1. Welcome to my winter grow. This is 1 of the 4 photos in my tent.
2. I used the paper towel method to germinate these seeds. I moistened a paper towel, put the seed inside, folded it into 4ths and then put everything on top of my cable box. I found this to be a huge advantage. I've been having trouble with my seeds not germinating. I had been putting the seeds in a dark place inside the grow tent, but I thought it would be better to keep them in a warmer place since its winter here. The seeds were at about 80 degrees on top of our cable box and they took off like rockets! I germinated 4 seeds and all of them were ready to plant within 2 days.
3. I transferred the seedling to a small pot filled with pre-moistened Batch 64 soil.
4. I've been misting the sproutling daily with a 25% solution of Remo's Veg. Nutrients.
1. New nodes are stacking nicely. The light is in a good place for this new sprout.
2. I provided pictures of my nutrients, lights, and soil. I thought it would be a good visual.
3. I've watered once now, 400ml, using a 25% solution of Remo's nutrients.
4. I'm also misting on a daily basis. The foliar spray is the same 25@ solution. I'd like to spray the plants after the lights turn off at night, but that isn't going to happen. I've been foliar feeding with the lights on for years with no negative effects.
5. AK47 will stay in her starter pot for another week, then I'll transfer her to her final home.
1. Everything is looking great! She is a little lime green from transplanting, but once she is established she will start showing her true colors.
2. Growth has been incredible since I transplanted. I found a few pictures of the sprout just before transplanting. All that growth has been in less than 10 days.
3. She is now in a 7g square canvas sack. I like 7g pots for my 4x4. 4 Plants finish up nicely.
4. I've fertigated once. 500ml of filtered water with a 50% Remo Veg. Nutes solution. I'm using the same strength solution when I mist them daily.
5. This girl, and 3 other strains will be moving to my other 4x4 tent once it has been harvested. I have my White Widow and Pineapple Chunk in there now. I also have a Do-si-Do from Puff, Puff, Pass and a Sweet Zombie from Expert Seeds, but I didn't do a diary on either of those.
1. This strain is the shortest and bushiest of the 4 growing in this tent. This might become an issue later in the growth cycle.
2.
I'm a little behind. I was busy harvesting my fall grow. Each plant takes about 20hrs for these old hands.
3. Anyway, I've moved GSC to her final tent with the 540w QB.
4. I topped her at the 5th node and pruned the 1st node.
5. I removed the top fan leaves, but left the bottom ones for light absorption. I've since removed those leaves. The new growth is taking up the light absorption slack.
6. This strain is pretty bushy so I'm training most of the nodes horizontally to open up the plant. I've already started pruning some of the interior growth so that it'll focus on the bud sites.
1. One week to go before the flip!
2. AK is still the shortest in the group. I've defoliated all the inner nodes and leaves in order to open up the plant. I've had to do this once a week as she grows like crazy.
3. I started using these cool little LST devices. They have limited functionality, but they work perfectly for my 2 top nodes. I don't want to train those branches all that much, so these clips bend the branches just enough to create my canopy.
3. The day after these pictures were taken, I completely defoliated all the sugar leaves that were blocking bud sites, or facing inward. I also lollipopped the plant to create a better canopy.
4. I'm thinking of flipping the tent on Friday. I usually defoliate heavily, wait for 3 nodes to grow on the bud sites then flip to flower.
1. AK is the runt of the tent. She isn't even half the size of the other plants. I thought she was going to be a lot bigger due to her Sativa lineage. Oh well.
2. AK has gone through several defoliations and trainings this last week. I'm still trying to open up this plant. She doesn't seem to want to grow up!
3. This last weekend I gave her a 24hr. dark period then flipped the tent to 12/12 on Sunday. I haven't noticed much difference in the plant. I suppose she has stretched a bit.
4. I have fertigated once since flipping the tent. She is now on a bloom feeding schedule.
1. Budlets have started to appear! We are on our way.
2. AK has shot up a bit since last week.
3. Once she is fully flowering, sometime next week, I'll start defoliating and pruning off popcorn branches. Once that is done I won't really do anything other than feed and defoliate when necessary.
1. She is the shortest, bushiest girl in the tent!
2. All the major work has been done. I've defoliated after the stretch. I'll defoliate more as fan leaves shade the developing buds.
3. Fertigation happens every 4 days.
1. This is one bushy plant! She is maturing nicely, but completely different genetics from her tent mates.
2. Fertigation remains every 1g every 4th day. I'll start to taper the flowering nutes from 8ml/g to 5ml/g in about 2 weeks. I'' discontinue Cal/Mag the week after that. Finally, I'll just use filtered water for the final weeks prior to harvest.
3. I'm thinking 4-5 weeks.
1. The end snuck up on me! I was expecting this grow to last a few more weeks, but these plants have other ideas. Pistils have receded, leaves are starting to die off, calyxes are swelling, and most importantly, there is a smattering of orange trichomes on the buds.
2. My harvest checklist is complete, except for the 2 weeks of watering with only filtered water. This plant is about a week or so behind the others, so that shouldn't be a problem.
3. I expect harvest anytime next week.
I feel bad for this plant. She was short and bushy, whereas all the other plants were tall and lanky. Of course that meant whichever plant hermed, showered this bushy little girl with pollen. Whereas seeds showed up only on lower buds of the other plants. This girl got ALL the pollen. Even her top colas are seeded. It's hard to really judge this strain based on the circumstances. I certainly have had great luck with the breeder and I know this isn't the plant that produced the pollen.
This is the first time growing this strain from this breeder. I expected a little more of sativa/taller plant, but she was short and bushy. There were no negative affects from being the shortest. She had plenty of room to grow. She had a nice 5 week veg. I could've gone a week or two longer and spread her out a bit more. She was ready to harvest on a solid 10 week flowering period. Unfortunately being the shortest means that all the big kids pick on you and drop their crap all over your head. In this case, one of the other, tall, plants pollinated her like crazy! I found seeds in at least half of the buds. There were even a few seeds in the primary colas.😪 On the bright side, I have a lot of viable seeds that have some pretty nice parents.
