Easy peasy week for the seedlings. I transplanted all 3 plants into their net pots at the start of this week, on day 8 from seed. I gave them a light dose of nutes and started the plants on CalMag out of the gate - I've had calcium deficiency issues at the beginning of many of my grows in the past so I'm hoping to skip that unpleasentness this time around. I've been doing top feedings through the week and roots have now broken through the nets on all plants so we should be off to the races. A few observations about each of the gals:
Livers BX1
----------
The strongest of the 3 plants out of the gate and the first to root through her pete plug and her net pot. She's on her own in my small, very dry tent. RH is insanely low and my only humidifier is currently employed in the other tent. Be that as it may, I've been cautiously spritzing her with a spray bottle periodically and she seems to be doing quite well.
Critical Kush
-------------
Frankly this girl is looking kind of janky. Her leaves are oddly shaped and look quite gnarly. Who am I to judge? Maybe this ugly duckling will flourish. (She better! That's her job!)
Pink Kush
----------
Being the only plant of the 3 who's roots didn't break through the pete plug when I transplanted to the net pots, I was slightly concerned about her future. Fears alleviated. She's rooted through the net pot and looking good.
Thanks for tuning in βοΈ
Good luck figuring out your issue. Don't take this as fact lol, but here is what I think is happening and how I would fix it. It almost looks like a Calcium and Phosphorus issue
P messes up a lot of micros absorption (Calcium, mag, FE) and sometimes show deficiencies together. I would do a res change and bump up the P/K and cal-mag slightly, but I would prob feed EC 1.2 and see how she does from there.
Let me know how if you figure it out or how you fix it. π
@Oozle, Wise words. We don't learn how to deal the curve balls unless they're thrown our way. As, you say, at the end of the day it's about the smoke and I think the Livers will be a nice oneπ¨ I appreciate all of your support βοΈ
@StunFlower, bro, she might not be picture perfect, but if she smells good, tastes good, and smokes good, then cheers! I think she still looks fine.. a little messed up, but the buds look great.
I did a reservoir change on the bakers to try and figure it out. All these plants are like a puzzle we are trying to figure out what they want and when they want.. DWC has very little buffer for error.
@Oozle, I very much appreciate your adviceπ After reading your recent post re: your Bakers Delight I'm wondering if light stress isn't a contributing factor to the Liver's woes as well - the light was about 15" above the canopy. I've just raised it to 20". Sadly, the poor plant is looking so stressed now that I don't know that I'll see any significant improvement at this point. If only she looked as good as she smells! Guess I'll have to take my lumps with this run and hope to do better the next time I grow this strain.
@MrGreenFingers, Yes, for now my smaller tent seems to be designated for autos. I had originally intended to use it for vegging but so far that hasn't been the case. I feel fortunate to have scored a few strains from Mephisto - I just happened to catch one of their store openings at the right time. I'm excited to see what develops!
@StunFlower, ah gotcha! I did a sour orange livers a few years back, so have you got a tent for autos and a tent for photos now? Mephisto is great but always out of stock!
I've got a cheap humidifier hooked up to a inkbird controller. It's set up outside of the tents. Keeps the humidity decent. Just have to make sure your room has good airflow, otherwise mildew is imminent.
@MountainMatt, It's an ultrasonic humidifier - I found out the hard way if you use plain tap water the minerals in the water are expelled from the humidifier as fine white dust. It completely clogged my carbon filter within about a week. Hence, the distilled water.
@MountainMatt, I have a small humidifier running (periodically) inside my bigger tent but I really need to find a more sustainable source of distilled water to keep it running. Despite the dry conditions, all plants seem to be doing o.k. at the moment.
Wow, I didn't think the Crit Kush looked that small until I saw that side by side comparison with the Pink Kush. Your roots are super white as always! π
@Oozle, The growth of the Critical Kush really stunted when she was having her issues but the Pink Kush is growing like a beast. Must be those strong @ Barneys genetics πͺ My plants' roots seem to have started getting super white once I started using Diamond Nectar.
Stinks how low your humidity is.
Look on the bright side, at least you figured out 1.6 was too much for your plants at this stage lol. I am always trying to find the limits haha.
Good luck next week.
