Cooklung 1. Just getting started. I have two germination methods going, as seen in pics. I have NEVER done this. One in solo cup is in a rapid rooter, one on left is paper towel between two plates and a bowl over top to keep light out. I have the light relatively close to keep them warm.
2. Paper towel has germinated!! Transferred to rapid rooter and then to solo cup with coco. Premoistened coco with Calimagic and soaked RR in runoff.
3. Moved light to 20" above seed.
4. Pray for sprout!
As I wait to germinate, seeds will go to rapid rooter, then into coco, into solo cup. Assuming I make it to a two week old seedling, from there, what size fabric pot should I transplant to? 3 Gallon or 5 Gallon and why?
Depends how long you are planning to veg the plant. That will define how big the plant going to get and how large the root ball will be. There’s no reason you couldn’t germinate the seedling in its final pot really. Though some argue letting plants become a little root bound and transplanting can improve the density of the root ball. For the size of your tent you probably only want to veg for 7 or 8 weeks, a 3 gallon pot would do fine. I might transplant to 5 right before flipping the lights. You will have an opportunity to reassess and repot the plant into a 5 gallon at the end of the veg cycle when you flip it. This strain is mostly Indica so you probably won’t get a tonne if stretching in the transition to flower... I’d try to keep an even canopy and flip when ~ 60-70% of the surface area of the tent if filled
Cooklung both germinated seeds went into rapid rooters. One was left in solo cup with 1/4 water in bottom. The other rapid rooter went into solo cup with coco mix. Both sprouted into seedlings.
I moved the one just in the RR into it's final home. 3 Gallon fabric pot. The other I'm leaving in the cup to get a bit bigger before moving to a 3 gallon pot.
Started running my exhaust fan. Reason being, as soon as I moved to the 3 gallon pot and watered, humidity built up like crazy so the exhaust fan will hopefully bring that down and get some air flow going.
Will invest in one or two clip on fans soon.
Light may have been too far away from the seedlings. They seemed to look leggy already. Lowered light to about 18 inches in hopes that will help.
Started nutrient regiment at a very low dose.

Cooklung I think I'm watering too much. Leaves starting to droop. Going to back off the watering. Really starting to take off though. I can see a bigger plant just 12 hours later. Crazy. Switching to a new nutrient schedule this week.

Cooklung OK, just a heads up, I'm sharing the good AND the bad. I see a lot of diaries on here from first grows that are amazing with no problems.
I'm having problems. lol.
First, I went to transplant the girl that was looking real awful in the solo cup. In doing so, I messed up. Transplanted her and didn't have enough soil in the pot. I decided to pop her out to add soil. In doing so, I accidently ripped a bunch of roots. I stayed the course but as you can see, she's not doing well. If she's not improving at weeks end, she's gotta go. :(
Also, the plant that is doing well, is also low on soil in the pot but I'm not messing with it.
Lastly, good plant has, what I think is, Nutrient Burn. See photos for a close up. To correct this, I'm going to try watering with plain PH'd water, every other watering to back off the nutrients a bit.
Smell has started. That surprised me.
I plan on adding a small fan in the bottom of the tent.

Cooklung The little runt that I stunted pretty bad is still hanging in there. Humidity levels are up as the climate changes to Spring. I will be adding a clip on fan. Also, one more pistil(?) and I'll be trying my first attempt at topping. Already started some LST to give lower leaves some light. Other than that, nothing exciting to report!!
