Germinated 3 out of 3 seeds using damp paper towels between two small plates, kept in a warm place. Seeds showed taproots after 24 hours and went straight into 3 gallon pots of Biobizz Light Mix with a little plain water over the seed, I don't soak the entire pot. Seeding spots were covered with transparent plastic domes, lovingly fashioned from fizzy drinks bottles, until seedlings broke through soil the next day, then domes were removed.
I run a perpetual grow where I start seeds when the flowering plants are a few weeks away from harvest. With LST on the older plants - in this case Blueberry and White Widow - I can keep the light at a height that works well for both life stages.
Everything going smoothly, nice growth for 7 days with careful spot-watering. The Blueberry and White Widow in the back will be done by the time the new plants need more space.
Welp we have one weirdo plant, while the other two are pretty much doing the same thing/looking very similar. Weirdo twisted a little but she's sorting herself out now. I gave them all their first tiny baby feed today, moving away from biobizz nutrients, I'm trying out the Plantmagic Oldtimer range.
The Alaskans have all the light to themselves as I've harvested the old girls. I've got a small, medium, and a large thing going on, but growth is starting to explode. Literally. The large plant topped herself growing like crazy after watering, and all while I was asleep, or I might have been able to mend her if I'd caught it earlier. I guess now is as good a time as any to experiment with topping autos, and luckily the break happened before preflower.
I didn't get any photos during the week but I've been busy training away. I've got three small bushes now, and they're starting to show sex and do their stretchy thing.
Everyone is flowering now, with a really nice smell coming from them with their first resin glands. One plant needs feeding up after stretch/for flower while I'm figuring out a different nute line. Weirdo is being her weird self but at least she's flowering. I was starting to worry she was a stray photo. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how the LST went, despite the self topping incidents, I've got some nice bushy short plants. Lots of fun with this run.
Everything's getting biiiig! Still working on the mistakes made with the one plant showing yellowing leaves, but I'm not overly concerned about her as she's making nice flowers. I'm really pleased with the similar sister plant, retaining lovely colour and building up her colas. Weirdo is... something else, but hey, I'm happy to keep her running as an ugly step-sister experiment because the other two plants are so grand :) They're getting slightly different doses of feed, between 2-3ml/l, every other watering.
So I suspect the strain isn't all that stable but I'm having a fun time with the variation. They smell wonderful, very fruity, with cream and pepper, though Weirdo has stronger sweet spice scents over fruit. She might be around a lot longer than the other two to finish her run. My lil' Eldritch monstrosity :)
Water only for the faded purply gal now, the trichomes are getting cloudy and seeing more orange pistils each day, but also new ones, so she might run for another two weeks yet. The middle sister's doing her thing, taking her time, keeping her colour nicely so far on 3ml/l bloom, with 1ml/l grow every other feed for kicks, lots of nice lil buds getting nice structure in the middle there thanks to LST. Weirdo's getting 1ml/l grow each feed with 4-5ml/l grow and requires more frequent watering as it's a much larger plant in the same pot size as the others. I hope I can keep up with her insatiable hunger and finish her off nicely, she's only just starting to really pack on the flowers.
Chopped the littlest plant somewhat early, but with mostly cloudy trichs and foxtailing new growth, I'm happy to sacrifice a little bit of yield and leave the other two to go as long as possible. She's still finishing up her dry so I'll update harvest later.
The other two are chugging along, chunking up. Upped the big plant's feed again. Loving the bud structure on these, and the smell is delicious.
Buds are chunking up with two very different structures. The indica looking plant is fading fast now so I'm cutting nutes + keeping a close eye on her trichs clouding up, while the big plant is still mostly clear in the trich department, but nicely encrusted on huge calyxes, showing purple tinges. The smell is fruity and spicy.
Two down, one very odd plant to go :) I took away the string(except for the main support) after chopping the other plant to let her flop wherever she pleases, now she has space. She's on water only, trichs clouding up, and lots of purple coming in. A bit of an "oops, all foxtails" deal there but I'm digging it, very reminiscent of Dr Grinspoon strains.
First plant is dried and well into curing, smoke is <3 Pulled about 75g from plant one, some of plant two is still drying but she produced more. :) Hoping next update will be a harvest page, with yields for all three plants.
Wellp, she's just about done :) And what a funky foxtaily plant! I'll really miss looking after this one. She'll even be easy to trim :') what a lass
The purple pigments really came in over the last week but I think I'll get some two-tone buds when they're dry because of how floppy she is and how the areas directly under the light turn more purple.
Huge harvest update incoming
Geno/pheno expression was a little inconsistent under the same growing conditions, producing two short bushy plants and one lanky plant, with first and last harvest times occurring several weeks apart between expressions. The first two were more indica-looking plants(looking at other diaries they seem like more typical expressions for this strain), producing bud with denser structure invoking more of a body high, but the third plant is very sativa in physiology and effects. Third plant vegged for longer before flowering with a very pretty foxtailed structure. End product from the sativa pheno provides a hard hitting cerebral high at first, later balancing with some body relaxation, congruent with the first two indica plants but with less intensity. The third plant is definitely my favourite, for an interesting grow, easy harvest(not much leaf matter), and a practical all-day high from the end product. The other plants were harder to trim and produced a body high typical of other indica-dominant varieties. All plants have a fruity, peppery flavour, and yielded 75g, 175g, and 200g dry, from first to last harvest. So I lucked out here and ended up with a pile of fantastic, practical day smoke from the one plant, as well as a relaxing evening smoke for winding right down at the end of the day from the other plants.
