„DP Auto Duck“ F1 / Indoor Experiment

Germination was successful. All 4 plants woke up after 3 days in the soil without any issues. To keep temperature and humidity at the sweet spot, I placed them under a plastic dome by around 26 and 90% So far, the first leafs developed and the plants got bigger every day by not too much stretching. They will be kept in this environment until they are ready for a bigger pot. Keep in touch ! Cheers HighZenBerg

Healthy looking sprouts and steady progress. Not much to do in week 2 except giving them tab water and keeping the temperature between 20 C at night and 25 C during day time by humidity between 80-90%. By the end of week two I will move them to bigger pots. Keep in touch ! Cheers HighZenBerg

Start of week 3 and the plants look healthy with minor issues. They did quite a good progress in growth although the humidity is often only between 35% and 45%. Try to solve this problem ASAP. Keep in touch ! Cheers HighZenBerg

Week 4 and the plants seem to be vital. They did quite a good progress in growth during the week. I startet with some LST to keep them in shape for my small 60x60 tent. At the start of next week, I will do a replacement of the light. My Elektrox LSR seems not to give enough light as needed for the grow space, so I ordered an Sanlight Q3W LED lamp. Hopefully everything will work as aspected. So far, the strain does not show any of the Auto Duck features. So seeds from an original auto flower will have different phenotypes as their mother. After 30 days from seed, the plants did a nice progress in growth. This week I did some light defoliation with LST which gave them the chance to develop bigger side branches. So far, they seem to be healthy and hopefully the will show first signs of pre flowers in the next 10 days (at least if they kept their auto flower genetics) I noticed, that these plants have nothing to do with their original mother. Not one single duck leaf developed, although their growth shape reminds me of this strain and progress is comparable. Keep in touch ! Cheers HighZenBerg

A lot was going on in the tent in the last days. Two plants showed clear signs of pre flowers but also one seems to be male (I will wait a few days to be fully sure) and one didn’t decide for now. So far all 4 plants got the same attention but they have very different appearance. The tallest plant is nearly 60cm and stretches everyday with pre flowers since the last 4 days. In comparison the smallest is only 30cm showing absolutely nothing right now. Keep in touch ! Cheers, HighZenBerg

The plants developed good this week. Buds are forming nicely an they still stretched a lot. I almost need to tie them down every day because the grow too close to the light. I hope the stretching stops soon and the fattening begins. ❗️BAD NEWS ❗️ 2 of the remaining 3 plants are hermaphrodites. I chopped one down today because there was no development in buds but pollen sacks were very close to mature. I hope they did not affect the others. The 2 plants left show a nice bud structure and I try to remove as much male parts as possible to get them through flower stage without much pollination. For sure the quality of the buds will be far away from ideal but that’s why I call it an experiment. What did I learn so far: #1: seeds of original auto flower strains will bring up an completely different, photoperiodic strain #2: never use seeds of hermaphrodite plants because they will be hermis too #3: it was a nice way to experience training methods such as LST, super cropping, lolipopping and SCROG #4: learning to identify different genders in reality and getting more feeling for the plants, growth structure and how incredibly robust this plant is I learned it the “hard way” but to see it in a positive light: I gained a little more experience and knowledge Hopefully these hints will prevent other people from copying my mistakes 😅 Keep in touch ! This week was without problems. I removed some leafs to expose the flowers to more light. The hermi one doesn’t show visible male parts but I will keep an eye on it. Keep in touch ! Cheers, HighZenBerg

That’s it. I had to harvest before more seeds will develop. All 4 plants became hermaphrodite. I hope my next project will be more successful. Although I loved to grow these plants and as always, it was a pleasure to see the development. My next project is already planned, stay tuned for some skunk 😉 Cheers, HighZenBerg
