Starting up the ones that will go outside in a little less than 2 months. Getting a head start vegging indoors under my LEDs because we only have about 4 months of good warm weather here. I'm running mostly Indicas for the shorter flowering time. Just popped each of them yesterday, 100% germination. I'm hoping to get some pretty massive bushes out of these 😃. Not much to see this week but I plan on updating the progress weekly until the end!
Entering into week 2, things are still going good. Growth seems a little slow but I'm not worried at all. Chocolate Mint OG definitely taking off compared to the others and will need to be transplanted into a larger pot soon. Started building their hoop house for summer this week as well. It's 10' x 6' x 7' allowing for plenty of room for the four of them. Still trying to decide if I want to put them in the ground or 100+ gallon pots as final homes, any opinions would be appreciated.
All 4 are doing well this week. CMOG has a couple small spots that I think are from nutrient burn but I'm not worried because FFOF is hot soil. I think the soil might be causing a very slight stunt to growth as well for each of them, it has happened to me in the past. I transplanted them today into same soil on 4/23 and so far no visible shock. I'm expecting to transplant up again in maybe 2 weeks likely for the last time before their final home in 50 gallon fabric pots outdoors. The hoop house is just about complete. Hopefully I can finish it next week, weather permitting.
Edit (4/26): The spots on the CMOG have gotten a little worse in the past few days. I've determined its an early calcium deficiency so I've been supplementing calmag, only for CMOG though because the other seem very happy so far. Despite the minor issue its still the largest plant so far.
Entering into Week 4. I can't believe it's already been 4 weeks. They are growing like there's no tomorrow. I transplanted each of them into 1 quart containers last week. The CMOG is in a 1 gallon container as it is growing way faster than the others. The roots are peeking out of the bottom of all the containers and there has been no transplant shock at all 😃. Probably going to start topping them this week, especially the Blue Dream as it is growing vertically more so than the others. Still only using Cal-Mag but will probably start with some mild veg nutrients mid week to get them introduced. One month from now they will be outdoors on their own, Maybe sooner if they outgrow my tents 👌.
Going into week 5 strong. All plants are quickly outgrowing their containers. I need to get larger containers for each of them for next week. I topped the Blue Dream because it was gaining a lot of vertical growth, it is a little stressed as of now but I'm hoping for a quick recovery. I am starting to shorten the timer's on/off period by 1 hour each week until the end of the month so they can go outside and have a similar light cycle. The weather here has been sporadic lately and there has been a lot of rain so they haven't had a chance to go out to begin hardening off yet but maybe next week that can start.
Update 5/8: Repotted them all into their last containers before going outside. They spent some time outside yesterday to soak up some sun since it's been nicer out. I moved them to another tent with an HPS light to veg them since its a bit stronger than the LEDs. A couple preflowers are showing on the CMOG and the M.O.B. but they're too small to get a good pic of. Will update again next week. Cheers!
Going strong into Week 6. I have been upping the Grow Big nutrients amount because they have been looking pretty hungry the past week. They got transplanted into 2 gallon pots late last week and they have been filling in so quickly. The Blue Dream has especially taken off after being topped, it has gained at least 5 inches in just the last week. I've begun to harden them off and change their time cycles down to match the outdoor timer. Next week will be their last week indoors and then they'll be off on their own!
They have exploded in growth the last week! They are nearly too tall for my tent and they will be going outside to their larger homes mid this week. They have been gradually hardening off and are getting used to the sun 😎. These ladies are going to be massive I can already tell. Cheers to next week!
They went outside this week. They've been handling it very well so far and have had no slow down of growth. I have stopped using all liquid nutrients and am relying on my organic soil mix I created out of local lobster compost, Canadian peat moss, FFOF & FFHF soil, local cow manure, local chicken manure, native soil, bat guano, mycorrhizae fungi, and a perlite/vermiculite combo. I plan on topdressing/ brewing teas for future feedings but I think this soil will last a majority of the grow and flower period. I have been using diatomaceous earth to combat potential bug invasions, so far so good. Weather is looking a little bad this week, but they'll keep on trucking.
They've been loving the outdoors! Explosions in growth this past week. The spots on the plants are from tree pollen, it covers everything outside this time of year 😒. Planning on doing some LST this week and taking some clones to free up some lower growth. Blue Dream is getting really tall, close to 5ft now, might have to do more topping and heavier LST. The weather finally seems to be turning around so lets hope it stays, cheers to next week!
They have been absolutely taking off this past week. Weather has been nice and there has been plenty of sunshine 😃. Topped the Blue Dream again last week and it has taken on a bushier form already. M.O.B. is next for topping/supercropping as it is reaching 5' mark already. CMOG looks sad in the pic because I just sprayed it down with cold water, it has had a small spider mite infestation and I have been spraying them down every morning. Hopefully I don't have to resort to neem or spinosad but I will if mother nature doesn't take the wheel. Cheers to next week!
Off to another good week! I had to move them into a larger area because of their size and overwhelming smell inside the tent. I wasn't expecting them to get so big so quickly and training can only hold them back so much at this point. Each of them are easily over 5 feet and still growing about half an inch every day or so. The spider mites are still there but I'm trying to get rid of them, I'm open to any advice! Other than that things are going well.
I highly advise to use neem oil and spray on the foliage. Make sure to spray the top and underside of the leaf.you may also try insecticidal soaps. The key is to reputedly spray the foliage as it is instructed on the packaging. Typically you will have to do it for a week or so every day to make sure that you have killed everything. You could if you would like as well but large mosquito netting and drape it over the plants. Place ladybugs inside and they should devour the spider mites. Every grow I use lady bugs I typically have no issues. Good luck on your grow!
It's been an incredible week of growth. The Sour Blueberry has grown like 6 inches alone. They've been entirely self sufficient as there has been plenty of rain the past week. My spider mite problem seems to have resolved itself after applying a neem oil + drop of dish soap spray every few days. It looks like thrips are trying to move in now but I think mother nature has this one handled because there are swarms of long legged flys munching away at them. These plants are basically an ecosystem at this point and I see at least 6 different types of of bugs, mostly good ones like spiders, each time I check on them. The summer solstice has passed so sunlight will start getting shorter next week, and before we know it these things will be into flower! I can't wait to see how many flower heads I get! 😁
Attack of the deer!!! A deer really chomped through my Chocolate Mint OG 😠. It only ate the lower half thankfully but really ate everything there. I have started applying hot pepper wax to all the fan leaves now with hopes it will deter them from coming back. In reality I'm not too concerned because all of them are doing really well. Sour Blueberry is well over 7 feet, probably going to supercrop soon to at least limit height a little bit so I can set up a plastic rain cover for the fall. It's been an incredibly hot week and they've been taking about 10 gallons of water each every other day! M.O.B. might be in the early stages of flowering? Not sure yet but it is popping a lot of hairs and sunlight is decreasing each day so who knows, only time will tell. Cheers to next week!
Off to another good week. M.O.B. is definitely in early stages of flower and sunlight is about ~30 minutes less than it was a month ago. CMOG is making a comeback after being eaten and is growing back quickly. Some spots are showing up on Blue Dream, not sure what deficiency they are from, could possibly be because of the heat wave? It's been real hard keeping up with watering due to heat and lack of rain. Otherwise smooth sailing.
Short update this week, nothing major to report. Still continuing solid growth. The Blue Dream seems especially hungry so I top dressed them with earthworm compost. Veg season is starting to come to a close, anticipating 2 more weeks until flowering starts. M.O.B. is still in early flower ahead of the other ones probably because of its heavy indica genetics. Probably last week of veg. M.O.B. is transitioning into full flower mode as well as Sour Blueberry. Lots of flower heads! Blue Dream and CMOG trailing behind still popping lots of pistils. Blue Dream still struggling a bit with N deficiency, much heavier feeder than I expected 😞. Hopefully won't be a problem because of the little time left in veg. I took clones about 6 weeks ago of each of them and they've been doing excellently. Just flipped them into flower 2 weeks ago. Going to start topdressing and feeding with guano teas next week or two.
All are officially in flower, including outdoor clones of same strains I cut. Blue Dream still struggling with N deficiency, started worm teas to try to battle it. All others show no problems so far. BD is also a bit behind the others in terms of flower development, likely going to be a longer runner than the others. Lots of rain the past few weeks so they've been very happy otherwise! Cheers!
3/4 seem to be in full force flower now! Blue Dream still stretching but developing flower heads more each day. BD is easily 10ft right now, I have no idea how I'm going to manage the tops come October 😂. M.O.B. looks like its about 3 weeks into flower, ahead of the others by a decent margin. Despite being early in flower they reek for like a 30ft radius! I'm estimating about 8-10 weeks until harvest time assuming all goes well. I plan on introducing guano/tea next week.
