leaves while LST training but may start some light defoliation soon. I really like these Barney's Purple Punch (seeds)plants and the smoke is wonderful also.👍

This should be the last week of veg before full flowering with PP#1. Looks like PP#2 is about a week behind. In the pics you can see how much bigger #2 is beside little sis #1. Stretching the limbs apart for more light on bud sites and did some light defoliation on some of the bigger fan leaves. Still tucking the smaller ones. I'm keeping the nutes to bare minimum with 1/4 dose of TPS One at each feeding with Cal/Mag and Silica Gold. They are really stretching out and have grown at least 1/3 of their size this past week. Can't wait to see them in full bloom. We have had a very unusual cold front with some very cold air here lately, so I have had to do some really creative things to keep the girls warm and happy. I insulated the outside of the grow tent with blankets & tarps and to keep the humid in check I put a bucket of water with a paper towel hanging over the side to wick up water. A fan is blowing over it and it seems to work OK, raised the humidity by 6%. Well the girls are just at going into full flower mode and I will be starting them on some Signal by TPS with TPS One, Silica Gold and Mycorrhizae at their next feeding. All in all the grow has been really easy except for this stupid cold weather we have been getting. Grow On😎👌

Both plants are now in full flowering mode... I'm still battling cooler temps but the girls seem to be doing OK. I have started them on a 1/2 dose of TPS Signal this feeding with their other nutes & additives and so far so good. we'll see how this terpene enhancer work at harvest time. They are still stretching and the bud sites are looking very nice. Day 42 the girls are still doing great during this cold snap. Gave then some light defoliation today with their regular feeding. So far using TPS One has been really nice... the plants are healthy and a beautiful shade of green, no signs of any deficiencies. I posted a pic of my insulated grow tent, it has been working like a champ....45 degrees outside and a nice 68-70 degrees in the tent. Day 44 The weather has warmed up a bit but the girls are loving their warm tent. All the nutes and additives are working great...no leaf discoloration or any deficiency. Plants are stretching and bud sites are getting bigger.

The days have been up and down with cold temps and humidity but the girls have taken it like champs. They are hungry eaters, I have been feeding them 1 litre of nutes and additives every 2 days. The TPS One has been working out very well, I have been keeping the dosage at 1/3 of their recommended dosage. No signs of deficiencies or discoloration of leaves. Bud sites are stacking up nicely and starting to see some trichomes on the small sugar leafs. Looking forward to seeing how much the girls produce this harvest. Day 48...Still doing some light defoliation to open up the girls. They had a thick inner canopy and I have been cleaning it up slowly. PP#1 is really showing off her frosty leaves while big sis PP#2 is not showing anything yet. It's funny because PP#2 was a race horse of the two. She is the bigger of them was always ahead of PP#1 about a week or so. They both are BIG eaters and are both taking a little over a litre of nutes and additives every other day. Day 50 and the girls are stretching like crazy...had to raise the lights up couple of inches twice this past week. I also increased the amount of TPS One and Cal/Mag I am putting in their feed water and they seems to like it. I have finished my leaf defoliation on them for this grow. I pretty much got all the cover fan leaves and inside leaves removed. PP#2 still not showing any trichomes on her top leaves yet..don't know why. All in all they are happy girls and looking great. Day 52 PP#2 has finally started to show off new frosty trichomes on her upper sugar leaves. PP#1 is just putting on weigh and enjoying life. They are eating like crazy and have really taken to the TPS One nutes. This week has been a growth week, I can't wait to see the buds start bulking up. 💪

Day 54 and start of week 8 in full flower mode.....what a ride this has been. The weather has been extremely crazy going from temps of 38 to 75 degrees in the past week and RH of 37 to 78. It has kept me on my toes trying to come up with ways of making the girls comfortable and healthy. They are bulking up nicely and eating like crazy. They can't seem to get together on their feeding schedules...one wants fed one day and the other wants it the next. What's a parent to do? Both of the girls are showing off their pretty frosty trichomes and they have been getting thicker everyday. I love this Barney's Purple Punch Auto strain. It is so nice and easy to grow and a delight to smoke. Grow On 😎👌 Day 56..And the temperature roller coaster just keeps on and on.... Yesterday 77 degrees with 81%RH 😧 today 48 degrees and 41%RH. But the girls are looking great and packing on the weight. I've been thinking about how long to let the grow go. Last grow I cut the plants down when the trichomes were completely milky and just a few amber...I may let hem amber out a bit more this time, we'll see. Day 58...The girls are really getting frosty and they smell oh so good. Stretching has seemed to have stopped but the buds are filling in nicely and some of the pistils are started to darken up. Still fighting the temperature/RH swings we are having here, but the girls are taking everything thrown at them. Kudos to Barney's for such a spectacular strain.👍

Grow Questions

Orion1522started grow question 4 years ago
I know everyone has their own opinions on when to harvest. Is it better to have some amber trichomes or a lot? I have read that the more amber trichomes the stronger the effect that the smoke will have. It that true or just bullshit? 😎👌

the reason most growers talk about amber trichromes is because its a forsure sign the rest of the plant is mature. Every grower has their opinions. Even myself. But its proven that thc% is highest when the trichromes are milky. So growers will wait until some of the plant (10 to 20%) is amber. This is the tipping point. You don't want to harvest late with a lot of amber. Or harvest to early with not enough milky.. My answer is no.its not good to have a lot of amber trichromes. Remember. Amber= degrading thc

The start of week 9 and the girls are flourishing. Everyday the buds are filling in and bulking up. I think I might have a real nice crop this go around. These girls have been real hardy and have taken a lot of temp/RH swings but they have powered through it. Day 62....I really must say this has been the best grow for me to date (I hope I don't jinks myself!). Hardly no nute trouble what so ever. The girls leaves have been beautiful green this whole grow. As it starts to wind down I really think I will exceed my last harvest of Purple Punch this time. My last grow took them into week 11 but this grow may go a bit longer from the looks. I will start looking at the trichomes closer later this week. Day 64....The girls are on the final leg of their grow. The trichomes are mostly cloudy with a few clear and amber but some of the pistils haven't changed colors yet. I'll let them go until I get approximately 10-20% amber. The buds are super sticky with resin (these girls would press great) and the sugar leaves are sticky as well. I don't really do any flushing before harvest but will just cut back on nutes and feed PH water the last week before harvest.

This is the start of week 10 and the girls are finishing up great. They have been on a plain PH water feeding for the past 2 days and their trichomes are just at completely cloudy with a few amber. I will let them run until Friday when sad to say they will be harvested. I gave the girls their pre-harvest haircut...I removed 85%of all non sugar fan leaves. Day 70...Well the time has come for the girls to meet their glorious ending. This grow has had some wild temp/RH swings but other than that it has been a super easy grow thanks to True Plant Science(TPS) and their great line up of products. Absolutely zero deficiencies while using TPS One!! TPS Signal (terpene enhancer) really works well. I cut off a small popcorn bud while trimming #2 and dried it for a sample and WOW!!! With no cure time the smoke was as smooth as can be and this plants phenoms are over the top. It hit me like a wack to my head.... I had to sit down and take the ride it was giving me. I am very happy with this overall grow using TPS products. I will update when I get the cutting and trimming done tomorrow.

Barney's hit it out of the park with this strain. I really like my Indica for pain/sleep medication. I make high strength Cannabis Oil with some of it and vape some. It has helped my back and knee pains and has given me the best night sleep ever. She may not be the highest THC strain out there but the buds are dense, covered with sticky trichomes. This strain would make a great one for resin pressing. If you smoke/vape too much she will smack you up side your head and sit you down for a good couple of hours. After the buds are all dried I will update the final dry weight and give you all the ever important smoke /effect report. Thanks for following my grow, I have learn so much going through so many others growers diaries. Grow On😎👌 ***UPDATE: 2/21*** The dry is finished and the numbers are mind boggling. PP#1 ended up with 1.83 oz(52 gr) PP#2 ended up with 2.46 oz(70 gr) with 11gr of dry trim. All I can say is WOW!!!. I can't say enough good things about Barney's Purple Punch Auto and True Plant Science (TPS) products. I am going to try another Barney's strain Watermelon Zkittles Auto real soon. The smoke report even before curing is smooth and very effective. After final trimming and putting buds in jars for curing I did up a quick couple of hits and I am very happy with the outcome. Thanks for checking out my grow. Till next time...Grow On 😎👌
