My first Blackberry (Purple Pair) isn’t really growing as it should. My fault probably. So I’m starting another Purple Pair. Each in 1 gal pots.
The last grow I started (Lemon Grass) are also in 1 gal pots. I can actually fit nine 1 gal pots at a time in each tent. That would be 18 in total. Probably too many plants to be growing at one time... But if I use more of the smaller pots and do more of a SOG, I should be able to increase the returns. I just finished a grow in 1 gal pots (Fruit Salad). I got 1oz off each plant. In theory that configuration would give me 18oz every 9-12 weeks. I’m thinking about it...
Good growth from both plants in week 2. But the BlackBerry has started to show very pale green leaf growth again. The initial dark colour is draining from the first set of leaves leaving them pale green. The new growth is pale. I might start lightly feeding a weak veg nute mix. I can’t believe it is lockout already. The soil is light-mix from Biobizz. It is not high in nutes to begin with.
I’ve started feeding both plants at 2 weeks. Both are threatening to go a bit pale green. The Blackberry started very pale but I have pulled it back to a healthier shade. I’ve just been micro watering and foliar feeding with some really light early mix.
The Blackberry is healthier than the previous one I grew (Purple Pair). Not as pale. But it is still growing really strange. Long and thin primary growth. Almost no secondary stems growing. This is looking like another ‘vine’ grow. If the last seed I have does the same when I plant it then I’ll be wondering what is up with this phenotype. It has started flowering. Later than the 2 1/2 weeks it previously took, but still quite fast. I’ve noticed it has a thinner stem at the bottom than in the middle. Weird.
The Crystal Meth is coming along ok. A bit small but fully into flowering already. I’m taking it into the scrog net and lollipopping already. It has some light yellowing in between leaf ribs on a few leaves. I’m nervous, as the Lemon Pies I was growing (Lemon Grass) both died suddenly this week due to over-feeding. The problem started with browning between leaf ribs. Just feeding pure water last time.
The pair is purple! Both have tiny purple buds with snowy white pistols. The leaves around the buds are starting to turn purple as well! Can’t wait to see them grow bigger.
This is the second Blackberry I have grown. So much healthier than the first one. Leaves have all gone green in the flowering tent. I’ve been totally babying her. But she is still just a vine shape. No secondary growth at all. Not going to produce much weight again I fear. Shame because this is a great smoke.
The Crystal Meth is small. It’s in a small 1 gal pot this time so probably won’t grow as big as the last one. But this one looks way healthier than the last one as well.
I’m training both into a very low scrog net. Also I’m turning the pots slightly every few days once they are in the net. Just 5 degrees or so. This twists the plants into a corkscrew shape. The idea is it pulls them back down, stretches them further out and exposes them further to the light. Bit of an experiment.
The purple colour is really developing further this week. Spreading out over more leaves. The plants are not getting bigger. No real stretch atm from the Crystal Meth, unlike the last time in a bigger pot. The Blackberry is still a vine shape. But the buds on both are getting bigger.
I gave them a good flowering nute feed this week. I’ll keep carefully raising that this week. I suspect these two will be cut down as early as possible to make way for the cycle of other 1 gal potted plants coming in from the veg tent. I’m also growing a Wedding Cheesecake at the same age, which is big and spreading nicely and could do with going longer. I need to get my supply of meds back on. Right now I got nothing.
This plant was way more healthy than the first Blackberry I grew. The leaves a healthy and green. But the dwarf vine shape is exactly the same. Delicious strong buds, but such a small amount. I also harvested too early. The root development is small as well. Got one more seed to try but I’m going to leave it for a while.
I’m running out of time to update so many diaries. The perpetual grow pattern doesn’t work with separate diaries like this. So I’m rethinking how I do it and adding some new tech to the tent to help. I’ll post all the harvests on existing diaries and get back with adding new diaries soon.
I had to harvest the plant early. I need the supply so I’m taking it early. The colour this time round was beautiful and deep purple. It wasn’t big. The buds were trippy strong and really did have a nutty flavour. I would grow it again but would push it harder.
