📆 1st February Day 78
WEEK 12:
The last pictures before I harvested these girls.
As expected the water uptake was minimal during the last weeks of their life so this is the important time to reflect on how we fed the plants during the life cycle.
The last phase of the cannabis plants life is by us growers considered the ripening period. So during this time the buds are actually using all the nutrients in the leaves. If there are too many nutrients in the medium we run into problems like “Nutrient lockout”.
Also to add to that we get bad tasting buds.
There are many negative effects when we overfert during the last weeks of the plants life. Trickle feeding and generally under feeding during the flowering period are preferred methods to produce the cleanest healthiest buds. So to sum it up yellowing leaves are not a sign of plant death and we should not put too much effort into “fixing” the problem, but more effort on solving it. I hope that makes sense (if not ask me?!)
If you asked me am I happy how this grow turned out, I would say yes 100% I’ve learned a lot like I do every grow. I would never say I’m pro level grower! I don’t want to talk like I am a pro, I just like to think I have a lot of useful knowledge and lots of time time spent practicing and researching. Lots of trial and error... lots of problems.
So that’s why I’m happy with my results, even if they don’t look so good as other growers. Be thankful for what you have. Hope everyone is keeping well and grow on with confidence in yourself. Peace and ❤️
hey can i ask a question i germinated one gorilla cookies last week saturday or sunday if i remember im new to growing have only made it out with 1 harvest now on my 2nd try... the thing is that i couldnt ever get a seed pop out the soil normally i always have to dig the soil to pull the seed out and put it more closer to the surface... im starting loose hope now as it looks like its roots stopped developing the thing i want to ask you is should i use my leds for 24h straight before sprout and how long did it took u to see the seed comming out of the soil? hope u can help me out im really confused right now... im growing in soil biobizz light mix 400w led having a humidifier about to use it when it sprout if its ever will... i already have a 2nd gorilla seed germinated just in case the seed wont open its cotelydon or try to break through the shell im just waiting for the 2nd for the taproot to get longer so i can plant it... i heard from a guy that i should never get the seed out of the soil to check it but i did it in every grow i tried should i just wait or dump the germinated seed thats in soil and pop out the 2nd one and only spray when its needed
@eksdee, I do not water again until the seeds are out of the surface.
I do spray once or twice to keep surface moist but not wet. And yes half bottles will work perfectly.
I just advise you to avoid disturbing the soil. When germinating seeds 72 hours is 3 days not “planted Monday so they should be up by Wednesday” you have to be super patient and not dig around.
(I will admit that I do often scratch the surface to check if the seeds on its way up, but I’ve had 100s of successful germinations so I guess It just comes with experience. I will also add that I’ve killed seeds by doing this. And also by taking the seed coat off. You can get something that’s called “helmet head seedling” that’s forced me to remove the seed coat ultimately breaking the seed)
@eksdee, Hi, it can be quite a pain to get the right method!! But the #1 thing is patience!!
Different things work for different people.
For me I get 100% succes with just putting the seed straight in the soil. 3-4 days later there up...
I prepare the soil before I plant the seeds NOT by watering the whole pot but by using only 100ml of water to the center of the pot.
Then I use a pen/pencil to poke a hole in the moist soil... 1cm is deep enough. Any deeper you can lose seeds.
I also use my mouth to wet the seeds first, I suck on them for a couple of mins then put them in the hole and cover with a tiny sprinkle of soil.
Then I cover the surface with a piece of Plastic wrap/cling film
i also think it stopped developed cause i need to spray her like every 1 and a half hour or even less and i missed
some time and the top of the soil got dried out thats what makes me think i should dump her and be more consinsent with the 2nd one and dont disturb her while in soil
