@GrowWithTheFlow710, either the people sponsoring the comps or the team that run the site go through and pick the winners. The countdown clock may have ended but they may not have picked the winners yet. Once the timers gone and the diaries move into a order with what position they finished next to them is when they are over. Usually within a few week you should be notified about claiming your prize. There are lot of people participating in these comps that's why it Usually takes a while to get the results. Sometimes it will show winners real early by mistake but that's a glitch that gets sorted.

@Hashy,Thanks for this info, was questioning this as well. Do you happen to know how the judging works?

@YummyLegg, when you finish your 1st diary you have to do harvest then smoke report. Once that's done you should be able to join this contest. It runs every month but usually alters sponsorships from month to month.

@DoctorGreenThumb, perhaps it could be for newbie and apprentice growers only. But if an newbie places in the top 3 they get bumped up to apprentice status with the win, then if they place top 3 again they get bumped up to the next status and can't join that competition again.

@DeepWaterGrower, doesn't always start at the beginning of the month. Most months it does, but occasionally when the previous months results take longer to sort out it seems to delay the start of the new comps.
