I'm excited to get these terp_fi3nd genetics into some dirt! These are my first seed ever. I tried to germinate a magic meatball gelato too but it didnt wanna pop. 4/5 pretty good for my 1st time. Since these are reg seeds, I'm really just hoping 2 will turn female. If all 4 turn out to be female I might have to sog them when they get moved to the veg tent. Maybe a friend would take a couple too. Either way, these are looking to be off to an good start. I soaked the seeds in a seed soak for about 24 hr, then moved them to a paper towel, and finally into soil once the had about a 1/2" tap root. No food yet, just high humidity.
The plants have been sitting in a homemade dome for a few days now. Today I decided to move them back to the ziploc dome so I could move my light a little closer. I was scared it would burn them but they seem fine so far, and they stretching a little too much imo. I think next time I pop seeds or run clones I need to get a small fluorescent to keep a few inches away from the plants so they dont stretch as much. Either way, they look good. I even broke the machine elves putting the dome on. I had some duct tape and a paper clip handy so I did some first aid and its kept growing. It was almost broke off completely so I'm not sure if itll make it in the long run. Cool to see how plants can survive something like that tho. It's not only looking fine, but it's the tallest too. I think my new humidifier is gonna be here Wednesday so until then I'll keep the domes on. I'm trying to make some taller domes too so I might not even need the humidifier yet. For now I've connected the veg tent to the flower tent with some ducting. It seems to be keeping it around 50% RH. I might keep this connected until I need to connect my filter.
I'm hoping to have these ready to move to my flower tent in 4-5 weeks. Ideally I'm planning to have a perpetual harvest going that will let me harvest every 4-5 weeks.
I'm late on this update but things are going good. The babies got transplanted into some biodegradable pots that are about 1/2 gallon. I'm not sure if I'll plants these directly into bigger pots or if I'll cut the fabric off. I'm thinking it could increase chances for things like root rot. I guess I'll see how much they grow threw the pot soon enough. I gave the plants their first watering after transplant as well. I added faa, ohn, acv, seawater, lab, and molasses. I also top dressed with a small amount of kelp meal and mykos. All 4 took about 500ml total, so light watering. I've been using the same solution as a foliar spray every morning. I spray the tops and bottoms of leaves. I give them about 10 mins and turn on the light. Planning to top these early and start some LST. I'm thinking about throwing the clones into a dome and straight into the flower room to use them for sexing. If it goes as planned I can do this and then take 2 more from cutting before putting these into the flower tent. I'm realistic though, I'm new, I'll prolly mess up. No matter what I want to take a couple clones of each plant in case 1 on them turns out being worth saving. I dont really have room for mothers so I might just take clones of clones for a few harvests. Might be able to give away a few cuts too if something is pure fire.
I wanted to mention about the soil I transplanted into. I've been growing cover crop in small containers for a couple weeks now. I wanted to use it to make some fpj and then reuse the soil for transplants. So I added maybe a 1/3 of this. The cover crop was grown in coast of maine seed starter mix. I also had a container with some homemade "nutrient bombs." Pretty much just eggshells, banana peels, a few vegetable scraps, coffee grinds, fish fertilizer, an old dead log found in the woods, compost, LAB, mykos topped with sea shells so light could get to the compost. This sits for about a month before using. Maybe 1/8 of this was added. The rest was just half and half compost and seed starter mix. I have no idea if this will be good, bad, or just whatever, but it makes sense to me somehow so I'm rolling with it. Let's see how it goes!
The babies are still looking healthy. The machine elves is definitely the beast of the bunch. I'm really hoping that turns out female. Still havent started training these yet. I'm thinking theyll be ready to top in the next week or 2. At that point I'll take some clones with the tops and do some basic LST. all I did this week was give the babies some water with food and compost tea. Every 2 days I mist the soil and foliage with dechlorinated water, faa, ohn, lab and sea water. Before I watered in the tea I topped with mykos, cover crop and some cocoa shell mulch. I'm a big fan of the cocoa shells. They smell amazing everytime i water the plants and from my research I found d that they actually have npk and some micros. Idk a ton about all that yet, but it definitely cant hurt having my mulch serve another purpose. Organic, or better yet, natural farming is all about the things you use serving multiple purposes. At least that's what I hear the people on youtube saying lol.
I'm excited to start learn about sexing plants soon as well. My first, and only, grow was from clones so I took the easy route. I tried my best to choose seeds based on the "volcano" looking tip. I found the videos on YouTube showing how to pick females based on the look of your seeds. Still have no idea if this is a myth or if theres and real research behind this. I'm hoping for 2 females. Then I'll take a clone of each and hope to harvest them about 4 weeks after these. I wasnt planning the perpetual grow when i started so I'm catching up now, but itll be smooth after I get a couple female clones to root. Got some foop waiting and I'm really debating on grabbing a aeroponic cloner. Was just gonna use soil but not sure. I think I'd rather save the money and grab some hash bags and a diy rosin press. They have some nice build on reddit if you look around. Pretty much come as a kit and just need assembly. I'm dreaming of those full melt hash rosin dab hits.
