Starting this strain over. This one is already off to a better start than the last one. I don't know if it was because the last seed was placed in the directly peat moss vs. a peat disc. I've placed a comparison photo to show what I mean.

Week 2 has started. I'll be keeping the nutrients the same as last week. After week 2 I'll start adding more nutrients. Week 2 closes on a happy note. She is stretching and growing nicely. There is a little leaf curl from the low RH. It isn't severe though so I am not concerned.

We have started adding the final nutrient to the equation with the MaxiBloom. We will see if the plant can handle going all the way up to 10ml/gal over the next 4 weeks. She is growing well from what we can see. She hasn’t shown any issues. She was given a hair cut today. I took off the entire first node and the flowers on the second node. I also removed the fan leaves on the fifth node. The goal is to allow node three enough light to catch up. Node four should be okay as it is. With node five missing the fan leaves it should "stall" some on its growth. Then if things go well I'll have an even canopy to make a "dome" shape.

Week 4 starts with a good showing already from the slight defoliation that was done at the end of week 3. Nutrients are being scaled up as there have been no signs of concern. She is now being watered every 2 days, and I imagine that in the next few weeks it will be every day. I will try to keep the training and defoliation to a minimum for the next week or so. I've applied a ponytail to give those 2 nodes about 24 hours to and soak up as much light as possible before being blocked by leaves. I ended up putting the ponytail on for another 12 hours. I am pleased with the results. I've also removed another pair of fan leaves. I've also started LST with two branches that were creeping up. I wanted to create some space for the nodes that are still developing where I've defoliated. She is responding very well to the training. Time to let her do her thing.

Put the ponytail on again. I really want to get as much light to all the nodes as possible. The canopy is pretty even so far. I'm hoping the tops that are marked with the orange circles can catch up with the outer four. If not, I can say I tried and gave them as much light as I could. The pistils are now out at the base of each stem. So we should see some stretching soon. No visible issues yet with the increase in nutrients. My goal is 10ml of Maxi. Just got my second RapidLED light today. Super excited to have two of these now. 150W spread nicely across the entire tent's footprint.

Week 6 starts the first week of Flower. She is doing well and is definitely growing. She grew 2 inches in a day and is appearing to now need 1/2 a gallon a day. I’ve given her that two days in a row and not had an over abundance of run off, 20% each day. I like her structure and shape. The most even canopy to date in all my grows. I look forward to seeing where this goes. Well half a gallon a day still wasn't enough. She is being fed about 66% of a gallon a day now. When the run off falls below 20% I'll increase the amount of water again.

She is developing very nicely and showing no issues with the nutrient feeding. She will stay at these ratios until she is done or I run out of Mammoth-P. I’m getting low finally. She is starting to slow down on her vertical growth and stacking. I’m pleased with her spacing branch arrangement. It’ll be interesting to see how dense she gets and how large the colas become.

No major updates for this week. Next week we do one last defoliation to remove fan leaves and any leaves stuck between the fan leaf state and sugar leaf state.

She received her final defoliation to open her up and expose all those bud sites. Now we will sit back and watch to see how much she swells.

Week 10 is the start of the flush for her. I’m chopping her down on week 12. She is getting larger each day and has a pleasant smell coming off her. The buds feel dense after giving them a little squeeze. I’ll let the final product speak for itself though once she is dry and cured. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they turn out nice and dense. The THC rating is in a range of normal for the strain, which is nice to see.

This is her last week of life. Next week she is getting chopped down. As you can see on some of the photos, trichomes are starting to turn amber. This has been a good grow and we look forward to the end of the season.

Happy Harvest Day!

Calling it a night or day strain can be tricky. In capsule form at 8 milligrams you take it in the day and be okay, if you are someone with chronic pain. We have also ran this mid day with some CBD and been fine. Very mellow and chill. At night though, if you go hard this strain is very relaxing. Too hard and you will feel couch lock and heaviness. No munchies or giggles, just relaxation or sedation. So know your body and it’s tolerances when trying this strain out. Mostly a night time strain for do nothing moments, yet also able to be used in the day time to take off the edge if you have serious pain and dosed accordingly.

This was an easy strain to grow. She developed nicely with good stacking. I will grow this again one day and suggest this strain to others to others looking for a "traditional" indica feel or experience.

Nice work man! Hows the plant handling the stress of the defoliation? I'm growing the same strain atm but only have done LST so far.
NeedsMoreFans
NeedsMoreFanscommented4 years ago
@kette420, it has handled the defoliation just fine. There was no obvious slow down in growth. As long as you don't go crazy on the defoliation it should be fine. I'll check out your post and see if I can give you any suggestions.
