A new grow (yea!), 10 days old since seed in a larger tent in the basement, main concern being the cold over winter months. With the lamp running 24 the first week temperature was maintained around 25 dipping not below 17, adjusted today to 18/6, off during the day. A baby plant has got to sleep too! Being really careful with watering and only issue so far are two sets of discolored and raggedy leaves on 2 of the 6 I’d say from water on the young leaves plus burned by the lamp intensity. I figure LEDs were a wee bit too close this last week and as a result their looking pretty squat probably trying to get away from that 24 hour light intensity. Should bounce back fine now. I’ve just transplanted them to 4 gallon cloth pots that they were previously sitting on in small plastic cups. I want to let these six feminized WW grow really large fully using the size of the tent, something I haven’t done before due to needs to harvest sooner. If I can stretch out my current harvest I might be able to let these veg for 7-8 weeks for something really significant and fun. Flowering is supposed to be long on these WW so maybe 4 long veg trees growing in basement and 2 shorter grow in small tent upstairs. Final decision on set up/number of WWs to follow. Thanks so much for reading! Your advice and comments are always welcome. I like looking at your grows for inspiration and nothing has been better during this pandemic. Be safe and happy.

Welcome! I think today is the day we firmly move from Seedling to healthy and strong Vegging plants, 3 full weeks in and surprisingly full. They were just topped and trained but no nutrients added so far, still looking good from initial biobizz soil. Perhaps first supplements from later this week. Running a 20/4 cycle due to low night temperatures so need to keep temps up with light heat. I hope these will grow nice and big as usually I have to keep a short veg due to lack of supply. Ideally I’d like to see these grow big. I’m eager to see how these WWS will turn out. I will also try to limit defoliation which I tend to overdo. Thanks for reading!

The story of growing these six now teenagers in an overly cold & humid basement continues this week to some satisfaction playing with the variables like light cycle on at night for a decent temp range of between 18 to 25. It’s starting to warm up anyways. Humidity is running really high especially after their pH adjusted watering so turned on the exhaust fan on low this morning for some air flow. They got GHE nutrients at half dose for the first time this week on a once a week cycle plus some eggshells added for calcium. Otherwise resisting the urge to put them in flower for some supply continuity but also want these to grow big for once loving ,many of the serious grows on here.. That’d mean another 4 weeks in veg for sure. Let’s see. Bonus pic of cat in a laundry basket included. In the meantime thanks for stopping by and reading!

These plants are not loving the cold. The 20 hour day keeps it above 20-21 degrees c but just those four hours of dark brings it down pretty quick. Not sure how I’m going to do flowering without the support of the lamp heat. Keeping my eye on humidity and light distance, training helped through trellis. Quite love this phase for the daily TLC to find a shape before flowering. One of the six is growing incredibly slow and the other five with different degrees of growth reacting to the cold. Another of the five has really strange leaf growth perhaps something just genetic. Still looking generally green and the next half to full week should be pretty determinate. I’d probably put in flower next weekend bringing a heater down if necessary. Feeding is once per week with occasional supplements like coffee grounds this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Having a space heater on very low this week was key to kicking them back into some sort of growth. This was particularly important with the switch to flower at the very start of this week. Being really careful on the watering and keeping nutrients to once a week with half of the official GHE recommended amounts. All are still looking green but due to cold, Two in particular are weaker and on the stringier your side, stems looking more like basil than cannabis! Oh well, yet another learning lesson, this time on temperature and the extreme lower limits. It was the wrong time to switch to LEDs to grow in the winter when I could’ve use that extra heat!I’m happy with how green they are (I’m an amateur having started only at the beginning of this pandemic and the little things count for a lot) and I’m looking forward to moving into the second week of flowering using the trellis to best expose the branches, some of them obviously in wretched shape after those temperatures of 13 or 14° C a couple of nights. I’ve got to master the cycles a little bit better and the availability of the different tents. Let me just say that the next two weeks are my favorite in the entire grow with being able to manipulate during the stretch all of the branches through the trellis to give a maximum off exposure, setting up the future of the whole grow. That’s pretty exciting! With a lot of tensions at home at the moment like probably all of us it’s giving me a really healthy distraction. Thank you for stopping by and reading!

They’re holding together through early flower, constant attention to temperature through a tiny space heater. It’s not entirely sure i’ll be getting much from the six due to temperatures dipping quite low in the earlier growth phases. GHE nutrients about once a week otherwise ph adjusted watering every other day. A number of leaves removed this week as indeed lower parts too shaded a bit. I’ll try to avoid excess in defoliation for once. I also lowered the LED two manufacturers reco of 40 cms. Leaves remain quite green for now which is always a pleasure even if you out of the six are just weak overall. Surprisingly a very low level of stretch so far but we’re just entering the third week. I’m eager to see what happens over this week! Bonus pics of a sleeping cat and eggplants sharing the tent, red peppers seedlings to join over next month as the 6 sisters will reach their final flowering weeks. Thank you for reading!

Unfortunately the worst grow I’ve had so far due to cold temperatures. I added a small space heater a couple weeks ago but still can’t seem to regulate the temperature. Disappointing to see them so weak, stems often purple and really short overall. It’s not at all clear that the six are going to produce anything of consequence. Anyway in terms of care, they’re getting fed once a week and pH adjusted watering the rest of the time, about every other day. Some leaves are turning yellow and some with splotches. Looking up online it would appear to be a calcium deficiency but that doesn’t really seem likely. I think it’s the cold. Giving them TLC through all of this, daily care and special attention to over/under watering. Not sure why two out of the six in particular are so droopy. I’ll chalk this up to the cold too. If I grow in the winter I’m gonna have to master this temperature in the basement question. For now, I’ll just keep on with the six & see what cannabis plants growing at 16-18° end up looking like. Growing some eggplant in the tent after germination upstairs so that’s pretty exciting. Peppers to follow by the time this poor grow is done. Thank you for reading!

Already a week gone by and it looks like something like a stretch happened at least with a few of them. They’re now cohabitating with egg plant seedlings and soon peppers. Given that grow was smaller than expected, two in particular really stout and bushy, it’s nice to use the space well before the spring. They’re getting the same treatment as before, GHE nutrients at half dose once a week and ph adjusted watering every other day. Temperature seems to be closer to 20 with the little space heater and lamps running at night, which might account for the little bit of stretch boost I’ve seen. It’s not going to be a huge harvest so I’m already thinking about some autos for late spring but not without some continued TLC to see if the 6 WW “supremes” until the end. Good luck with your grows and thank you for stopping by and reading!

Continued care and monitoring of the sisters. Hard to see how they’re going to make it through these last three weeks with the state of the leaves. Keeping hopeful for a really modest harvest of these WWs despite a challenging winter grow. Temp staying around 18° to 21° They’re getting fed once a week with ghe half dose and pH adjusted water every other day otherwise. As you can see the sisters are growing next to eggplant and now peppers as of the last two weeks. That’s kind of fun to really use this tent to get ready for the spring. Looking about 2 to 3 weeks away now from harvest, not the prettiest grow I’ve seen but a huge learning lesson in temperature management. It’s funny, some are so shrubby they barely make use of the scrog trellis where other ones are clearly delineated branches and somewhat normal for the number of weeks. Wishing you all the best with your grows. Thank you for reading exclamation

Ladies are looking great! Curious as to your LST technique. Feel like I might be over doing it.

@Superjd, I’ve warned against topping autos. So jumped straight into LST. Have you found any issues related to recovery?
Superjd
Superjdcommented4 years ago
@NomadGrowDad, Thanks! Not sure mine are a model. Indeed LST is pretty simple on these: after topping, tie down main stalk for max light penetration all around. Threw up the SCROG today for further exposure still in this early phase. Yours are incredibly well done. Happy Growing - I'll check out your grow now. Take care!
