Dropped the seed in a glass of warm water and left it there for maybe a day and a half. As soon as it cracked open I just planted it in the soil. Normally I’ll switch to paper towel method to make the tap root longer but in this case I did not. I lost a couple plants before this and I finally realized that it was the humidity was too low I think. Averaging 23% humidity in the tent so I covered this one with plastic wrap and it seems to be working much better. Growing quick.

So soon I am going to have to start making some decisions I think on how to care for this. The nutrients in the soil FoxFarms Happy Frog will likely run out in a week maybe? Again this is exactly 3 weeks from planting. So it should probably be week 3, I don’t know how to count. The site wasn’t letting me start with week 1 had to do germination and couldn’t save germ without a picture. I will try to see if I can fix this and shift them all 1 week forward. Again I am a rookie here and will do some reading up on all this when I have time but here are the things I don’t know that am starting to think about. #1. When to start feeding nutrients. I got a General Organics Growbox probably 6 months ago have kept it in my closet in room temperature. When do I start using it? Is it even still good? #2. Transplantation. This plant is growing so quick, I know this pot is too small. So I need to figure out how and when to transplant it and into what size container. This is a small tent 2x2x4. So I can only raise the light so high. And I don’t want to kill it during transplantation. #3. Training, when to start low stress training and exactly how to go about that. Need a plan for this. #4. Topping. When to top it, should I top it. Should I use a different strategy. Need a plan. #5. Humidity. I think I have a solution for this. I know what the humidity needs to be. I bought a humidifier but I did not buy a humidity controller may need one of those or just pay attention to it. #6. What am I missing? I feel like I’m forgetting something. Overall I think it’s going pretty well so far. Plant is growing fast and healthy though I suspect up until now is the easy part. Dresden Green Diamond seems to be a resilient plant, since I haven’t killed it yet. Thanks for following and for all your help I’m sure I’ll get from you peoples. Appreciate you. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, until next Monday. Ciao.

Grow Questions

Ok, first real issue. The plant today is starting to wilt considerably and the lower leaves have started to turn yellowish green. I just watered it this morning and it’s looking worse than it did earlier. What could be causing this? I haven’t started feeding yet. Soil depleted?

Wilting might be due to some water damage, take off the plastic covering and aerate the soil. Water when the top 5cm/2inches are dry with at least 20-30% of the water as runoff. Fertilizing should usually start when the first set of leaves have fully developed (start-mid week 2 from seed normally) so I would start giving her some nutrients! If you're having humidity issues and the humidifier isn't enough then try hanging a warm damp towel in the grow space to try and increase it. Hope this helps! Good luck and happy growing :)

This week was nerve wracking for me ran into my first issues. Almost right after I posted last week, the plant got really droopy and wilted and the lower leaves started turning yellow. Wasn’t sure what was wrong, first I thought I underwatered it, because it just started drinking a lot faster. I didn’t know if the pot was too small maybe and it needed to be transplanted. In the end, I gave it a couple good waterings, and started feeding it nutrients for the first time and today it’s finally seemed to perk back up and be good. The photos posted are from yesterday morning. Looking better today. Going to defoliate the damaged lower leaves this week and will need to re-pot it soon I think. Used General Organics Bio-Thrive Grow from their Go Box.

Had some issues with the big fan leaves on the lower nodes. They weren’t doing so great, turning brown and brittle so I cut them off today. Hopefully that helps, probably should have done it sooner but I was a little worried I was going to kill it or something. It’s still growing though, lots of new growth and a few branches growing potential bud sites so I think it’s ok. The reason the leaves were dying? Could have been the low humidity. Could have been underwatering (she’s sucking up the water really quickly, needs to be transplanted). Maybe I have the light too close, realized today it’s only 8 inches away, I was just eyeballing it. If you know the proper distance for this Mars Hydro TS1000 LED please comment below. I will be transplanting this week on Thursday when my new Air-pots come. Goals for this week: Figure out exactly how much I should be feeding this thing, it’s possible it needs cal-Mag added to the food? If you know about nutrients please comment below. I am using the General Organics GoBox. Hopefully cutting those leaves will lead to some new growth. I checked out the gross of some of you that have commented. You all are doing awesome I know there is a lot I can learn from this community and appreciate any help you can give. I don’t really have a lot of time for research these days with my work schedule and children and there is a lot of information out there it’s hard to sort out the good stuff. Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!

The week went pretty well. I cut off a couple more fan leaves that were just looking pretty sad and were blacking the branches anyways. Also, I transplanted it to the 2.2 gallon Airpot on Friday. It seems to be taking to its new home well. I think it was rootbound and that was part of the problem I’ve been having. The plant grew 2 inches this week so despite the issues I’ve been having the plant is still growing and is actually looking pretty good again. My main concern now is that the tent is too small. I have the light as high as the pulley allows and it is now about 12 inches away from the plant. I should have been training this sideways and topping it earlier. Lesson learned for next time, if I can’t control the height I may need to force flowering early.

Great week!!! What a resilient plant, a few different times now I’ve come up with issues, I attempt to diagnose and compensate with my limited growing knowledge and the thing just keeps coming back better and healthier and stronger then before. So far, I am very happy with this strain, Dresden Green Diamond from the Garden of Green seed company because it’s been so easy for a beginner like me and it’s going so well. Looks like they are either sold out or they discontinued the strain possibly I got them as freebies with my order on Seedsman but yea super happy with it. So on to the meat and potatoes of this week. I realized the biggest issue that I have now is going to be controlling the heigh of the plant. It’s only a 4 foot tent. The pot takes at least a foot of height space away, the light is currently as high as the pulley system allows and is still hanging down a foot from the top. (I may have to end up just juryrigging a new attachment system for it to get more space. Also the plant is now about a foot tall and the light is 10 inches away. I’ve heard that they can double or more in height during flowering which would be a problem. So what to do? I topped it this week for the first time. Hoping that will redirect some of the plants energy into developing the lower branches, of which I have a healthy number. So I’m hoping they will catch up with the top of the plant and I just have a bunch of top sites. There are also 2 new top branches starting to grow from the top site. As soon as they are big enough I will bend them at a 90 degree angle to try and prevent it from going any taller than this point. I haven’t got around to it yet but I will begin LST this week as well to spread the branches out a bit and have them more horizontal to fill up more of my space. Overall, things are going great.

Week went well. Did some major defoliation because it was getting very bushy I couldn’t even see the main stem. Also used some flex wire to LST the lower branches and the twin top. Had a bit of a hiccup where I didn’t water on a day that I should have apparently and it wilted a lot. But I just watered the crap out of it and it bounced back. More evidence of the strain’s (or at least this pheno of the strain’s) resiliency. Debating on whether to top all the lower branches. Feel free to weigh in in the comments below if you have an opinion on that. Feeling like I should. Also going to need to figure out how to raise this light higher, the pulley system that it came with is as high as it goes, so I’ll just have to juryrig something for it.
