Finally got a chance to crack another batch of magic beans and am stoked to be growing three new strains. I'm going to track everything in a single diary to keep things easy for everybody - especially for me 😃
In my larger tent (40" x 40" x 80'), I'll be going with a Kush theme, growing Critical Kush from my local Niagara Seed Bank and Pink Kush from Barney's Farm. Pink Kush has long been one of my favourite strains and I'm really excited to try my hand at growing her.
Compulsory strain summaries below:
Critical Kush
-------------
Genetics: Critical Mass x OG Kush
Variety: Mostly Indica
Sex: Feminised
THC Content: 25%
CBD Content: 1.8%
Flowering Time: 55 – 60 days
Pink Kush
----------
This stunning and highly regarded relative of OG Kush visually defies reality with her breathtaking pink and purple hues. Her flowers are dense and shimmer in the light with glistening trichomes.
Flowering Time (days): 55 – 65
Indica %: 100%
I'm going with an auto flowering strain in my small tent (32 x 32 x 60), Livers BX1 from Mephisto Genetics. Despite a pretty off-putting name, I'm really intrigued by this strain. A few 'select' notes from the breeder below. I say select, because every seed in the Mephisto catalogue has an origin story. The snippet below is just part of the Livers story. Their catalogue is definitely worth perusing. 👌
Livers BX1
-----------
Genetic Heritage - Auto Livers x Livers
(Auto Livers = Livers x Auto Blues)
(Auto Blues = Sheffield Blues x Purple Indica Auto)
Seed Type: F4 Feminised Automatic
Indica/Sativa - perfect 50/50 hybrid. Strong Sativa highs and strong Indica stone.
Cycle Time - 65 - 75 days sprout to harvest
This strain is very strong and is definitely for the seasoned smoker. On testing this strain, the THC content has always been lower than expected. On average it was between 15% and 19% THC. However, do not be fooled by these numbers the cannabis is very strong with an intense effect. This goes to show that the cannabinoids present in this strain are very complex.
The taste is an intense spicy cheese with a cool watermelon aftertaste which is immensely morish. The aroma is a strong skunk smell. Sweet burning tire smell that lingers in the air.
Hoping for a smooth, equipment-failure-free run 🤞 What a nice refreshing change that would be 😂
Easy peasy week for the seedlings. I transplanted all 3 plants into their net pots at the start of this week, on day 8 from seed. I gave them a light dose of nutes and started the plants on CalMag out of the gate - I've had calcium deficiency issues at the beginning of many of my grows in the past so I'm hoping to skip that unpleasentness this time around. I've been doing top feedings through the week and roots have now broken through the nets on all plants so we should be off to the races. A few observations about each of the gals:
Livers BX1
----------
The strongest of the 3 plants out of the gate and the first to root through her pete plug and her net pot. She's on her own in my small, very dry tent. RH is insanely low and my only humidifier is currently employed in the other tent. Be that as it may, I've been cautiously spritzing her with a spray bottle periodically and she seems to be doing quite well.
Critical Kush
-------------
Frankly this girl is looking kind of janky. Her leaves are oddly shaped and look quite gnarly. Who am I to judge? Maybe this ugly duckling will flourish. (She better! That's her job!)
Pink Kush
----------
Being the only plant of the 3 who's roots didn't break through the pete plug when I transplanted to the net pots, I was slightly concerned about her future. Fears alleviated. She's rooted through the net pot and looking good.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Solid week for all concerned in my Livers & Kush project. Low humidity is the biggest issue in the tents right now, but not causing any major issues. All plants are developing nice, strong root systems and leaves have entered that pre-Jurassic period of DWC vegetation before things start to explode. Rez change today with a slight increase in feed. The Kush plants are getting about 2/3 of what GH suggests on their feed chart; the Livers is getting about 1/2 dose.
Livers BX1
-----------
She was the thirstiest of the plants over the past week for sure - she's also growing with the most gusto. She slurped up about 1/2 gallon of water after about four days this week - the Kush plants were sipping water comparatively. She's looking great. Super excited about this one.
Pink Kush
----------
No issues. Growing fine.
Critical Kush
-------------
She seems to have gotten past whatever the heck was going on with her gnarly leaves and is off to the races. She's looking like a proper lady now. 😍
Until next week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Kind of a mixed bag this week with the Livers & Kush project. We'll start with the good.
Livers BX1
----------
The Livers is doing well in the dry desert like air of my auto tent. She maintained a pretty steady PH throughout the week, around 6.1, and had some solid growth. She's getting a modest feeding at this point, maintaining an EC of about .8. I'll start increasing her feedings through the week. Because my LST efforts are hit ad miss, I decided to FIM her yesterday on D27 with plans to get her into the ScrOG net and spread her out once she starts flowering in the next week or two.
Critical Kush
-------------
Rough week for the Critical Kush. I realized after a day or so that the mix of nutes I fed both Kush plants at the beginning of last week was much too strong at around 1.6 and both plants started displaying early signs of nitrogen toxicity - dark leaves, some clawing, etc. 🤦♂️ I caught it early on and diluted the feed to an EC of .8. Although the Pink Kush responded quickly and seemed to be set right, the Critical Kush looked critically ill. Growth was stunted and her leaves were limp and turned downward and her roots, dirty and sparse. I've noticed her nodes are spaced really tightly together too - if that's an indication of anything or not.
I ended up giving her a 24 hour plain water flush and then gave her a fresh rez tuned to .8 EC. I also cut away the lower leaves that were discoloured and spotty. She seems to have improved somewhat but I'll just have to wait and see. Her symptoms could also point to a boron deficiency which can be triggered by low humidity - and boy do I have low humidity. We'll generously say it's about 20% RH in the tents these days. Hopefully, she'll bounce back. If not, the Pink Kush is going to have a lot of room to spread her wings.
Pink Kush
----------
Same story as the Critical Kush but with a happier ending. Caught the overfeeding issue early on and she recovered nicely showing a solid week of growth. I FIMed her yesterday on D27 and cleaned up a couple of the lower nodes. I'm trying to get better at managing both sides of the canopy this time around so I'm doing some early maintenance.
That's a wrap on this week's adventures. Hopefully next week's update is more triumph, less tragedy 🎭
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
A good week of vegetation for all concerned and thrilled to report the Critical Kush seems to have bounced back from her earlier issues. A really easy week for me, maintenance wise. I love that!
Livers BX1
-----------
The Livers is doing really well. She's about 9" tall now and filling out nicely. She seems to be no worse for wear after being topped last week. (I actually meant to FIM her but I pinched too much. Damn my giant mitts 😅) She's showing signs of pre-flower now and should be transitioning any day now. She was super stable and feeding well through the week - PH right around 6 and her EC was running around .8 (400-450 PPM). Rez change today with a bump in nutes. EC is around 1.1 now.
Critical Kush
------------
The Critical Kush has rebounded and is looking much better than she did, from the top of the plant down to her roots. She still looks quite small compared to the Pink Kush next to her but we'll see if she can catch up. I FIMed her on D30 and pruned the lower nodes - she didn't seem to mind at all. She's about 7" tall now. I've upped her feed gradually through the week - from EC .7 to .8 (350-400 PPM) and upped it again with the rez change today. I'll keep a close eye on her - we know how sensitive she can be 😉
Pink Kush
----------
Pinky is becoming quite the beast. Her leaves are massive, stems are thick, and at 9.5" she's the tallest of the crop. She fed well through the week and maintained stable PH levels. Her EC was running around .8 throughout the week. Like the other girls, got a rez change today with a bump in feed - EC 1.2 (600 PPM). I would typically flip my lights around now but I'll see if the Critical Kush can play a little catchup over the next week or so before I change the schedule.
Hoping for another week of trouble-free and healthy growth 🤞
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Day 42 from seed for the ladies. A whole bunch of growing going on and appetites are increasing. Flipped the light schedule to 12/12 in the Kush tent today - the Livers in the auto tent will stay at 18/6. Time to make some flowers.
Livers BX1
-----------
The Livers had a great week - she's officially gone into flower and responded to last week's increase in feed very well. She's been drinking about 2 litres/day and I've been maintaining her EC at around 1.2 (600 PPM). I trimmed away a few new bud sites from the bottom branches and did a little clean up earlier in the week. I'll let her stretch out a bit more before wrestling her into the ScrOG net - perhaps later this week. She's about 14" tall currently.
Critical Kush
------------
The Critter is the runt of the litter at 11" tall. She did not take kindly to last week's increase in feed with her PH plummeting and PPMs spiking within 24 hours of the nute boost. I diluted her mix and took her down to a more comfortable level at an EC of .8-.9 (400-450 PPM). I gave her a little bump today to 500 PPM - I think she'll be ok with it, but she'll let me know if not. 😡
Pink Kush
----------
Pinky has been of the feed-me-more mentality of late, drinking on average about 3 litres/day. Her EC has been sitting around 1.2 and has been her sweet spot. I'll be bumping that up slightly as we transition to flower. She's 17" tall now and rounding out nicely.
The ScrOG net will be making its appearance in the tent soon and it looks like I'll have to get a booster seat for the Critical Kush to even out the top of the canopy.
Looking forward to flower season. Let the stretch begin!
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Another solid, trouble-free week for my Livers & Kush project. Here we are at day 49 from seed and at the end of the first full week under 12/12 light for the ladies in the photoperiod tent. All plants were twisted into submission and wrestled into the ScrOG net 2 days ago on D47.
Livers BX1 (auto)
-----------------
The Livers is looking great and certainly showing her Sativa side as this lovely hybrid enters flowering and begins her stretch. Put her into the ScrOG net 2 days ago with no issues; she was a very willing participant. Tons of pistils popping as she continues to transition through the stretch and she's already starting to get a little stinky. She's been comfortable with her EC has been running in the 1.2-1.3 range (600-650 PPM) over the past week and her PH has been between 6-6.2. She's got a pretty decent appetite. She gets topped with about 2 litres water/nutes daily. This lady will stay under 18/6 lights for the duration of the grow. I'm really impressed with how vigorously she's growing. She's responded so well to being topped that I now wonder why I've treated auto flowers with such reverence previously. ✂️
Critical Kush
--------------
Prior to putting her into the ScrOG, I had to raise the Critter's bucket off the floor about 5" so her canopy would be even with the Pink Kush that's in the tent beside her. She's growing very well now and her appetite for nutes is increasing and on par with the rest of the crew now. Her EC has was running at 1.1 (550 PPMs) earlier in the week and I've increased that to 1.3 range (650 PPM). Her PH has floated between 6 - 6.5 through the week. She typically takes in 1-2 litres daily top-ups. I was seriously debating evicting the Critter from the tent a couple of weeks ago but she's starting to look pretty nice.
Pink Kush
----------
It took a bit of work to get Pinky into the ScrOG as her branches are quite thick but I got the job done after some careful pinching and squeezing. She's been getting a slightly higher dose of nutes than my other two plants her EC is running between 1.3-1.4 (650-680 PMM). Like the Livers, she gets topped with about 2 litres water/nutes daily. Grow Pinky, grow!
That's a wrap for this week. Thanks for tuning in. ✌️
A good week for the Livers and Kush. All plants have settled nicely into the ScrOG and the Kush plants have entered pre-flower with pistils about to pop. Some modest stretching at this point. Nothing crazy in either tent.
Livers BX1
------------
The Livers is looking lovely. She's taken to the ScrOG really well and has a nice even canopy with lots of tops. She can be super thirsty, up to a gallon of water with nutes daily. i upped her feed and her EC jumped to about 1.6 towards the end of the week so I lowered that to about 1.5 today as she's happier in that range. She's a compact 15" tall.
Critical Kush
-------------
The Critter is doing very well. She consumes the least water of my three plants - typically only about 1 litre/day - but she is feeding the most. Her EC was around 1.2 (620 PPM) at the start of the week and that fell to 1 by mid week. She was the only plant to get a rez change this week and her rez is now at about 1.4 EC (700 PPM). She's 16" tall.
Pink Kush
----------
Nothing to complain about here. Pinky is growing well. She gets topped up with about 2 litres water/nutes daily. Her EC has been 1.4-1.5 (700-750 PPM). Did some modest defoliation this week - picked two or three leaves that were eclipsing bud sites - and trimmed some new growth beneath the canopy. Pinky is now 21" tall.
That's a wrap for this week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Some challenges this week with the Livers & Kush project. The Kush plants are doing fine, but, alas, the Livers is having issues.
Livers BX1
------------
Height: 15"
Feed: EC 1.3 (660 PPM)
Something is going on with this girl. Some of her leaves have started getting rusty - very rusty - and it looks to me like she may have a magnesium deficiency. PH has had some swings but been in range. I thought maybe it was a buildup of salts/etc. as I hadn't changed her rez in about 15 days; PPM readings kept rising despite making adjustments during the latter part of that period. Readings have been much better following a rez change a few days ago but the problem still seems to be spreading. I looked at the breeders notes and noticed it mentioniing she likes more magnesium during flower so perhaps I need to kick up the CaliMAGic significantly. If any of you cagey growers reading this have thoughts to share about this, I'd love to hear them. Despite the leaf issues, her buds have stacked up nice and starting to get more plump.
Critical Kush
------------
Height: 21"
Feed: EC 1.3 (670 PPM)
The Critter is doing great. She's entered full on flower and grew another 5" this week during the stretch. No issues with her at all. Pruned some new growth from beneath the canopy in attempt to keep things more tidy this time around.
Pink Kush
----------
Height: 26"
Feed: EC 1.3 (650 PPM)
Pinky is doing just fine. Like the Livers, she hadn't had a rez change in quite a while - about 15 days - and her PPM readings kept rising - up to near 800 at one point. After a rez change, however, readings were much improved. Like the Critter, she got some branch maintenance and a little cleanup of the new growth.
That's it for this week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Still very much a tale of two tents. The house of Kush is looking lush while things in the land of Livers are looking a little gloomy.
Livers BX1
-----------
Height: 21"
Feed: EC 1.2 (630 PPM)
PH 5.4 - 6.4
Still having a bit of a hard time getting this girl under control but I think (hope) things are heading in the right direction. Sadly, more leaves are bearing the scars of whatever issues/deficiencies have been plaguing her. I gave her a rez change early last week, increasing the P/K and CalMag feeding to EC 1.2, following the sage advice of @Oozlefinch. She responded really well initially, but her PPM readings began trending upwards again (EC 1.4) with subsequent readings. I decided to give her a 24 hour flush yesterday and changed her rez today, feeding at EC 1.2. On the good side, buds are swelling and getting sticky.
Pink Kush
----------
Height: 29"
Feed: EC 1.2-1.3 (610-660 PPM)
PH 4.8 - 6.2
No big issues to report in the Kush tent. Pinky is looking swell and frost is already starting to gather on her bud tops. There was one day when her PH dropped unexpectedly despite the fact there was no corresponding jump in her EC readings as is typically the case. She got a rez change yesterday and seems to be in a good place.
Critical Kush
-------------
Height: 24"
Feed: EC 1.3-1.4 (640-690 PPM)
PH 5.4 - 6.2
Like her tent mate, Pinky, the Critter is doing great. Her flowers are forming like big old pom-poms - GO TEAM KUSH! She got a rez change yesterday as well. Plucked a few fan leaves that were blocking some bud sites and trimmed off a few more wannabe branches from beneath the canopy.
That's a wrap for this week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Not a bad week for the Livers and Kush. The Livers is getting ripe and nearing the end of her days while things in the Kush tent are getting frosty.
Livers BX1
-----------
Height: 21"
EC 1.2 - 1.4
PH 5.8-6.7
This girl drinks about a gallon/day but doesn't feed all that much. She still seems happiest when her EC readings are around 1.2 (620 PPM). A couple of more weeks until harvest, her buds continue to plump up and things in the tent are smelling quite pungent. When you brush against her you get the scent of strong cheese with a sweet, candy fruitiness - kind of like sour Jolly Ranchers. Me thinks she will be quite tasty.
Critical Kush
-------------
Height: 26"
EC 1.2 - 1.3
PH 5.8 - 6.3
The Critter is definitely the most stable girl in the current run. Drinks about 1-2 litres day and maintains pretty consistent readings. Her buds are forming beautifully and there is a nice layer of frost setting in. Doing my best to keep things tidy and cut out a couple of more wanna be branches from beneath the canopy.
Pink Kush
-----------
Height: 31"
EC 1.2 - 1.5
PH 5.8 - 6.5
Pinky is doing great. She grew another couple of inches since last week but I think that's likely it for the stretch. Her EC readings were trending up during the week but she seems to have calmed down since her rez change yesterday. Like the Critical Kush, she's got a nice layer of frost settling in on the buds. She doesn't seem to be as branchy or have as much undergrowth as the Critical Kush so I've had to do very little canopy maintenance other than plucking a leaf or two from the top to better expose a few bud sites to the light.
That's all to report for this week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Things are progressing quite nicely in both tents. The Livers is ripening up and close to harvest while things in the Kush tent are starting to get sticky. Seems that all of the plants do most of their feeding on rez change days and not so much during the rest of the week. Curious 🤔
Livers BX1
----------
Height: 21"
EC 1.1 - 1.5
PH 5.5-6.3
Plants like this is the reason carbon filters were invented. She is dank. Although bearing the battle scars of her former deficiency, I think she's looking quite nice. Buds are fattening up nicely in her final days. Most trichomes on the plant are cloudy now. Once I start seeing a bit of amber I'l begin the flush. Really looking forward to giving her a taste.
Critical Kush
------------
Height: 26"
EC 1.1 - 1.3
PH 5.0 - 6.4
The Critter's buds continue to get fat and frosty. Brushed against her the other day and was quite surprised how sticky she was - quite piney. I'm quite impressed with how the Critter has performed given the trouble she gave me in her early days.
Pink Kush
----------
Height: 31"
EC 1.1 - 1.5
PH 5.7 - 6.3
Pinky is looking lovely. There are some nice stacks forming beneath that canopy and the snow continues to settle upon her buds - so frosty. Her leaves are developing a lovely purple hue which I sure hope is a trait of the plant and not sign of a phosphorus deficiency🤞She still seems most comfortable being fed with EC readings around 1.2 (600 PPM). Readings spiked towards the end of the week (EC 1.5 - 760 PPM) but settled down once I gave her a rez change.
That's all there is to tell this week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Another week down. Fattening and frosting were the dominant themes this week.
Livers BX1
----------
Height: 21"
EC .8 - 1.3
PH 4.4 - 6.3
The buds on the Livers continue to swell impressively during her final days. It looks like a miniature Christmas tree farm in the tent 🌲 She had a pretty dramatic PH drop a few days ago but I've been lowering her feed since and readings have been more stable. She continues to drink like a sponge - consuming nearly a gallon/day. Still no sign of amber but trichs are almost all cloudy now; shouldn't be long until harvest. She's super pungent - her smell punches you in the face upon opening the tent🥊 I think she's definitely the stinkiest plant I've grown to date 😍
Critical Kush
------------
Height: 26"
EC 1.0 - 1.3
PH 5.9 - 6.4
The Critter is looking and smelling fantastic. Her buds are packing on mass and are wonderfully frosty. Her smell is getting stronger and more enticing - pine and sweet fruit candy.
Pink Kush
----------
Height: 31"
EC 1.1 - 1.5
PH 5.4 - 6.5
Pinky is shaping up for a great finish. She's got some nice frosty stacks forming with lovely pink and purple hues beginning to show in her buds.
That's a wrap for this week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Good week for all the ladies. It's end of days for the Livers and colours are changing in the Kush tent.
Livers BX1
-----------
I thought this girl would be done by now but here we are. I was perusing the grow guide I found on the Mephisto website today, and I was surprised to learn that autoflowers take a couple of weeks longer to finish when grown in DWC. Who knew? She's pretty ripe now; pungent AF - cheesy with sweet and sour fruity notes. I'm super impressed with the size of her buds. And just when I thought they can't get any bigger, they get bigger! Finally a bit of amber starting to show so I switched her over to plain water yesterday with some FloraKleen added into the mix. I'll let her fade into the sunset will take her down once I see a bit more amber.
Critical Kush
-------------
The Critter is going through some nice little colour changes as she nears the end of her cycle. Her buds are thick and frosty with lots of red hairs. Still some ripening to do beneath the canopy; I'm thinking maybe two more weeks until harvest. Did a little defoliation this week to get more light to the lower bud sites and broke out the yoyo's to bring some of the leaning bud sites at the back into a more upright position. She's extremely sticky - brushing against her she has a strong scent of pine and sweet berries.
Pink Kush
----------
Beautiful colours setting in on Pinky's frosty buds. Like the Critter, her stacks have got some ripening up to do but she's in the finishing stages. Her buds seems like they'll be super dense. Her fragrance is very subtle when compared to the Critter or the terp monster in the other tent - hints of pine and vanilla. Some defoliation for Pinky this week as well - just trying to open up those stacks to more light.
Very much looking forward to this harvest. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
One down, two to go. It was harvest week for the Livers and the Kush plants are pushing towards the finish.
Livers BX1
-----------
Harvested the Livers yesterday on D97 from sprout. Breeders notes called for 65-70 day finish from sprout but as I mentioned last week, I just learned that autos in DWC take a couple of weeks longer. Honestly, I probably could have let her go another week - there was a smattering of amber trichs but not as many as I'd like to have seen. Anyway, I grew impatient and it will soon be time to start germinating the summer crops so I chopped her down. She's hanging to dry now. I'll be back with the weigh-in results and preliminary smoke report next week.
Critical Kush
-------------
The Critter is a happy lady. She's getting more ripe and putting on weight. Her EC readings have been super steady 1.2 (600-620 PPM) and her PH has been sitting right between 5.9 - 6.2. Not a heavy drinker, she typically doesn't drink much more than a litre/day. Her tops are getting very ripe. Stuff below the canopy still has a way to go. I think maybe two more weeks for her and Pinky.
Pink Kush
-----------
Pinky is looking beautiful and has some nice long legs. I'm seeing actual pink on some of the lower buds which is kind of cool. Pinky fluctuates more than the Critter. Her EC readings range between 1.2 - 1.4 but her PH doesn't swing that much; 5.8 - 6.1. Just a waiting game now - fatten up Pinky!
Until next week. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Livers was really fun to grow and ended up producing some pretty fat, spectacular buds. Along with the 160 grams of dried bud I harvested, I got another 130 grams of larf that will be used for bubble hash or tossed in the butter machine. Nearly 300 grams of usable product - not too shabby 😃
She grew pretty vigorously out of the gate. I should have given her more bloom nutrients earlier on as she ended up with P deficiency. Although I caught it a bit too late for my liking, she bounced back like a champ.
This was the first auto I attempted any sort of HST techniques with and it really paid off. I FIMed her in week 4 and super-cropped much of the plant when I put her into the ScrOG in week 6. She responded really well and developed some thick, lovely stacks. The next autos I grow are in for the same rough treatment me thinks 👊
That's a wrap for this grow. New diaries spinning up soon. Stay tuned ✌️
Final days in the Kush tent. Just waiting for things to finish ripening up. The Critter is very close to the end and Pinky isn't far behind. The tent smells DANK.
Critical Kush
--------------
The bigger buds on the Critter were starting to show a fair bit of amber so I decided to do a partial harvest since there is still a good amount of bud beneath the canopy that has some ripening to do. Cut a few of the ripest, tallest tops and put them in the 2x2 to dry. With the height of the canopy reduced, I lowered the lights about 4-5" and am hoping I can get squeeze a bit more quality out from the lower bud sites. 🤞
Pink Kush
----------
Pinky is a tad behind the Critical Kush but not too far. Like the Critter, I'll likely harvest the ripest tops first and lower the lights to fatten up some of the lower bud sites before finishing her off.
Very excited for the harvest to come.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
And then there was one.
I harvested the last part of the Critical Kush yesterday on day 76 of flower. I took her down in 3 stages to allow the lower bud sites to ripen. It worked out pretty well. Full harvest report to come.
Pinky has the whole tent to herself now. She continues to ripen; taunting me with her skunky scents of pine and vanilla. I can't wait. But I must.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Critter had some issues early on and I was tempted to purge her from the tent at one point as she was developing much more slowly than the Pink Kush growing next to her. I'm glad I kept her around. She ended up recovering from whatever was ailing her and ended up producing the tightest, stickiest buds I've grown to date. Once she got going, she was the easiest of the 3 plants in this run to maintain - her EC and PH readings were incredibly stable throughout the grow.
This was the first time I harvested a plant in stages and it was pretty successful for the most part. Her tops were quite ripe but the stuff beneath still had a ways to go so I decided to cut the tops and wait a few more days before harvesting the next section. After about 3 days I harvested the middle section (noticeably riper), leaving just a bit of some of the more larfy stuff near the bottom of the plant; I took the rest of it down a couple of days later (a little more ripe but still larfy).
The finish line is finally in site. Starting to see some amber on the tops and trichs are mostly cloudy throughout the plant now. She smells like a skunk that's taken a roll in a rose garden.
One of my favourite strains, this grow was largely successful albeit slightly disappointing - I was hoping for a slightly larger harvest. I suspect I was a bit heavy handed with my defoliation efforts late in flower that may have affected the final yield. The buds actually ended up being quite small (especially compared to the Livers and Critical Kush) and trimming was labor intensive - lot's of little crows feet to deal with. The quality of the top buds is quite nice, tight and sticky but much of the lower bud could have benefited from further ripening; there was a little more larf than I would have liked. This plant was a long finisher and it still probably could have used another week or two. Patience is required.
Pink Kush is definitely on my grow again list. I feel like I could make a better go of it next time.
That's a wrap on this diary. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
