The Glue Factory finally started showing its sex, was starting to get worried it was going to be a male. I gave all the plant their first top dressing last watering at (3/4cup EWC + 1.75TBSP/Gal - Gaia 444) as I might still have them vegging for another couple weeks before flipping. Not sure this top dressing was necessary but wanted to be safe, they have been in the FFOF for about three weeks and didn't want them to start running out of nutrient before their final up pot a few days before I flip them.
Anyone have any advice on the above issue? A lack of experience means my instinct is often wrong ;). My diary has everything I have done to her. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
My first guess would be calcium lockout because there are too many bloom nutes in your soil. Without EC measurements, I couldn't say for sure.
A bad pH could also cause a deficiency like this.
I was just looking for the suggested flower time on the Do-si-dos and when I found the seed pack I realized that it is actually Canuk Seeds and not Barney's Farm. I have updated the diary so it is correct. Flower time on Do-si-Dos say 8-9 weeks+, my guess is around 10-11.
Thanks @Ferenc. Hopefully I can keep it up. It's my first time doing the Gaia dry amend thing and so far so good. Fingers crossed I can get them to the fish line without any major issues.
Thanks @Browncoatgrows,
The Glue Factory took around 11 weeks to flower. Great night smoke that is nice and heavy with a good funk! Will grow this one again for sure.
Hi @Laian,
Yah that do-si-dos is fattening up like crazy, trics are still clear so probably 3+ weeks to go. Can't wait to see her finished up!
The light have been moved up so they are 25" away from the canopy now, I also dimmed them just a bit so they are pulling 750w now. That is giving me a Lux of around 60k at the center and 40k at the sides.
I did a large defoliation just before I flipped them into flower removing almost all of the leaves below the trellis. I have continued to remove the occasional leaf during flower if it looked to be blocking light on any the tops. Finally this last week I have been plucking fan leaves off to expose some of the lower buds in attempt to help them ripen a bit faster. I will post a pic next week of the pots/canopy so you can see that.
I am actually considering doing a phased harvest this time to see if I can get some of the lower growth to finish with more mature buds. My only hesitation is having the drying go to quickly on the tops that are harvested first. It also sounds like a pain doing a phased harvest but might we worth it in the end. Still up in the air on this one ;).
Thanks @Laian!
I have only done one run previously in this room. That was my first run ever and it was four LSD auto's. They were in smaller pots and using synthetic nutrients so still a different setup. I was able to pull around 1.5lbs off that run. So I hope to at least pull 1.5lbs, but really I am looking to get 2+ lbs once I get everything dialed in. Could be a few runs before I get there ;).
Absolutely outstanding grow, this is profi stuff! The screen rack is absolutely gorgeous. Please tell more about your light setup. What is the flowering light? How you dim it (you said something about putting your lights lower to increase the efficiency, but question is, aren't you afraid of light stress? If you have 1000W quantum board it should be too much I guess. According my experience 250W is quite Ok for 1quad meter. How big is your growing space?
Hi @Laian,
Thanks for the kind words! The light I am using is a 10 bar Meijiu strip light, each strip has (232pcs LM301B+ 4pcs OSRAM 660+2 pcs OSRAM 730+2pcs LG 395) LED's. The space I am growing in is a 5' (wide) x 6' (front-back )x 8' (height) room, the screen is 4.5' (wide) x 4' (front - back). The dimmers are built into the lights, and I have kept them dimmed to about 800w. Due to the quality of dimmer on the light the wattage varies from 800w-820w daily. When I moved my plant in from Veg I had my lights pulled up tight to the ceiling at over 30" away, this gave me a lux around 45k Lux. I slowly lowered the light every few days until I had them vegging at around 55kLux. Then when I put them in flower I slowly lowered the lights until I was getting just over 70kLux, this has my lights around 23" away from the tops.
Yes the light is certainly overkill at 1000W. I was hoping to maximize yield in my space and had counted on dimming it a bit. I have been happy with the light thus far but might have gotten away with a 600w instead. I like to be able to push my plants hard so I would go with the 1000W if I had to do it over again ;).
