I germinated by putting the seed into wet peat pellet, that for the first 2 days sat in a plastic cup. Then it was transferred into the final pot. It first peaked on day 3, showing itself fully the next day. For the time being I am misting it with PHed water & rhizotonic.
Second week is here, and the plant is looking good. I was a little worried the first week as it seemed to be growing slowly, but it since seemed to pick up.
I also added a layer of hydroton on top of the soil, as I made this soil mix really light and it was being carried away when watering from top.
I jumped the gun with feeding, as some of the leaves starting clawing after, but no burnt tips, so I watered with just water & rhizotonic next and will go easy on the nitrogen next time.
I wanted to try some HST, but was pretty torn if to do it or not as the info online seems to be divided on the subject. In the end I tried FIM, but now I am not sure if it was the right move :D well see.
Just waiting to see how the plant handles the FIM I did last week.
Also I started to see some white hairs => it seems preflowering is here, so I switched to flowering feeding schedule.
Day 24: Bent the main stalk in an attempt to spread out the bushy plant.
Day 25: Everything is pointing up again, but the planch is still bunched up, many leaves touching and staying wet. I took out 3 large fan leaves that were the worst offenders.
The stretch has started, and smell is really nice even now.
I started seeing sings of cal/mag deficiency around day 33, probably caused by too low PH, since two watering before that were with 6.0 PH water. I watered with higher PH, and added more of the "Mikro" feeding solution that should contain these minerals.
Otherwise the grow is really bushy, leaves and buds everywhere so I think I will need to defoliate more, but I am waiting for the deficiencies to correct.
The deficiency slowed down, but I still spotted signs on some new leaves, so again tried to feed with higher dose of minerals.
Day 40 update: The deficiencies are still getting worse. I got biobizz calmag and added to two last feedings, but the deficiencies are still continuing ... Beside that the plant looks fine, lot of bud sites and it fills the box completely, so 🤞 the harvest will be still good.
Still trying to figure out how to prevent the continuing calmag deficiency ... The PH & TDS should be correct, I even checked the runoff and everything is fine (PH 6.6, TDS 800 ppm), I am also adding calmag directly, but it does not seems to be really helping, so I am running out of ideas 🤷♂️.
EDIT day 44: I posted a question (https://growdiaries.com/grow-questions/29177-continuing-calmag-deficiency) about the deficiencies, and got a really thought out answer from ORGANOMAN, which after some thinking made a lot of sense.
After I first started feeding nutrients, I noticed some leaves clawing, so I laid of the nutrient with Nitrogen in it, thinking I am helping. But the initial nitrogen exceess could be caused by me using lightly pre-fertilized soil, which I realized only now.
The second thing pointing me to the nitrogen deficit being true is, that I "accidentally" added the nitrogen nutrient to one feeding, and the deficiencies slowed down significantly for a few days after that. Only at that time, I did not connect the dots, and was still treating the perceived calmag deficiency. Lets hope this is it 🤞.
The deficiencies seem to have stopped getting worse, so me not using all 3 parts of the feeding "package" was the problem.
The buds are getting fatter and its getting more crowded in the box, so I did so defoliation and tried to get light to more of the lower buds.
The smell got stronger, buds are getting thicker (although there seems to be some foxtailing).
I could not see any amber trichomes yet, so still a week or two to go 🤷♂️
Not much happening here, the smell got stronger again. All the buds started foxtailing so I thought the plant would be close to harvest.
But, when I tried to hunt down some amber trichomes today, I could not find any! Seems I will try to leave it a little longer ... ⌛
EDIT d68: Saw first amber trichomes 🎉, will probably do last watering tomorrow, then 48 hours of blue only light and
Really nice purple buds with a taste of berry and wood/earth. The high is really heady with a "are those really MY hands?" quality, extremely smooth even before 2 week curing. Nice strain that will definitely return to my growbox.
Growing was nice, I ran into some deficiencies but the yield was really nice regardless with 65 g of which about 5g is really larfy. She took nicely to the FIMing I did, which in retrospect was good choice because she would probably outgrow my space if not managed.
@Chilipadi, Yes I did for a few feedings (Biobizz calmag) but I now think that was not the main problem. It turns out it was caused by me not using all 3 parts of the feeding (only 2). It seems to have stopped getting worse since I went back to all 3.
@Chilipadi, Thanks for the tip, but I do not think so. Its the same light I used for last 2 grows, where the canopy was even closer than it is now, and this is the first time I saw these problems.
@minigroww, yeah been there too.. i grew soil too with lots of problems then went pure coco with only floranova and boom 100-140gram per plant everytime, only have to correct the ph to around 6.1 and yr golden
@Chilipadi, It seems to be. All of the buds on mine started to foxtail around day 50. If you look at the strain page here at growdiaries (growdiaries.com/seedbank/fastbuds/lsd-25) I think you can see foxtails on many of the pics.
