First grow and harvest done and now trying my luck at a photo! Had some trouble with stretching because everything I've read says to keep the light 24-30" away from the seedling but that was making her stretch so much! I ended up adding soil to prop her back up and lowered the light down to 10" and she's doing a lot better. Excited to try topping and scrogging but will probably need some help as I navigate through it. Starting in a small pot and will transfer into a 5 gallon cloth pot once she's ready. For now, status quo.
Definitely well into veg now. 1st week of seedling growth was good but found roots growing at the bottom of my starter pot on day 13 so I transplanted into a 5 gallon cloth pot. Didn't have a 1 gallon so she had to go into her final pot. Don't see any stress from the transplant, she's looking good I think. No nutrients yet....probably in another month once all the nutrients in the soil are used up. Will be using Mantis Buffered nutrients this time.
Had a great 3rd week, I think. She is growing really fast so I topped her just above the 5th node. Took a couple days to recover but she seems to have come through it fine. Not sure if I will top one more time or just scrog it. Space is really tight so I need to figure out space and how much to leave when I flip to 12/12. Will most likely need to start nutrients in the next couple of weeks.
It's been an up and down week. Started off well but noticed the leaves a little light in color. I think it's time to start nutrients but because I just watered, it needs to wait a few more days. Like a complete rookie, I sprayed a magnesium/water solution on her at the wrong time; should've done it before lights out but was a little overzealous. Hoping that next week is better. On a good note, she grew a lot since I topped her and it's almost time to lay down the scrog net; just want to see how she does after her first feeding before I start. I did try it just to see how it would lay out and I think it's going to work well.
Rough week! I installed a new, stronger light and I don't think she liked it very much. I noticed a lot of lighter green leaves which was probably due to a combination of heat burn and a need for nutrients. The FFOF soil only lasts about a month which makes sense that she would start to need something extra. I've started new nutrients called MANTIS Buffered Nutrients (I believe made in Canada). Apparently this has everything I need for the entire grow, just add 5ml/l every time I water. From others using it, looks like the plants are beautiful! I started full strength right away and noticed no nute burn whatsoever. In fact, her color got a lot better after the nutrients. I've also installed some LST clips instead of tying her down. These are amazing clips that took less than 1 minute for me to put on the 4 branches, helping the light to hit more of the plant and increase bud sites. I've laid the trellis net down to start the scrogging process and defoliated a bit at the bottom to keep it clean. Will continue to keep her under the net and stretch her out until the squares are about 90% full and will flip to flower. Since I started the nutrients, raised the light a bit and lowered the light intensity, she seems to be doing a bit better.
Things are a bit more stable this week though I'm still not sure if this is just the way she grows due to genetics or if the leaves should be more full/greener. She is very thirsty and is taking 4litres of water + nutrients every other day with minimal run off. I'm concerned that she's going to be too big for my tent with the way she's growing. I've been topping all branches that are reaching out too far in order to keep the canopy level and even. Also cleaned up the bottom third to allow for more air flow. Will let her recover from the topping and spread out a bit more before I flip to 12/12 but I have a feeling that I'll only have another week or so before I need to do that. After all of this work, she better be a girl!!!!
She had a pretty good week, no major issues or concerns. Her leaf color is much better and she's growing very quickly. I flipped her to flower on day 45 (so actually on day 4 of flower) but probably should've done it a week or two ago. May run out of room in the tent so I added a second scrog net to keep her as low as possible. I did a major defoliation on day 44 and stripped off everything below the 3rd node to let more air in. Will do one more defoliation around day 21 of flower.
This is officially the 11th day of flowering. Pistils everywhere turning into bud sites. I'm not 100% convinced that there are enough nutrients in Mantis but not seeing any real deficiencies; leaves could be greener in my opinion. Also started a new spray called Optic Foliar (Canadian manufactured); this is a combination of macro and micro nutrients which should help boost plant health, photosynthesis and nutrition uptake. I spray this on the leaves and it gets absorbed immediately so there is no light burn. Going to stop scrogging at this point and let her stretch; hoping that she won't stretch too much and I'll have enough room to let her grow.
Pretty good week. Lot's of budding, lots of growth, lots of stretching. Tucked under one last time on day 61 and she's bounced back nicely. Also had to increase nutrients a bit because she just looked like she needed more. Hasn't has a negative effect as far as I can see. Just going to let her go at this point and hope for the best.
Uneventful week. Did my last pruning/defoliation around day 21 and am now on autopilot. Tent filled in nicely, now just watching the trichomes develop and the buds get bigger. Excited to see what I end up with.
Pretty much coasting this week. Not a whole lot to report; she's growing well, buds are stacking up, she's starting to smell pretty and all is good. I did have an issue with heat in the tent so I turned off 2 fans and left one running as I was told that the motor of the fans create more heat and it worked! Was able to get the tent down from 28-29 to 25. Also turned off my humidifier as she really doesn't need it anymore. RH in tent is staying at around 45% which is exactly where I want it at this stage of growth.
Pretty quiet week. Seeing some yellowing leaves which is a big indicator of a nitrogen issue but I’m hoping that it’s just because I’m in mid flower and not a bigger problem. Mantis Nutrients walked me through my issues and I have flushed the plant. Will now start giving lower doses of nutrients and will slowly increase the amount. The buds themselves are getting really sticky and stinky. Love watching them grow!
Having a pretty quiet week. Still have some yellowing of the lower leaves but the nutrients have relatively low levels of nitrogen plus the plant is in mid/late flower so it's to be somewhat expected. Otherwise, she's getting thicker, stickier and smellier every day.
All is good. Plant is starting to turn yellow and the trichomes are getting cloudy. I think I have another 2 weeks until time to chop. Very excited with this one.
It's been a pretty easy week. Enjoying watching the buds get thicker! Just going to coast to the end at this point....hoping to harvest within the next 2 weeks. Already getting excited for my next grow...thinking Ethos Planet of the Grapes or Ethos Crescendo.
This will be my last 'grow' pic for this plant as I plan to harvest within the next few days. I just fed her for the last time (I think) and will let her dry out for a couple days and then time to chop. I'm really happy with this one! Buds are a decent size, tight, sticky and smelly! Love it!
Nothing to really report yet until I completely dry and trim but hoping to get 5-6 oz at least. Change of plans for next grow, think I'm going to try 2, Ethos Cherry Gar See Ya and see how it goes in a bit bigger tent. Will update next week with final amount after trim.
Final 2 or 3 weeks. fantastic to see how they evolve in late flowering 😀 beautiful work.
One more nutrients week?
I just started my new grow. Feel free to join the ride
@Clutch, so happy you responded! Thank you. She’s looking better and better every day and smells soooo nice! I’m really excited to see what I get off her.
Fantastic pictures. They sure look ready for harvest 😋😃
Only thing I would do is flush even when they say use nutrition untill harvest but that's up for debate since not everybody does it.
Well done, have fun with the harvest 😊
This is really beautiful. What a lovely canopy, perfectly even.
I like how u cleaned up everything underneath. It's a perfect environment and it lowers the chance on mould. The humidity and temperature levels are completely on point.
Fantastic grow so far. If u want to be a daredevil u can try to lower the Temps for dark times even more . In nature it's the same way in the late flowering time and it sometimes boosts the colors in certain strains.
Greetings 😉
@Clutch, Thank you for your very kind words! Once the lights go out at night, the temp drops but I’m not sure exactly how much. Also, she’s in a small storage room in the basement where it’s cooler. Once we turn on the air conditioning, it’ll be even cooler in there. Unfortunately, no other way to lower the temp and it’s not warm enough outside to put on the ac. @Clutch, you really made my day. Thanks again for all your support.
That's a healthy plant 🙂
Before u start nutrients make sure to check pH with plain water. After that it's easy to adjust. Gonna read some more about scroggin before giving advice on that topic.
Temperature and humidity are perfect for this stage I see.
Keep growing strong😉
@Clutch, Hiiii, hope all is well! Having a really shitty week. Upgraded the light and I think it was too strong for her. I've since dimmed it a bit and raised it, so I hope she'll react favourably. Water ph seems to be fine and started nutes today. Going to give her a couple of days to recover from getting a sunburn and will need to lay down the scrog net because she's getting tall. Also had trouble with the humidity controller...went crazy on me and had to get another one. Trying to keep it all in check. Wait til I post pics of her this week and you'll see what a mess she is :-(
@Clutch, It's called Top 30%...their highest THC strain. I bought the seeds from White Widow Seed Bank (whitewidow.rocks). based in Canada so, easy for me to get. I believe their seeds come from Spain. Glad you are following along with me and hope you will voice any concerns and/or suggestions at any time. Always willing to listen and learn. She's having a really good week so I think I may top her right before her next watering.
