Adding Mephisto Sour Hound to my tent of autos. Really excited about growing some Mephisto Genetics, been hearing amazing things about Mehphisto (I also have a Alien vs Triangle going in a separate diary). This is a free seed I received with my order from Seedsman last fall (BTW Seedsman ROCKS!). This first seed failed to pop so I planted a second and that one popped in 4 days!.
My Perpetual Harvest strategy…. Originally my plan was to start 2 seeds each month, but had some seeds from one breeder that did not germinate early in my rotation. Ultimately, this caused single seeds to pop and messed up my 2 at a time plans. But, that seemed to work out OK, because now I think starting one seed every 3 weeks is a better strategy. This should provide me with 4-5 plants at a time, instead of 6. However… Since I need to shut down over the summer because my tent is currently in the attic, I’m starting 2-3 seeds at at time for the last couple of rounds.
Plants get fed once weekly on weekends. Seedlings get water only. Plants in vegetation get water and Recharge. Flowering plants get water, Recharge or Big Bloom (Fox Farm). Feeding is done using 2 gallon watering can. Any additional waterings during the week are given on an as needed basis per plant. I lift the plants to help determine which plants are more dry (lighter) and provide water any plants via water bottles and watering spikes.
I give each pot a quarter turn every day in an effort to make sure the plants get equal lighting from all sides. I rotate the plant in place by turning the pot 90 degrees (I am not rearranging the layout of the plants in the tent on a daily basis).
The soil is an ‘organic super soil’ I mixed myself using organic top soil, organic potting soil, organic compost, organic peat moss, organic perlite, organic vermiculite, lime, epsom salt, expanded clay pellets and Jobe’s organic fast start. I am also recycling my soil and water with Recharge when using recycled soil.
For plant training I have tried a variety of things, but my plans now are to do LST bending only, no HST anymore. I may decide to go back to HST again in the future, but I’m curious to compare LST training only to see how that goes. Around week 3 I'll do a FIM pinch once there are 4-5 nodes established. And some defoliation around the 3rd week of flowering. I have been doing HST bending and having good results, but think the HST may be causing the plants to take longer to harvest. I hope FIM/defoliation only will help increase harvests while getting me to harvest sooner.
Setup:
1- Grow Tent 24”x48”x72”
2- Viparspectra 300W LED’s (1-V300 & 1-R300)
1- Hanging 100w CFL (26w actual)
1- Carbon Filter w/ 190cfm Fan & 4” ducts
1- 6” clip-on fan
1- 700w electric heater - oil filled radiator (in front of air intake behind tent)
Sour Hound grew a bunch this week. I did overdose her with Recharge yesterday. I think that helped. I'll be OD'ing her again. I forgot to check PPM after the Recharge OD, I'll try to remember next time. 😀
Explosive growth this week. I'm loving the results from using tons of Recharge (and so it she). I'm going to keep up with the overdose or Recharge each week. Looking forward to the end results! 👍
Wow, did she stretch out this week. She nearly doubled in size and still looks like she has plenty more to go. No bud sites yes, but I expect to see little white hairs any day now. Still giving Recharge only - she loves it! 👍
Sour Hound is freakin' huge and she's not even really flowering yet. This could be the largest plant I've ever grown if she keeps stretching. I'm very excited!!! 😃
Sour Hound is stretching for the moon. She's the tallest plant I've ever grown so far!! Just starting the flowering stage now. I can't wait to see how she yields. I backed down a little on the Recharge this week, but still giving twice the suggested amount. Also still giving her Mammoth P. Will start with MegaCrop (Greenleaf) nutrients later this week. 👍
WOW!!! She's f'ing huge!!! Definitely the largest auto I've ever grown. The bud sites are still in early development but she's beautiful. However, I think she's suffering a little from the heat in the attic (where my grow tent is). I'll be moving her outside in the next week or so in an effort to help her out. Hoping for the best! 🙏
She's 4 feet tall!!! Wow! I'm a little concerned about light burn, but don't notice any signs of light burn yet. And she will be going outdoors soon. But I'm very impressed with this girl so far! 👍
ITS A MONSTER!!! Holy cow, this girl is huge! She finally seems to have stopped stretching at 48". Now the buds are starting to fatten up. Several weeks til harvest, but stay tuned....
Hello GrowDiaries Friends,
Unfortunately I was in a car accident last week. I shattered my heal bone (calcaneus), fractured my face and tore open the side of my face around my eye. I’ve had a few surgeries to put things back in place and I’m feeling better each day.
However, my injuries prevent me from caring for my plants personally. One of my best friends (who is also a grower) has been helping with feeding the girls and my wife has been pitching in with waterings also. All of my plants are still doing well, but its too much to ask for them to take pics and videos as I would normally do to update my diaries.
I’ll be off my feet for at least 2 months, but I do plan on updating my diaries as I can. Which will probably be mostly harvest reports. I’ll miss taking care of my plants and doing more GD updates for now, but I’ll be back!!!
I still can't tend to my plants myself due to my broken heal bone (calcaneus). My buddy has been feeding the plants and my wife has been watering and taking pics for me. This girl still has some time to go, but wow! She's huge and looking good! 👍
Chopped her down today! She was freakin' huge, stinky and sticky!!! 😃 Going to let her hang dry for 5-7 days before giving her a try. I'll post the harvest report once dried and I've had a taste. But I'm really impressed so far. 👍
Sour Hound is definitely the tallest plant I've ever grown. She was almost as tall as me at harvest. The buds are still curing, but I had a taste of the dried buds. Tastes nice with a hint of diesel. Got me pretty high too 👍
Sour Hound is very impressive. Grows like a monster. Based on my experiences with Sour Hound and Alien Vs Triangle from @MephistoGenetics I have to say their strains are pretty amazing. I'll definitely be growing more Mephisto strains in the future. 👍
Again, I want to thank all of my friends and family who helped put with my plants after my car accident. And also thank all friends here on Grow Diaries for your positive vibes! 😃
@DudeGrowsWeed, Same here man, one of the handful of quality seedbanks out there. Sour Hound is an limited edition strain, recently ordered me 5 more beans to keep for one day
