Basic germination. Recommended method by Crop King Seeds. I've had nearly 100% successful germination rate this way.
14-18 hours in a cup of a spring water, followed by placing the seed in a damp paper towel. Once a taproot can be seen (2-3 days, and is 1/2 inch long) I'm ready to move the seed to a rooter plug.
Just transferred to hydroponics from the humidome.
The 1st set of "real" leaves have set in, while the 2nd is still growing. The 3rd set can be seen, but very small.
The tips were getting a tad yellow on the edge on the 1st set, so I felt it was time to transplant, and get it some nutrients rather than just water.
Day 4- the plant started to recover from the transplantation and the few mistakes I made.. on our way
Things are back on track. Good growth, and the roots are coming in nicely. I was supposed to do 45 mL of each of the first 4 nutrients, but I found that I should keep the ppm's on the lower side for another week, so 40 mL of each. Next week I'll bring it up to 100% strength on the nutrients. Near day 13, I'll top the plant and hopefully produce a bigger yield for the future.
So refilled the res tank. My calculations were off at the start. The PPM'S were a bit high, sitting at 1450. I needed them to be below 1300 as I felt the plant does better on the low side with nutrients. I raised the water level to 8 from 6 gallons and brought the PPM down to 1290.
I topped the plant. This is my first time in 6 grows, so its something new. Hopefully it works and I'm not stuck use the FIM method.
As of day 19 I took off some fan leaves. Ill slowly remove all the giant fan leaves over the course of the next week so I can get the "lollipop" effect when flowering starts.
I have a feeling this plant will end up being a beast.
Starting week 4 - (day 21) no issues, good growth. Using some low stress training to move those branches apart.
On day 22 ill defoliate the plant once again. I really want to give the plant as much time to recover as possible in between defoliation. So after tomorrow I'll defoliate every 3 days until the 2nd week of Flowering.
So after looking at the amount of nutes I was putting into the reservoir tank, I realized I was wasting alot. I filled the reservoir tank to 4-6 gallons instead of 8 and halved the nutes.
The plant is looking good, with only 2 weeks left of veg growth.
Low stress training will stop after this week. The stems seem to be far enough apart to start growing upwards, evenly.
Last week of veg. Next week the plant will be put on a 12-12 light cycle for Flowering.
Things are looking good, I've separated the stems to give lots of room for air/light and bud growth when the time comes.
I decided to show a picture of the roots. I've always had them turn brown on me and I've just chalked it up to the nutrients changing the color. The leaves are healthy and there isn't any slime in the bucket or on the roots.
I decided I would continue with one more week of veg, then turn it over to bloom.
The plant is looking healthy, its just a bit small compared to previous grows.
First week of flowering. I introduced bug ignitor this week and wow, this plant jumped in growth.
Ill slow down the defoliation now and only take off the fan leaves, leaving and future bud sites on the stems alone. Hopefully we start to develop some nice fat cola sites!
