Waited a few weeks before documenting this grow because I was so disappointed with my last failure. Did my usual germination method with these three seeds of SoMango XL from Royal Queen Seeds. 1. Placed the seeds into lukewarm water for 18-24 hrs until they drop to the bottom. 2. Into some damp kitchen paper and placed into individual plastic sandwich bags to hold the moisture. 3. Placed on top of a heater keeping 25c for 24hrs. 4. Once tap root is about 0.5-0.75cm I planted them in damp rapid rooters on a tray with a lid fully closed. 5. Kept them on the heater for another 24hrs and then into the tent. 6. Within about 3-5 days the tap root will have hit the base of the rapid rooter so transplanted into solo cups with 67:33 (coco:perlite). 7. Watered with 200ml at 150ppm for another few days. 8. Upped to 200 and 250ppm once they start growing. Looking at runoff to make sure it isnt higher than the input ppms. * I had one runt that I thought wouldnt make it early on. It struggled to root after germination and couldn't support itself without a stick. The tap root did a loop at the start which slowed it down. Bounced back and is going leaf for leaf with the other too now.

No issues at this stage. Keep a tight eye on pH input and output because that is what caused me issues in the last grow. Using alot of the same coco so it looks like perhaps the buffering and use of coco specific nutrients has helped. Calibrating the pH pen every few days just to be safe.

The girls have all been transplanted into their final pots. I soaked the coco coir in a calmag solution with a pH of 5.8 overnight before mixing it with perlite. I still havent been able to flush down to my target PPM for runoff so will do that today hopefully. Taking a few more litres than I remember! The calmag had some N so they look a little dark. Somewhat worried about how they've adjusted after the transplant. It seems to have knocked the speed out of their growth.

All 3 were topped once they recovered from the shock of the transplant. Discovered some yellowing on the lower leaves of one so I added some calmag because it has additional N. pH of runoff seems to be steady at 5.8 for one plant and 6.2 for the other two. Abit strange seeing as they are all in the same strain, in the same medium receiving the same nutrients!!!

Repotted one of the three in the same pot. I ran out of coco coir so it wasnt filled fully. Damaged some of the roots but managed to get a nice ball out intact. She had kink in her root/stem very early after germination which caused balance issues. I was able to sink her a little deeper and steady her somewhat. Little bit worried as the pH of the runoff for her was 5.5 when the fertigation went in at 5.8. I may have pushed the ppms abit high as they all seem a little too dark but they seem to have bounced back from the topping anyhow.

Ignore the ml/l as I usually add bit by bit and use a ppm meter to check. I've been lazy documenting the grow. Strange situation occurring where each of the 3 pots is giving runoff at 3 different pH! One is 5.5 which seems like long term that will negatively impact on the plant. One is 5.8 which matches the pH of the feed I'm watering with. And the other is hovering around 6.2 which should be safe once it doesn't continue to drift beyond that.

Anyone experience this issue before. Dark red discolouration on upper leaves starting near the stem side of the leaves. It seems to be effecting bud formation as my other two plants have much bushier pistle groupings.

Hey, if you check the info for somango in grow diaries, it says that “ Somango XL demonstrates beautiful purple hues during the flowering. ” . So you’re lucky to have a coloured plant! Cheers
