Welcome back for another round of homegrown fun! This grow will feature 2 quick sherbet photoperiods from exotic seeds. This strain boasts a 7 week flower time, which I will curious to see how close it is, although if its anything like my last grow with exotic it should be pretty close, with some nice looking plants, but we shall see. I gave the seeds a soak in tap water for 14 hours in a dark warm spot, then planted them directly into my 3 gallon smart pots filled with pro-mix HP. About 36 hours later, they both broke through the soil, one has a thick stem and is slightly shorter than the other, which usually means a denser plant with more indica genetics showing, but once again we shall see. Watering small amounts when dry, slowly increasing the watering diameter each time, they both are growing nicely and will continue to get nothing but ph'd water until they are around 15 days old. Temp 76f humidity 62%, I'll lower humidity once I get a good 3 nodes. Light at 30in 18/6 cycle. Thats it for now, see you all next week. Smoke em up.
Welcome to week 2. Pretty much just letting her do her thing. Giving a few ounces of water every other day, little more each time. I dropped the light to 28 inches, and fed lightly on day 11. Probably give her another feeding tonight, and then just plain water. Next week we should be getting some LST started, so until then happy growing, and happier smoking.
Welcome to week 3. Fed with runoff for the first time using 2/3 strength maxi gro. Seeing some good growth after the feeding, no signs of deficiency or excess. Plant height is looking on point for how old they are so I'm keeping the light at around 28 inches. Tomorrow will most likely be the start of some LST since they are about the right height. Thats about it for this week. Stay lit my fellow growers and happy growing.
Welcome to week 4! I began LST on day 22, bending the main stem and securing it, once the 4 secondary branches grow out I will tie them down also, which should give me a shorter wider plant. I'm feeding every other watering at .6 tsp per gallon, next feeding will be .75tsp per gallon and will remain at that amount throughout the grow, unless a deficiency or excess shows up. I'm seeing a lot of growth after the feedings, which is good because it means my feed levels are good. I will probably raise the VPD a little bit as they are 4 weeks old and can handle a little more transpiration. In a couple of days i'll tie down my other branches and remove any fan leaves that are blocking light from any bud sites. Until next week; the only thing better than frying an egg is getting baked. 😁
Welcome to week 5! I did some more LST this week on the side branches in order to keep her on the shorter side. I also periodically removed some fan leaves that were blocking light to the lower branches. I'm thinking about flipping em in a few days, that should give me a decent height without getting too close to my light. Once lights go to 12/12 I will be feeding half maxi gro and half maxi bloom during the transition weeks, and once the stretch stops I will go to all maxi bloom. Well that about does it for this week, until next time, stay lit.
Welcome to week 6! First week since going to 12/12, they are filling in nicely. I have been feeding half gro and half bloom, frequency= feed, feed, water. I left the light where it is and will let them grow slowly closer to it until I start seeing light stress. Looks like they are in the sweet zone for now, so its going to continue to be a 50/50 blend of grow and bloom until stretch has stopped. Extra calmag may be needed as flowering really gets underway, so far they have been fine with the amount they are getting from the maxigro/maxibloom. Until next week, best of luck to everyone.
Welcome to week 7! The early flower stretch is in full swing, she gained 8 inches in height in the last 7 days, I figure another 7 days or so of stretch left, but we shall see. I'm still using a 50/50 blend of maxigro and maxibloom, I'm going to feed once more with this mix then I'm going to all maxibloom for the remainder of the grow. The feed schedule and amounts I'm using seem to be right on point as the girls are looking absolutely beautiful, good color, no signs of deficiencies, no signs of overfeeding. At the end of this week I'll be cleaning up the lower branches to improve air flow, and I'll also be removing some fan leaves to allow for better light penetration. Once that is done I won't be touching her until harvest. Until next week, grab some pizza, and happy growing.
Welcome to week 8! Well the stretch is about finished, got quite a bit of stretch, most likely due to the difference in temperature between night and day. I cleaned up the bottom branches a bit and removed a good chunk of the fan leaves blocking light. So due to the increased internodal spacing and the defoliation, light is having no trouble reaching just about every bud site. So that's pretty much going to be all I will do to them until harvest, I will be sticking with my feed/feed/water schedule up until the last 2 weeks, then it will be just just ph'd water until harvest. So until next week, happy growing to you all.
Welcome to week 9! Buds have been visibly developing over the course of the week, and trichomes have been forming at a rapid pace. I'm seeing trichomes forming on the fan leaves closest to the buds, which is always a good sign, usually means some real frosty buds. So we have made it to the halfway point, give or take a week, this strain claims to have a 7 week flower time, however I highly doubt that will be the case, I'm thinking more like 8-9 weeks total flower time, but we shall see. Well that's all for this week, until next time, pass the bong like cheech and chong. Happy growing.
Welcome to week 10! Not much to report this week, buds are filling in, there are a few pistils changing on the one plant, but not many. I say with absolute certainty that these will NOT make the 7 week flower time, which is what this particular strain is supposed to be. I'm not saying its a problem, as we know advertised flower time is under optimal conditions, which can be difficult to obtain all the time for the small home grower. Overall the girls are looking alright, nice smell, good trichome production, I don't think they will be big yielders, but based on trichome production, it should be potent. Until next week, happy growing, and happy smoking.
Welcome to week 11! Well just some more of the old waiting game, buds are gaining some mass, and some purple is starting to show on a few of the main colas which is one of the traits of this particular strain. Going to say another 3 weeks minimum based on what I see. She has a nice smell, hints of lemon and pine so far. I know these mid flower weeks don't have a lot going on, just feed/feed/water, things should get a little more exciting in a couple weeks. So until next week, stay lit my friends.
Welcome to week 12! Getting close now, calyx's are swelling, getting some nice purple on the buds, trichomes changing over to cloudy. They still have a week at least, maybe 12 days, but we shall see. From here on out I will be giving them just plain ph'd water until harvest. See ya next week! Peace!
Welcome to week 13! Getting real close now, lots of purple and leaves fading nicely. Gained enough weight in the last week to start bending some of the branches over (I tied them back up). Trichomes look good, about 5% amber, I'm going to give her another 3 days or so and then chop em down after a rest in the dark. Smell is very strong in the tent, and buds are looking pretty frosty, add in the beautiful colors and I'd say this strain is looking quite good. I can't wait to take her for a test drive. Well the next entry will be the harvest once i've dried and trimmed, so mabye about 14 days, so until then Happy Growing everybody.
Well the harvest is upon us.......I went away for 5 days shortly before harvest and of course during that time a nanner appeared towards the bottom of one of the plants, there was some pollen released and some of the popcorn buds did get fertilized, I ended up with about 80 seeds out of the one plant, which isn't bad considering. Its all fine though, as I use the larf for making edibles. Ended up with 38 grams of smokable bud from the one plant and 37 from the other, for a total of 2.5 ounces. I may experiment with some of the seeds I got from this grow in the future. Overall I feel it was a good grow all things considered, and I would run this strain again. I will update in 2 weeks once I sample her. Up next will be some monster mash autos from exotic seed....stay tuned and happy growing.
UPDATE: Sampled her, still needs some more curing to mellow out, I was curing at 68 degrees, so its going a little slower, however the high is very nice, the best way to describe it is that it makes me feel like i'm drinking a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day.....relaxing, comforting, gentle, euphoric, a very nice experience. Once she mellows out from some more curing, she will certainly be in my top 5.
