Ordered some seeds through Strainly for the first time based on some recommendations from Reddit (it's a pretty neat platform, you should check it out!). Popped one bean into a wet paper towel and a ziplock (as seen in photo), and about 18 hours later, I had a root poking out! I moved her from the paper towel into a soaked Jiffy pellet with a glass over it. In another couple days, she had poked her head out and reached the top of the glass, so I figured she was ready to move into the soil.

So, if you've followed the other journal I started, you'll know I recently discovered that my soil was way to compact for the plant's roots, and I basically repotted both of my girls in a much better (looser) soil. For this gal, I made sure to get it right from the beginning. I setup my 5gal pot in 3 layers: 1) Bottom 3rd - 1 part each: FFOF, EWC & Perlite, heavily amended with Dr. Earth All Purpose 4-4-4 and some Mycorrhizae 2) Middle 3rd - 1 part of the mix above, and 1 part FFLW (Light Warrior - their seed starting mix) 3) Top 3rd - FFLW w/ a light sprinkling of Mycorrhizae and some clover seed I bought at the hydro store Unfortunately, this week was not without incident (of course)... On day 3 or 4, I was about to put the seedling into my prepared pot, I was pulling off the netting from the Jiffy Pellet (not sure if this is necessary, but I figured it wouldn't hurt), and I dropped the mother fcker plant-side down onto my concrete balcony T-T I could see the stem was bent and she got floppy AF immediately, so I finished removing the net, dropped her in the soil and propped her up with my trusty binder clip/skewer combo, and brought the pot into my closet under my cheapo blurple Amazon LED light. To my surprise, she seems to be recovering - her first leaves (after the petiole) had appeared almost immediately on Day 1 or 2 after popping, and they seem to have about doubled in size since then, and her stem seems to be strengthening as well. Hopefully she'll survive my butter fingers without issue. Stay tuned for more!

I brought the gal out during the thunderstorm for some natural water (just a few minutes outside to get wet, brought her back in afterward). I can see that the indoor start has obviously done a lot of good for her. She's nice and strong and healthy, no stretch, and seems to be growing at a steady rate. Leaves are fattening up every day, although she looks like she's going to stay short. From today, I've started bringing her out onto the balcony for about 8-10 hours while the sun is out. I figure I'll rest the lights, let her sit in some better humidity (closet is around 30%, outside has been nice around 70% cause of the recent rain). Hopefully the colder outdoor temps (around 60) during the day dont put her off. But we'll see. Also been getting annoyed at the soil gnats that seem to love the closet. Tried to spray with some neem (about 1 tbsp in a liter), but it doesn't seem to have done much. Will try reapplying next week and we'll see.

Started watching @dreamatoes grow on IG and got inspired to top the shit out my girls. Took her in from 5 nodes to 2, probably should've caught it earlier. Started training her outwards to open up the middle of the plant. She took to the first topping pretty well, and bounced back a couple days later.

She recovered well from the topping on Day 18, but then I came into a gnat issue from overwatering (hence the yellow stickies). I've since started bottom feeding, and the issue seems mostly under control now. I was using these short 6" stainless garden stakes to train her, and one slipped as I was pushing it into the ground, leaving her with a broken arm (on one of the main branches too 😢). She's still growing, but the damage seems to have slowed growth a bit. Hopefully she'll bounce back soon!

She's doing great! I've been defoliating any fan leaves that obstruct bud sites, haven't topped her any further than before, since it seems like she's developing nicely. I've been removing budsites that form on the ground side of the branches, and allowing the sites that are exposed to good light flourish. She's been handling everything I've thrown at her without any issue so far. Obviously, she's recovered from the sprained arm, and I finally got rid of all the gnats by bottom feeding my water. Interesting to see how much more developed she is compared to the FastBuds Amnesia Haze. She's about 1 week older, but probably 3x the vegetative growth, and still no signs of sex right now. I wonder if the ruderalis gene was crossed in farther down the line or something ? (Does that matter? Idk.) Anyways, hopefully she'll go into flower soon and start pumping out crystals! 😝

She's coming along nicely. Nothing bad to report this week (thankfully). Started bottom-feed watering every other day since the pot seems to go light after 2 days. Captured some rain in a bucket to feed them, I think that must be better than my shitty tap water. I'm not really too sure how to defoliate properly, I keep removing fan leaves that are covering other bud sites, and leaves that are no longer getting any direct light (below the canopy). I feel like I should be removing the shitty larf bud sites beneath the canopy too, right? 😵 I have no idea lol. Just trying not to kill her, and waiting for the buds to come in!
